“Um…I have to go, Chief Li asked me to come to get something.” The nurse immediately found an excuse to leave.

Huo Mian placed her hands in her lab coat pockets and walked up to the OR door. Zhang Manlin sat there without getting up.

“How’s the patient?”

“I thought you would ask me about the conversation just now.” Zhang Manlin stared calmly at Huo Mian.

“You’re thinking too much. I’m a doctor, it is my responsibility to care about patients.”

“Don’t you care about rumors that involve your husband?”

“They’re just rumors, they’re not true. I trust my husband.”

“Really? I didn’t think you’d be so okay with everything. Are you sure you’re not lying to yourself?”

“Your name is Zhang Manlin, right? I believe you’re just an accountant, why are you out here in the OR when you should be working on hospital finances? Aren’t you worried that I might fire you?”

“Fire me? Haha, you would never. You’re a fair boss.”

“You seem to know me very well.” Huo Mian looked at her without much emotion.

“Don’t you think we’re alike?” Zhang Manlin smiled at Huo Mian.

“What do you mean? Are you referring to our appearances or character?” Huo Mian asked. Then, before Zhang Manlin could respond, Huo Mian chuckled. “If you’re referring to our appearances, I’m not that surprised. This is a big world, it’s natural to bump into people who look like you. I’m not that good looking anyway, so you don’t get any benefits looking like me. We look ordinary.”

Vice Director, you’re very humorous when joking about yourself.” Zhang Manlin looked at Huo Mian with complicated emotions on her face.

“I’m not being humorous, I’m just telling the truth as it is. However, we shouldn’t talk about our character because I don’t know you. Plus, what kind of boss would waste time trying to compare characters with a subordinate, am I right?”

“Yes, Vice Director Huo, I am impressed by your quick wit,” Zhang Manlin said truthfully.

“I don’t care much for that… I also don’t care why you came to South Side, nor the person behind you… but I can assure you that you will not succeed in achieving your goal. You’re just wasting your time.”

“Oh yeah? How would we know the result when I haven’t even started yet,” Zhang Manlin continued to provoke.

“Then go ahead and try, but don’t regret your decision today.”

“Who knows, maybe you’ll be the one to regret your decision,” Zhang Manlin responded arrogantly.

“Sounds good, I’ll be waiting for that day.” Huo Mian smiled with disdain before turning around to leave.

As she watched Huo Mian leave, Zhang Manlin’s expression changed. She muttered to herself. “She sure is different from the rest.”

That evening, due to an emergency operation, Huo Mian was forced to work overtime at the hospital. It was already nine o’clock in the evening when she left the OR.

Vice Director Huo, you should go home and rest. We can take care of the patient.” The nurse felt bad for Huo Mian.

“I have to stay. The patient is still in critical condition and still has a bit of internal bleeding. Get Dr. Liu and Dr. Zhao for me, we need to work out a plan, the patient needs to undergo a second round of surgery.”

“Will do, Vice Director.”

Meanwhile, Qin Chu, his parents, and the twins were watching TV and chatting in their living room.

“Daddy, why aren’t you worried that Mommy isn’t home yet? Why aren’t you picking her up?” Little Bean asked cutely in her father’s lap.
