Chapter 144
Boomerang Love Online Novel
Chapter 144
Ronald gripped the steering wheel with both hands. He then messed with his hair dismissively. âWhoâs making a racket daily? That sounds so tiring!â
Naomi returned to her normal self. âLetâs stop joking around. Please take me back to the law firm!â
âRemember to eat lunch. Donât force me to babysit you for all three meals.â
âAlright, Daddy.â
âThatâs disgusting.â
Half an hour later, Naomi returned to the law firm and reported her progress on her case as well as some
of her thoughts to Michael.
Michael responded earnestly, âNaomi, the reason I asked you to work on Charlesâ case was for you to get a feel of other types of cases.
âWho knew youâd get so emotionally invested? Itâs great that youâre working so hard, but try to keep your feelings out of it.â
Naomi smiled and said, âI understand, Mr. Symth.â
Michael continued, âOh right. Thereâll be a business summit over the weekend in the South Suburb. Our
firm has a few spots available.
âYouâve done very well on your last two cases. When the time comes, you should attend the summit with Sally Harrison and Team 2âs Blair Carson. Try your best to get a few cases under our firm.â
âAlright, Mr. Symth.â
Naomi agreed to his instructions and returned to her office to continue working.
Eight hours had passed. By this time, all her colleagues had gone home. However, Naomi was still working overtime.
With that attitude, it was no wonder Michael liked her.
At Yellowind Bay, Brendanâs expression changed when he came home to Naomiâs absence.
Jennifer explained, âIâve just called/Mrs. Ludwig. Sheâs working overtime in the firm! She said sheâll be back once she finishes the work on hand.â
Brendan felt a little better upon hearing that. At least Naomi was coming back tonight.
However, he felt frustrated when he recalled how she threw his breakfast away.
It was rare for him to be nice to someone as he had been to her in the morning. Yet, she disregarded his kindness entirely.

Jennifer saw Brendan tug at his tie. Then, she pulled out a small plastic bag and passed it to him.
âMr. Ludwig, this is something I found in the rubbish bin of the master bedroom in the afternoon. Are you or Mrs. Ludwig feeling unwell? Do either of you need to go for a checkup?â
Brendan took the plastic bag Jennifer was holding. When he saw the gastric pills he had given Naomi last
night, his expression was calm, but iciness radiated off him.
Without returning the pills to Jennifer, Brendan said tonelessly, âNo one is unwell.â
Upon seeing Brendanâs lack of reaction, she responded, âThatâs great, then.â She then returned to work.
Brendan strode upstairs. He pulled his tie off and crumpled it in his hands. His expression had darkened
visibly.
Naomi only came back around 11:00 pm, looking exhausted.
The house was silent. When she opened the bedroom door, she saw Brendan was awake, glaring over
coldly.
In surprise, she greeted, âYou havenât slept yet?â
Initially, she hadnât wanted to come back to Yellowind Bay. However, knowing Brendanâs temper, he would try to pry open her door in the dead of night if she didnât. She might as well come back.
Brendan was fickle like that. If you ignored him, he would keep cozying up to you. If you came home and displayed any sign of clinginess, he would hide away as far as possible.
She was confident that Brendan would disappear as long as she came home for three days in a row,
To prevent wasting her energy before Charlesâ case was called to court, Naomi wanted to avoid arguing with him daily. Thus, she came back.
