Chapter 150
Brendan took his glass and sipped at it for a moment before speaking, âReuben, what is a woman thinking if she is unwilling to let you even touch her, and her desire is extinguished the second she lays eyes on
you?â
Brendan was forthcoming with his troubles. Reuben did not keep his thoughts to himself and responded frankly, âShe doesnât like you. Women wonât desire men they donât like.â
Brendan felt as though an arrow had pierced through his heart.
Naomi had said just now that kissing him did nothing to her, and she wouldnât be able to get it up if she
had been a man.
Upon thinking of that, he took another gulp of his gin.
Reuben saw his frustrations and continued, âIf she used to like you and was willing to be intimate with you, she might be throwing a tantrum for now.
âThe rocks of dissatisfaction are still weighing down on her heart, making her unwilling to cooperate.â
Reubenâs words made Brendan turn to look at him. He thought this sounded more pleasing to the ears
than his earlier statements.
âYouâve argued with Naomi, havenât you?â Reuben smiled as he spoke.
âDonât blame Naomi for getting angry. Throughout over two years of marriage, Naomi is the one who seeks you out every time. Youâve gotten too pampered by her.
âEveryone has limits to their dignity and patience. If you continue behaving like this, Naomi will be disappointed.
âIn addition, sheâs not one of those women who are eyeing you for your reputation and wealth. She doesnât have to indulge in your every whim.â
Brendan didnât like hearing that. He sipped his gin and said, âYou me. Youâve never seen how she stands up to me all the time.
only see her when she comes looking for
âLast time, I had merely kissed her before she slapped me across the face. I had handprint marks on my
face as a result.
âHer disposition isnât as sweet as you all make it out to be. Sheâs not indulging in my whims. She has her
plans.â
Reuben smirked. âThen you must have pissed her off entirely. If not, she would waste no time leaping into bed with you. Letâs not talk about your history with her. Just look at what you did today.
âYou knew that she would be coming over today. Yet you still brought Chloe over. Also, Chloe got that necklace from you, didnât she?
âYou get ruffled when she merely talks to Maximus. Do you think sheâd feel good seeing you give such an expensive necklace to a woman you keep beside you throughout the day?â
Brendan was silent.
Initially, he planned to give the necklace to Naomi. However, Naomi ignored him, even going as far as to dump the breakfast and medicine he gave her.
Unable to stand her behavior, he thrust the necklace upon Chloe soon after.
If Naomi was annoyed at Chloeâs presence, she couldâve been honest about the matter with him.
Throughout their two years of marriage, he hated how she constantly minded her own business and maintained an air of magnanimity. If he didnât put some pressure on her, she wouldnât move a muscle.
Reuben saw Brendanâs silence and continued, âYou said Naomi married you solely because she believed what those fortune tellers said, right?
âRegarding this, any other woman wouldâve tried it out first with other men. Only when it doesnât work would they come to find you!
âNaomi has never tried being with anyone else before. Thus, her decision to marry you was not entirely based on the predictions of the fortune tellers.â
Brendan was silent in the face of Reubenâs advice.
They didnât know a lot of things.
âAlright, stop trying to drink your sorrows away here. If you really want to live a good life and keep Naomi by your side, then apologize to her.
âWomen will give in once you apologize. If you continue dragging this out, youâre only exacerbating the
problem.â
As Reuben finished speaking, Brendan drained the last of his gin. He got up and said, âIâm going back first. Rest early.â
âAlright, Iâll sit here for a while before going back.â
Reuben guessed that Brendan was going to see Naomi and didnât follow him back.
In the lift, Brendan stuck both hands in his pockets as Reubenâs words echoed in his head.
After the lift doors opened, Brendan walked to the junction at the end of the corridor. He was initially
going to turn left back to his room. In the end, he still turned right.
