“A life’s happiness.” Huo Siqian’s head suddenly shot up and met with Huo Mian’s eyes.

His eyes glimmered with a light that she had never seen before…

“I don’t understand what you mean. What are you putting on the line?” Huo Mian didn’t know what tricks Huo Siqian was pulling, so she kept her guard up.

“If you lose, you have to go everywhere with me…”

“If I lose, I’ll end my own life for you…”

After Huo Siqian finished speaking, Huo Mian was shocked. She didn’t know Huo Siqian would put so much on the line. “What do you want to bet with me?”

“I want to bet if you and Qin Chu can make it through my tests, is that good?” Huo Siqian hid his intentions behind a sly smile.

The smile gave chills up Huo Mian’s spine…

“Why do I have to bet with you?”

“Don’t you want to see if the man whom you proclaim to love would change his mind?”

“He would never.”

“You don’t have to provoke me, I would never get tricked into it. I put my absolute trust into Qin Chu, you can’t pick that apart with a mere few words.”

“So, my dear little sister Mian, are you scared?”

“What do I have to be afraid of?” Huo Mian was a little angered and turned to look at Huo Siqian.

“You aren’t so sure yourself, right? So, you’re afraid to bet with me. You’re scared that your relationship can’t withstand the test…”

“Whatever you say. How laughable… You could tie me up and throw me in a cellar, or I am leaving. I have no time for this.”

After speaking, Huo Mian walked out justly…

“Boss, are you letting Miss Mian go so easily?” his subordinate asked.

He knew that the guest was someone that his boss went to great lengths to bring here, and he let her go so easily. “I’m playing the long game.”

After speaking, Huo Siqian sent a video to Qin Chu.

Qin Chu’s phone rang. He watched the video and his face dropped.

He couldn’t hear the audio, but he could see Huo Mian sitting opposite from Huo Siqian. He was peeling shrimps and putting them in front of Huo Mian.

That was it. It only lasted for seven or eight seconds.

“Daddy, what’s wrong?” Little Bean was watching television and could tell that her father looked off.

“Nothing, just junk mail.” After Qin Chu finished speaking, he turned his phone off.

Not long after, Huo Mian returned home, “Hello, my babies.”

“Mommy, what took you so long? Did you have to work overtime?” Little Bean asked.

“Uh, yeah… I’ve been pretty busy at the hospital lately. I had a lot of surgeries to do,” Huo Mian lied.

You just did one?” Qin Chu casually asked.

“Mhm, yeah, what’s wrong?” Huo Mian flawlessly answered. She also didn’t sense that Qin Chu already knew. “Nothing, did you eat yet?”

“I have.” Huo Mian wasn’t hungry, so she lied again.

“I’m going to go shower. I’m exhausted.”

Huo Mian went upstairs, but she didn’t notice the subtle change on Qin Chu’s face.

-At nine at night –

Qin Chu finished working and went back to his bedroom. Huo Mian was laying on the bed with a medical textbook in her hand.

You’re done your work?” Huo Mian turned around and hugged Qin Chu.

“Mhm.”

“Honey, you okay? You seem off today,” seeing Qin Chu’s worrisome attitude prompted Huo Mian to question him.

“Honey, has Huo Siqian looked for you lately?” Qin Chu casually asked.
