His Ex wife is a billionaire Chapter 574
His Ex wife is a billionaire (Evadne and Thaddeus) Novel Full Episode
Chapter 574
Thaddeus lay sprawled on the couch, an expression of unjust accusation on his face.
âEvadne, I messed up, I admit I had one too many beers and made a fool of myself. Iâm sorry,â Arnold grumbled, seldom one to raise his voice at his sister, but now he was quick to own up to his mistakes.
âSo, k*ssing Camille was just another sl*pâup because of the booze? Hmph, men, always flirting and never committingâirresponsible, all of you!â
âNo, it wasnât like that.â
Arnold closed his eyes, shaking his head, âWhen I k*ssed her, I was sober. I knew what I was doing. Evadne, I really do fancy her. But sadly, it seems she doesnât feel the same. Without mutual affection, itâs doomed from the start. Plus, sheâs not keen on settling down, always chasing the next thrill, and we donât see eye to eye on everything. It was never meant to go the distance. Guess itâs gonna be tough to find you a sisterâinâlaw. Sorry to let you down.â
âArnold!â
Arnold said no more, his silhouette slumping as he left the villa.
âEvadne, Iâll go see Arnold off.â
Arnoldâs cab arrived, and just as he was about to hop in, Thaddeus grabbed him in the nick of time.
âWait up, Arnold. Iâve got a couple of things to say.â
Arnoldâs gaze was a bit unfocused, âWhatâs up?â
âFeelings can develop over time. Even if itâs not love at first sight, if you truly fancy Camille, you should give it a shot. Maybe youâll find a way to her heart. Donât leave yourself with regrets,â Thaddeus advised earnestly.
Arnold narrowed his eyes, âAnd what about you and Evadne? Three years of marriage, and youâre still not smitten?â
Thaddeus felt like heâd choked on a dry scone, speechless.
Surely a prosecutor, hitting where it hurts.
âIn the end, wasnât it a whole lot of drama, risking your n*eck more times than I can count, causing a ruckus in both our families before you made up?â
âBut I did win back Evadneâs heart, didnât I?â
Thaddeusâs Adamâs apple bobbed as he struggled to speak, âIf youâre committed, if you persist.â
âI know it sounds like Iâm mocking you, and I am, to some extent. But thereâs another reason.â
Arnold took a heavy breath, his normally bright eyes clouded, âI donât have your guts, and I donât want to mess things up like that. One headstrong romantic in the Ashbourne family is quite enough. We donât need a second. The deeper the love, the greater the pain. Thad, youâre a lucky guy. Anyone else might not have had your luck. Not everyone wants to walk the path youâve walked. In this life, I just need to protect my belief in justice, fulfill our motherâs last wish, and take care of my little sister. Thatâs plenty.â
The impatient driver poked his head out, âWe going or what?â
âOn my way!â
Arnold gave Thaddeus a curt wave and ducked into the cab, which quickly vanished into the night.
Thaddeus stood there alone, a puzzled frown on his face.
The joyous gathering stretched into the wee hours, but all parties must end, and the guests knew to gracefully make their exits.
Jason escorted Nydia home, Gordon took Beverly, and Chasel pestered Cassius to take him home.
âItâs only eleven. Youâre a grown man, hitting the gym every day. I reckon you can make your own way back,â Cassiusâs voice was cool, still miffed about Chaselâs antics under the table earlier that evening.
âBut Iâve had a few, you know, and Iâm feeling quite dizzy. You wouldnât want me wandering home alone, would you? If I got mugged, thatâs one thing, but what if I got raped? Itâs not entirely safe for guys out there these days either. Oh, my head.â
Chasel leaned in, feigning dizziness, and his acting skills were impressive.
Amazing!
Cassius didnât even spare him a glance, eyes lowered.
âCome on, Cassius, take Chasel home,â Aaron yawned reflexively, then added, âOur precinct has had three cases of male being

harrassed this year. I donât want a fourth. If anything happens to him, the Bright family would be down a good man.â
Chaselâs face twisted into a smug âexactlyâ expression.
Cassius clenched his jaw.
The guests hadnât all left when one of them hadnât seemed to move.
When Alva went to clean up, he found Elvis passed out on the balcony!
The balcony of all places!
Though there was a ledge, a simple turn in sleep could send him tumbling down. From the second floor, it wouldnât be a fatal fall, but it would be a nasty one nonetheless!
âGoodness, that boyâs lost his marbles! Completely bonkers!â
Alva rushed to the kitchen, where the couple was brewing a sobering soup, âMrs. Abernathy! Elvis is sound asleep on the balcony right now! I didnât dare wake himâIâm scared heâd roll right off the edge, and I canât be responsible for that!â
Thaddeus looked deeply concerned.
Evadne, stirring the pot, was nonchalant, âRelax, he wonât fall off. When he was a kid, heâd sleep anywhere high or steepârooftops, rockeries, trees. If he had a past life, he mustâve been a disciple of some ancient mountain sect.â
Thaddeus was speechless.
The Ashbournes sure let their kids run wild.
Was it because they had too many to keep track of?
Eventually, after Alvaâs urging, they went to find Elvis on the balcony.
âShould I go and carry him down?â Thaddeus whispered to her.
âWhy bother? Your arms are for holding me, not some stinky man. Just grab a blanket and cover him up.â
Evadne chuckled, looping her arm through his, âCongrats on getting Elvis wasted. First time in his life. You deserve another drink to celebrate.â
Thaddeusâs eyes widened slightly, âElvis didnât get drunk, did he? Heâs always been clearâheaded, just tired and fell asleep, thatâs all.â
âYou donât know him like I do. Our family drunkard, if heâs asleep, heâs done drinking. Otherwise, heâd outlast you âtil sunrise.â
As the couple whispered sweet nothings, Elvisâs phone erupted into a cacophony of rings.
After the third ring, he surprisingly answered with his eyes still closed, his voice thick with sleepiness.
âWhoâs this?â
A few seconds passed.
âYes! Iâm on my way back to the agency!â
Elvis acknowledged the call and then, with the agility of an athlete, he sprung up from the balcony, vaulting over the railing with a leap.
âElvis! Be careful!â
Thaddeusâs eyes widened in alarm, his b*dy leaning forward to intervene, but Evadne caught him in a tight embrace.
âRelax, relax, heâs fine. Donât believe me? Letâs take a look.â
Together, they approached the balcony railing, and sure enough, there was Elvis, unharmed and sprinting towards the gate of the
villa.
Where he had jumped, a small hole punctured the rail, as if marked by a nail.
âThese agents are walking arsenals, from head to toe. Whether itâs the second floor or the fifth, heâll jump without hesitation.â Seeing Thaddeusâs startled expression, Evadne gently caressed his cheek to comfort him, âHe must have received a new mission from the agency, thatâs why heâs rushing back. And not saying goodbye? Probably because he lost a drinking game to you and couldnât face you.â
With a chuckle, Thaddeus shook his head. âHeâs quite the young spirit.â
Grinning, Evadne wrapped her arms around his strong waist and cooed, âMentally, heâs still in grade school. Cut him some slack, will you?â
