Boomerang Love Online Novel
Chapter 129
Maximus! She wondered why he was here too.
Naomi was surprised to see Maximus in the car beside her.
Maximus grinned. âAre you here on a business trip too?â
Naomi nodded. âYes! I need to gather some information for a case.â
Maximus smiled faintly. âLetâs have dinner together since weâve bumped into each other.â
Before Naomi could respond, a black Maybach suddenly stopped next to the car. The driverâs window rolled down, and a voice came through. âSure! Iâve already made a reservation.â
Recognizing Brendanâs voice, Naomi turned to look at the Maybach, only to see him behind the driverâs seat with a cigarette in hand. His gaze was cold, looking as if he had caught her redâhanded.
Maximus smiled when he saw Brendan. âBrendan is here too.â
Brendan took a drag of his cigarette and shrugged. âIâm accompanying my wife on a business trip.â
Once he finished speaking, he snuffed out the remaining cigarette and looked indifferently at Naomi. âGet
in.â
Seeing this, Naomi turned back to Maximus. âSee you later, Maximus.â
âSure.â Maximus nodded before instructing his driver to follow Brendanâs car.
Naomi got in the Maybach, and Brendan turned to her sarcastically. âYou seem close to Maximus.â
Naomi glanced at him. âI didnât know he was here. Lay off.â
As they were having dinner with Maximus later, Naomi didnât want the latter to see how tense her relationship with Brendan was, even though this wasnât entirely a secret by now.
Naomiâs words made Brendan light another cigarette silently.
Before long, the group arrived at a nice restaurant in the area. Brendan instructed the waiter to bring two. boxes of beer and a bottle of white wine. He hadnât spoken to Naomi since her explanation earlier.
Naomi couldnât quite figure out if Brendan was silent because he was reminded of Sophia when he saw Maximus or if it was because of Maximus meeting her.
When Ryan saw the amount of alcohol Brendan ordered, his face fell. âYou shouldnât drink, Mr. Martin.
Maximus chuckled. âI canât possibly leave Brendan hanging.â
Brendan was amused by this. Naomi knew she couldnât persuade him, so she didnât bother speaking up.
When the walter started serving the food, Brendan filled their glasses. Years of not meeting had ensured the conversation flowed, and the amount of drinks they had also increased,
After finishing a box of beer, Maximus didnât look too good. Naomi advised, âThatâs probably enough.â

But Brendan ignored Naomi and filled Maximusâs glass again. âThis oneâs to Sophia.â
Hearing Brendan mention Sophia, Naomi turned to him silently.
She thought Brendan had been ignoring her because he misunderstood her sneaking here to have an affair with Maximus. But it turned out he was reminiscing about Sophia.
Seeing the full glass, Maximus turned to Naomi. Compared to a toast in memory of his deceased sister, he felt he should consider Naomiâs feelings more.
Seeing Naomiâs indifferent stare at Brendan, Maximus raised his glass. âBrendan, the past is in the past.â
He initially wanted to persuade Brendan to focus on his life with Naomi. But it seemed like his comment would expose the fragility of Brendan and Naomiâs relationship. Hence, Maximus decided to keep his
mouth shut.
