Chapter 61
Christine had a stern expression.
What nonsense was this child spouting again?
However, Brendan shamelessly replied, âI want a full service tonight. Iâll settle it altogether.â
Naomi scoffed dismissively. âSure! As long as you can handle it.â
Their shamelessness left Heather and Christine staring at each other, feeling incredibly embarrassed. These two kids had made their faces turn beet red with their words, and they were still acting as if nothing had happened.
Christine poked Naomiâs waist again and said, âNaomi, mind your language.â
Naomi frowned and turned to Christine, saying, âMom, if you keep poking my waist, I wonât be able to have children.â
âPfft! Nonsense.â
Heather, unsure whether to laugh or cry, quickly intervened, saying, âSince both of them have pledged to make things work, letâs head back. They can take care of the rest on their own.â
Christine agreed and walked away with Heather. Once they were gone, Naomi got ready and headed straight to Goodwin Corporation.
In the chairmanâs office, Dennis was on the phone when Naomi walked in and sat across from him.
After a moment, Dennis finished his call and looked at her. âYouâre not going to work today? Donât you need to go to the law firm?â
Naomi crossed her legs and asked, âMom said youâre bothered by the companyâs affairs, and itâs related to the Sabella family.â
Dennis replied, âYou donât need to worry about the companyâs affairs. Your main focus should be living a good life with Brendan and having a child.â
Naomi responded, âI will live a good life, and we will have a child. These are two separate matters.â
Seeing that Naomi wasnât going to budge, Dennis sighed and continued, âThe South Glistenville project is the companyâs most critical undertaking in the latter half of the year. Initially, we had a solid hold on it. However, the Sabella family had somehow gotten hold of our project proposal, slashed the price by nearly 10%, and jumped into the negotiations. Now, the higherâups are reevaluating the situation.â
âLowered by 10%?â Naomi asked. âIs the Sabella family not interested in making money anymore?â
Dennis explained, âItâs about pride for them. They want to secure this project to put pressure on Goodwin Corporation. This project is governmentâfunded, and the initial bid wasnât very high. If we compete with an even lower bid, it would be selfâdestructive. Maybe thatâs what they want to see.â

He sighed again. âIf we donât secure the South Glistenville project, Goodwin Corporationâs position may drop to the second tier, and it will impact us over the next few years.â
After Dennis finished speaking, Naomi said, âSend me a copy of the project proposal and pricing. Iâll take
a look at them.â
Naomi was a law major, and she had a deep understanding of the industry. She had also worked as an inter in the companyâs legal department before and had experience handling proposals and bids, so it
wouldnât be difficult for her.
Dennis asked, âDo you have the extra time and energy for this? Can you handle your own work?â
Naomi replied, âI can make time.â
Then, she stood up and said, âIâll leave now, Dad. Just make sure to have the documents sent to my email.
Dennis walked her to the door and said, âAlright.â
After leaving Goodwin Corporation, Naomi didnât go to the law firm. Instead, she headed straight to the City Planning Department to investigate the status of the South Glistenville development project.
âNaomi, what a rare sight. What brings you here today?â
âMr. Turner, are you working today?â Naomi asked with a smile. âI had some free time, so I decided to drop by and express my interest in the cityâs future development. I wanted to see where it would be most suitable to buy a house.â
