Odell fell silent. “I remember.”

“| hope you could agree to be engaged with me.” Her beautiful eyes widened, staring hopefully at him. Odell pursed his lips, and

his expression darkened.

Lily looked at his face and said, “Don’t worry. | won't force you to marry me. | only want to make my grandfather feel better. After

we are engaged, if you think I’m unsuitable to be your wife, | will find a way to talk to my grandfather and break off our

engagement.”

Odell’s gaze eased as he glanced at her. “It will be a hindrance to your future and a waste of time.”

Lily's lips curled into a smile, and she shrugged. “As long as Grandfather’s health improves, | don’t care.” Odell’s mouth

tightened into a thin line as he kept quiet.“ I'll give you a reply by tomorrow morning.” Lily’s eyes lit up. “Okay, then | won’t disturb

you anymore.”

After that, she got up and walked out.

Odell leaned toward his chair and gloomily closed his eyes.

Two hours later, Cliff pushed open the door and came in.

Odell glanced at him. “Have you gotten any information?”

Cliff replied, “Yes. Master Springsteen has been in a terrible state these days. Since your scandal with Miss Springsteen, he

scolded her and refused to accept any explanation. He declared that he would not meet Miss Springsteen if she didn’t give him a

satisfactory answer. Yesterday afternoon , he shut himself in his room after waking up. He only lets in the servants that send him

food and has even refused to see Madam Springsteen.”

Odell rubbed his temples and asked, “What time is it

now?”

Cliff looked at his expression and replied softly, “It’s half past five.”

Odell got up and walked out while saying, “Postpone the meeting tonight to tomorrow night.”

Cliff hurriedly replied, “Okay.”

Odell returned to his home within half an hour.

The two kids had just come home from school and were in the living room.

Liam was reading while Isabel sat cross-legged on the floor, playing with a remote-controlled car that Odell had bought for her a

few days ago.

Odell walked straight to them. The two kids put down their stuff once they saw him walking over.

Qiell picked Isabel up from the floor and sat down on the couch beside Liam with her in his lap.

He said, “I need to tell both of you something.”

Isabel raised her little chubby face, and Liam looked at him.

Odell pursed his lips and said, “I’m going to become engaged to a woman.”

The two kids immediately quieted down. They said nothing and stared at him.

Seeing that they had not reacted , Odell continued, “We are getting engaged due to other reasons. I’m not marrying her.”

The kids still kept quiet.

Odell asked, “Do you understand?”

Liam replied, “Yes.”

Thai silently sulked

Odell stroked her round head “Don’t get any funny ideas, Make sure you behave in the future, got it?”

Lialli said yes Odell then looked at Isabel, who still said nothing “Isabel

Isabel murmured softly, “Okay.”

It was dinnertime, and the servants were setting up the table.

Odell carried Isabel and glanced at Liam, who was still sitting. “Get up and eat.”

Liam stood up and followed him to the dining table, sitting down.

They finished the meal in silence.
