Chapter 475
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Chapter 475
He had a meeting to attend later in the afternoon. He had another glance at Tara and noticed a healthy
glow on her face, so he planned to get up and go back to work All of a sudden, Tara bolted up with a
scream.
Odell turned around to her, and she threw herself into his arms. She hugged him with her trembling arms
and said, âOdell, Iâm very scared.â
Odell patted her back. âDid you have a nightmare?â
âI donât know why, but I dreamt of the baby we would have had. My stomach was bigâ¦and I fell down the
stairs.â
Odell frowned. âItâs over now. Donât think about it anymore.â She started crying, âOdell, can you stay a
little longer?â Odell remembered Sylvia pushing Tara down the stairs and causing the miscarriage. Back
then, he was rather surprised that Tara had gotten pregnant after having sex with him just once.
Sylvia was also pregnant then, and she was his legal wife, so lie actually had a thought of making Tara
abort the baby.
However, the doctor had said that her body could not sustain the damage and that the child must not be
aborted. Therefore, he had gifted Tara the villa at Lake Victoria and told her to take care of herself until
she was due for labor.
He felt like he owed her a lot, so he often would drop by the villa to visit her.
Then, Sylvia showed up and pushed her down the stairs, causing her to miscarry and damaging her
body permanently. She could never be pregnant again.
Ultimately, he was responsible for what happened. âOkay, just lie down first.â
He sat down beside the bed and Tara simply lay in his arms, hugging him tightly. He pitied her for having
a nightmare, so he did not push her away this time.
He then pulled his phone out to call Cliff.
âDelay the afternoon meeting by an hour.â Tara secretly curled her lips into a grin. After the call, she
looked up at him and said meekly, âOdell, am I disturbing your work?â He answered softly, âItâs okay,
donât worry about it.â
Tara sniffled and continued in a sobbing tone, âOdell, why wonât you marry me?â She shot a soft gaze at
him.
Odell was displeased by the request and furrowed his brows.
She immediately explained, âI know it has only been four months since Sylvia has been gone, and the
timing is inappropriate, but you have to work and you need someone to take care of the kids and
Grandmother at home. By marrying me, I can share your burden rightfully, or else people will keep
talking about it.â In the end, she lowered her head and feigned a sorrowful look. Odell asked, âWhoâs
talking about it?â Tara pursed her lips in silence. âIs it Aunt Tonya? Or someone else?â. Tara lowered her
head further and said meekly, âI canât take it, so please donât ask anymore.â Odell stared at her in silence.
She was as kind and understanding as always and would be the perfect wife to take care of his house.
However, he really did not have the intention to marry her.
Tara then said, âOdell, if Sylvia were still here, I wouldnât make you marry me. I just donât want to see you
so tired, taking care of work and family together. Besides, I can no longer give birth, and if you donât want
me, I donât know what reason I have to be alive.â Her words made Odell choke. The woman used to
carry his child and accompanied him through his darkest days. It was not an exaggeration to say that
without Tara, he would not have made it today. In return, she had lost more than she gained from him
and could never be pregnant anymore.
He owed her more than he could ever return. A long silence later, he said, âGive me some time to think
about it.â Taraâs eyes gleamed. She said meekly, âOkay.â
