Huo Siqian raised his right hand up high and slapped that subordinate’s face hard.

The subordinate immediately felt agonizing pain on his cheek.

“I’ll kill you if you dare say something like that again,” Huo Siqian reprimanded with a glare.

“Yes, Sir. I understand…” He had wanted to please Huo Siqian but ended up beaten.

Huo Siqian turned around and walked away…

Another one of Huo Siqian’s subordinates whispered to that person who just got beaten up, “Boss loves Miss Huo and naturally, he loves her daughters too. Don’t say anything like that ever again or Boss will get very angry. You might not know this because you’re new but Boss isn’t willing to do anything that would make Miss Huo sad even though he wants to be with her desperately.”

“Okay, I understand.” The man who was just beaten up understood that he shouldn’t be so nosy.

Once Huo Siqian got in his car, his driver drove off.

Huo Siqian was sitting in the back seat. He tapped on the window of his luxury car with his long fingers, as if he had something in mind.

He suddenly took out his phone to call Huo Mian’s office.

Huo Mian had patients and their families in her office. She was rather busy so she picked up the ringing phone without looking at the caller ID.

“Hello, this is Doctor Huo from the Neurology Department at South Side,” she said in a crisp and clear voice.

“Mian…” he said in a hoarse voice.

The look on Huo Mian’s face slightly changed – she recognized Huo Siqian’s voice.

“Mian, I saw Pudding and Little Bean just now. Your daughters are…” Huo Siqian said with a smile on his face.

“What do you want?” When Huo Mian heard Huo Siqian’s words, she was terrified.

“I don’t want to do anything. I just bumped into them at the restaurant so I chatted with them. Pudding is very much like you. Even though she’s still young, she is very composed. Little Bean is funny and gregarious. She’s also like you, like how you are very direct and mean with your words.”

“Huo Siqian, don’t you dare lay a finger on my daughters. If you do, I’ll fight you till my last breath!” Huo Mian lowered her voice and threatened Huo Siqian.

“What am I to you?”

“What do you think?” Huo Mian scoffed.

“Fine. I know I’m not a good person but I’ve never wanted to hurt you. I never did and never will. I swear…” Huo Siqian said in a gentle voice. It was rare for him to try to explain something to someone.

“I don’t know how many times I heard you say things like that. Huo Siqian, I don’t believe a word you say. I know you have Ian behind you. If you want to boot-lick Ian, you can go and tell him my real identity. We will not be harmed by you. Sooner or later, we will have to face Ian. My husband and I aren’t afraid of him…”

“You think I’ll tell Ian… Haha…” Huo Siqian laughed bitterly.

“I don’t care what you do,” Huo Mian said. She was prepared for the worst.

“Ian is looking for you anxiously. I think he’s out of plans to lure your father and Lu Yan out so he’s trying to use his ultimate destructive plan… I told you before that I have nothing to do with that. I won’t ever give you up to Ian. I won’t let him hurt you…” Huo Siqian promised.

“If you really don’t want to hurt you, then stop harassing me. Stay far away from me. You have hurt me enough!” Huo Mian uttered.

“Mian, you’re being cruel with those words. I’m not as grandiose as Su Yu but I truly do love you. So, I must have you! As long as you come with me, you will achieve real happiness! Qin Chu cannot protect you but I can!”

“Stop trying to separate us. No matter what you say, I won’t believe a word you say…” Huo Mian thought Huo Siqian was being ridiculous. Why would he have the nerve to call her?

“Mian, if I die, would you be sad? Would you be even a little bit sad for me?” Huo Siqian suddenly changed the topic and asked such a blue question.
