Chapter 190
Boomerang Love Online Novel
Chapter 190
Upon hearing Maximusâ answer, Heather almost flipped the table over.
He was such a jerk. He had the guts to be so unrestrained when she was right in front of him.
Needless to say, he was surely getting ideas about Naomi behind the Ludwig familyâs back. She was certain that he had his heart set on stealing her from them.
As much as she was boiling with anger, Heather forced herself to suppress her fury. She laughed superficially and said, âSure. Iâll keep a lookout for you.â
Hmph! She wouldnât be a member of the Quinlan family if she didnât find someone spectacular for him.
At the same time, Naomi had been watching the subtle strife between Heather and Maximus. This scene made her raise her hand to massage her temples.
This rather unhappy dinner ended at around 8:00 pm. Naomi finally breathed a sigh of relief. Todayâs off day felt like it was all for nothing.
From the back seat of their car, Heather kept her eyes on the Passiot in front of them. She remarked. angrily, âNaomi, Maximus doesnât have good intentions. Itâs better for you to keep your distance moving
forward.â
Naomi replied, âMaximus was just pulling your leg, Mom. He doesnât have any other ideas. That time, he
was just provoking Brendan intentionally because he saw that Brendan and I were clashing with one
another.â
Heather didnât believe her. She looked at Naomi and said, âIâm guessing that was what he told you? Youâre
still too young, Naomi. You donât have a good understanding of men.
âHe said those words to you on purpose because he noticed that you were maintaining a distance from
him. He said that to make you let your guard down, so that itâs easier for him to get closer to you.
âThis is a strategy that men typically use. Donât fall for it.â
Naomi answered, âAlright. I got it, Mom,â
Heather had already given her command. What else could she have said?
The takeaway was that Naomi should keep her thoughts to herself. Otherwise, she would have to listen to
her nagging all night.
Maximus was in the backseat of the Passiot in front of them. Ryan was feeling perplexed. He turned
behind and asked Maximus, âMr. Martin, that didnât seem like your usual behavior. Why did you have to treat Mrs. Ludwig like that today?â
Maximus smiled slightly. âThey will only know how to appreciate what they have when someone else
starts eyeing whatâs theirs.â
He simply wanted Naomi to be cared for more. He wanted her to live a better life.

This was especially so whenever he thought of Sophia.
The look on his face turned into a more serious one gradually. He seemed to have a lot weighing on his
mind.
Half an hour later, Heather and Naomi arrived back at Yellowind Bay. When Heather realized Brendan still wasnât home, she called him right away.
âWhy arenât you home yet, Brendan? Do you know what time it is? Do you not have any sense of time?â
Brendan could hear the agitation in Heatherâs voice. He clarified. âI have a social meeting tonight. Iâll be
back late.â
Heather scoffed, âSomeone else is about to steal your wife away from you. Are you still in the mood for social meetings? Are you that generous?â
In the past, Naomi was the one who was always summoned by Heather to catch him in the act. Today, she finally called Brendan, reminding him to be on his guard.
From the other end of the call, Brendanâs voice became deeper. âWhat happened?â
Heather explained, âJust now, Naomi and I bumped into Maximus at the department store. He invited
Naomi and I for dinner.
âHe even treated Naomi with so much care right in my face. Heâs even trying to please your wife. Itâs late. I
canât believe that youâre notâ¦â
Brendan interrupted Heatherâs reprimand, âI got it, Mom.â
Heather reminded, âDonât just think about enjoying life out there. Make sure you get home early every day.â
Brendan hung up the call, looking gloomy. He wasnât out there enjoying life. Wasnât she tarnishing his reputation in front of Naomi?
After hanging up, Brendan looked toward Jason, who was in the driverâs seat. âI wonât be going to Reubenâs. Take me back to Yellowind Bay.â
