âHave you ever seen a woman with hair that short or behave as rough as her? Iâve never seen a daughter
either.
âItâs a good thing Estelle isnât like her. Iâd be so worried if both children were like this.â
Paulineâs words made it seem as if she viewed Bailey as her own daughter.
Hearing this, Estelle walked over and pulled Pauline aside. âForget it, Mom. Bailey has her own tastes and
hobbies. We shouldnât judge her.â
Matthewâs expression soured after hearing Estelle and Paulineâs comments. How could he have such an
embarrassing daughter?
If he could turn back time, he would rather not have had her at all. She was embarrassing him.
Bailey rolled her eyes at Estelle and Pauline. âDrop the disgusting act.â
Pauline grew livid. âLook, Matthew! Look at how arrogant she is! Not only does she not respect me as her mother, but she also doesnât respect you as her father.â
Matthew had always valued power, and those around him had to obey him without question.
With Paulineâs instigation, his gaze toward Bailey grew colder. He stared at her as if she were his enemy.
Seeing Paulineâs provocation, Bailey couldnât be bothered to deal with them. She stared fixedly at Matthew. âWhat business do you have with me? If that is all, Iâll head back right now.â
Matthew was furious at Baileyâs indifferent attitude.
But he swallowed his anger and said, âClear your schedule for Saturday. You are to have lunch with Wade, and our families will have dinner together later that day.â

Before Bailey could respond, Matthew added, âYou canât refuse. Your grandparents were the ones who arranged the marriage.â
Bailey paused at the mention of her grandparents. She knew Matthew must have said something to get her grandparentsâ approval.
With an icy gaze, Bailey sneered at Matthew. âYou can go yourself. Iâm not going to play along.â
Matthew turned red in anger and pointed an accusing finger at her. âI donât care whether you agree or not. You have to go, no matter what.
âBailey, donât be so selfish. Donât forget, youâre part of the Jenkins family and a shareholder of Jenkins Group too.

Matthewâs angry rant earned a sarcastic laugh from Bailey. Naomi had been right. Matthew was after her
shares.
Bailey kept her hands in her pockets and looked at Matthew. âYou wish to have my shares? Dream on.â
Pauline rolled her eyes. âYouâre a woman. Why do you need the shares? Donât believe in Naomi or Ronald. Your father is doing this for your own good! You wonât be on the losing end if you transfer your shares to
him.â
Bailey huffed. âDonât even think about it.â
With that, she took her hand out of her pocket and straightened her clothes.
âI wonât go on Saturday, and I wonât transfer my shares. Iâll live my own life on my own terms. I donât need your arrangement or your snarky comments.â
She added, âI came here today just to make my stance clear. Donât call me again, Matthew.â
âHow dare you, Bailey?â Matthewâs neck veins bulged as he ordered the maids, âLock her up in her room. She has to get married whether she likes it or not.â
The maids moved to grab Bailey, but she turned sharply toward Matthew. âMatthew, you can confine me and force me into marriage. But thereâs one thing I need to tell you.
âIf my lawyer canât contact me within three days, my 21% of shares will leave the Jenkins family for good and be donated on my behalf. So, youâll only ever hold onto 20% of the shares and risk losing the
company.â
