âRick⦠Itâs really been a long time. The last time I saw you was probably at Little Bean and Puddingâs one month birthday party? Theyâre already three years old nowâ¦â
âYeah. Time sure flies fast. Letâs board the helicopter first, and Iâll take you guys to New Orleans. Thatâs my territory.â
Then, Rick led Huo Mian and Qin Chu into his helicopter.
âWait⦠thereâs one more thing that I have to deal with.â Rick turned around and glared icily at the motel. âBurn it all.â
âYes, Boss.â
By Rickâs command, the motel turned into ashes. This was all because the owner was on the gangstersâ side.
Huo Mian started to feel rattled as she sensed that the Rick she was looking at now wasnât exactly the Rick she knew, even though he looked exactly the same.
However, she couldnât describe what was different about him.
The helicopter flew towards New Orleans.
When Huo Mian first heard âNew Orleansâ, she thought of the chicken wings KFC soldâ¦
She now knew that New Orleans was a beautiful city.
It was just as beautiful as bigger cities like Los Angeles and New York.
The night view was dazzling.
The helicopter landed where Rick lived. The place was basically a castle on a hill.
Although it looked a bit antiquated, it was a rather delicate piece of art.
It was different than South Hill Manor because South Hill Manor looked much more modern.
Rickâs house was truly a castle. Apparently, it was built 120 years ago.
Rick led Qin Chu and Huo Mian directly into the dining area.
The chefs were hustling and bustling to prepare all sorts of extravagant dishes.
âLetâs talk while we eat,â Rick gestured.
Qin Chu acted like a gentleman and pulled out Huo Mianâs chair for her.
Then he placed a white napkin on her legs. He was quite considerate.
âItâs been years, but Chu still loves you so much.â Rick smiled.
âRick, itâs been years, and youâve learned how to joke aroundâ¦â Huo Mian also smiled.
âHe can only joke around with us. After all, he doesnât have that many friends,â Qin Chu said.
âWhy are you putting it like youâre my only friend?â Rick did not agree with Qin Chuâs statement.
Qin Chu then asked, âThink more carefully. Donât you think itâs true though?â
âOf course not. Huo Mianâs also my friend so I at least have two friends.â
âShe doesnât count. Sheâs my wife so we count as one,â Qin Chu argued.
Rick gave in as he put two hands in front of him and waved his head. âOkay, you win Mr. Arrogant Qin.â
The three chatted while enjoying the food. Huo Mian actually didnât really care whether the food was good or not because she enjoyed the conversation so much with her long lost friend.
âWhy would you two be staying at a motel⦠Itâs not your styleâ¦â Rick asked.
âPathetic, isnât it? Itâs her idea,â Qin Chu said as he took a bite of steak.
âHey, donât blame me for this. You agreed to it too!â Huo Mian pouted.
âI wanted to drive a few more hours and stay in Auckland for the night. Thereâs plenty of five-star hotels there.â
âI was worried youâd be tired, okay? Plus, itâs not safe to drive in the dark! The roads might be slippery.â Huo Mian pouted.
âYes, Honey. You are rightâ¦â
Rick watched as Qin Chu spoiled his wifeâ¦
He felt happy for them. After all, Rick and Gao Ran knew what difficult times Qin Chu and Huo Mian had been through in their relationship.
As a bystander, he thought of their relationship as an epic love story⦠Qin Chu and Huo Mianâs loved each other touched him so many times.
âPudding and Little Bean are already three years old. I bet theyâre talkative?â Rickâs eyes flickered softly.
