“What are the occupations of their parents?” Gao Ran asked.

“Three are in finance, most have businesses in the city, and one is a pair of university professors, with their grandfather being a retired party member.”

“Any enemies?”

Seeing the missing children pained Gao Ran’s heart.

Especially after Gao Ran became a father, he could finally understand what it felt like.

Other than the missing children, two other murders happened at the nightclub.

A morning of busy work at the City Bureau made Gao Ran agitated.

“Nothing, just here to eat your food…”

After Gao Ran spoke, he pulled up a chair to sit opposite Qin Chu.

Looking at Qin Chu’s lunch, Gao Ran realized that it was very simple.

There were only two vegetarian dishes, one being stir fried cucumbers and the other being stir fried broccoli. He also had a serving of tofu soup.

“Bro, are you trying to go vegan?” Gao Ran exclaimed.

“I haven’t had much of an appetite lately,” Qin Chu said in a melancholic tone.

“That doesn’t cut it for me, I want meat… Get some for me, I’m starving.”

Without speaking, Qin Chu called a number using the landline.

“Prepare another lunch set, two meats and two vegetables.”

Ten minutes later, the kitchen delivered Gao Ran’s meal. It was much more hearty than Qin Chu’s.

There was meat and fish, as well as Taiwanese braised meat rice with a soft boiled egg on top.

Gao Ran seemed to be starving, as he chomped down on the food without paying much mind to Qin Chu.

After drinking a few sips of soup, Qin Chu lost his appetite.

He kept going through reports…

“Chu…”

“Mhm?”

“I’ve encountered a difficult case. I have a feeling… I feel like some foreign being has invaded our city,” while eating, Gao Ran said.

“You must’ve watched too much Star Wars.”

Qin Chu laughed without following up, as he thought that Gao Ran’s words were outlandish.

“Chu, I’m not lying to you… I haven’t felt like this after many years of being a police officer. The body we found a few days ago, it was as mutilated as Song Yishi’s… The culprit must be someone more cruel and insane than Huo Siqian.”

“So? Director Gao, what’s your conclusion?” Putting down the documents, Qin Chu raised his head to look at Gao Ran.

“Chu, could it be that Huo Siqian is still alive?” Out of nowhere, Gao Ran made a sudden guess.
