“Huo Mian, why are you here?” Gao Ran was taken aback.

“Gao Ran, I want to see Su Yu.” Huo Mian looked worried.

Gao Ran looked around and seeing no one around, he lowered his voice. “Come with me first.”

Huo Mian nodded and followed Gao Ran into his office.

“Sit,” Gao Ran said.

“What do you want to drink?” he asked.

“I don’t want anything to drink. Gao Ran, how is the case being handled?” Huo Mian asked.

“The victim reported the crime and we’re gathering evidence.”

“Is there any evidence?”

“Yes, there’s a fruit knife and Su Yu’s fingerprints are on it. Plus, when Liu Ze was attacked, Su Yu was there. It was at Liu Ze’s home too so it’s considered a home intrusion. Quite a few people from your work saw them so they’re all considered witnesses. Liu Ze sustained serious injuries… I heard that his wrist tendons are torn right?”

“Yes.” Huo Mian nodded.

“So, Liu Ze’s lawyer has asked the police to charge Su Yu with aggravated assault.”

“What… will happen?” Huo Mian was anxious.

“If the charges stick, he’ll go to prison. With the huge pressure from the media, I’m not sure if the Su Family can get him out of this one. Liu Ze might seem like a regular doctor but many of his relatives work in the provincial parliament… and they’re up there in rank. So this time, he’s really in trouble.”

“Su Yu wouldn’t do something like that,” Huo Mian explained.

“Then… can you let me see Su Yu?”

“That, I can do, but it has to be a short visit. 10 minutes, is that okay?” Gao Ran felt guilty.
