24H | SEVENTEEN
Hyun pulled the brakes and turned off the engine. "We are here Rumi." Hyun said turning to look at her. A chuckle left his mouth. Rumi had fallen asleep, her hair covering her face while her mouth slightly open. "You must have been tired." Hyun said as he clicked open his seatbelt and turned towards her. Rumi had been working too hard from past few days. She was working as a normal employee by day and as an agent by night. Her suggestion was implemented after the last meeting with captain. They did get help from other team but Hyun and Rumi had to do their part too. No matter how much Rumi complained, she was still a diligent worker as an employee and agent.
"Gwiyeowo." Hyun smile tucking her hair behind her ear. "Looks so innocent while sleeping." Hyun had finally come to realize; he did have some feelings for her. He didn't know what part of her personality attracted him because she was opposite of what he thought of an ideal type. He liked someone who was petite and sweet, someone who he would protect all his life. Like when she sees a cockroach, she would jump up in his arms in fear asking him to save her. "You would just smack it with a slipper, won't you?" Hyun laughed looking at peacefully sleeping Rumi. His fingers moved from her hair to her cheeks, hesitantly grazing them. "I know, you pretend to be strong all the time. That you don't need anyone by your side. That you can endure it all alone." He whispered grazing his thumb over her cheek bone. "But, can't you let me protect you?"
"Mmm..." Rumi whined feeling something tickling her cheek. Opening her eyes, she noticed Hyun leaning over. "What are you doing?" She asked her voice hoarse.
"Nothing. There was something on your face." Hyun leaned back in his chair, his heart beating fast and loud. "Can you hear it?" He asked worried she might hear it.
"Mwo?" Rumi asked looking around still not fully awake. "Are we home?" She asked looking outside. Hyun nodded his head not feeling confidence in his voice. "Okay. Gomavo, I'll see you later. Bye." Rumi drowsily said before getting off the car. She waved at Hyun and walked off. Hyun let out his breath that he was holding. "She didn't hear a thing, did she?" Hyun asked looking at himself in rear view mirror.
"Oppaaaaa..." Rumi called as she pushed closed the door behind him. "Oppaaa..." She called again kicking of her shoes and started unbuttoning her shirt. Hearing her calls Youngjae was by her side fixing her shoes to the rack while placing house slippers for her to wear which she kicked aside.
Youngjae sighed standing up. "Aigoo, you look tired today." Youngjae said taking her shirt in his hand and guiding her to their little dinning table in front of the kitchen counter. He filled her a glass of water and handed it to her. "Aigoo uri Rumi-ya." He cooed stroking her head. Rumi gulped down the glass of water and leaned in the Youngjae's touch feeling comfortable.
"Oppa, I am very tired." She murmured cuddling into his touch as he continued to stroke her head.
"Was work hard on you today? How's your back? Is it still paining?" Youngjae asked looking down at her. Rumi shook her head.
"It's not. But because of those pills I felt sleepy today. I told you I didn't want to take those. The wound is fine already." She whined with little pout on her lips.
"Aarso. Aarso. We'll have the doctor check it and see if it fine or not." Rumi narrowed her eyes at him. "Mwo? If it's fine then you won't have to take pills anymore." He smiled pinching her cheek. Rumi scoffed in returned before cursing at Hyun. "Why are you cursing that poor boy? He did what I couldn't. I should treat him to a dinner." Youngjae said with teasing smile on his face.
"Oppaa..."
"Aarso. But you need to take medicines, those are for your own good. Your body need rest."
"I can't be resting right now." Rumi said rolling her eyes. "There is so much work to d- Wonwoo-ssi?" Rumi squinted her eyes to look at the head peeking from the couch.
"Annyeonghaseyo." Wonwoo greeting with awkward smile on his face.
"Haha. I didn't notice you there." Rumi let out a forced laugh and stood up pushing Youngjae away. She quickly ran to the entrance and put on the house slippers. Youngjae let out a snort earning a look from her. "I-I will freshen up, excuse me." She smiled before hurriedly making her way to her room while almost falling face first on floor.
"Yah! Cheoncheonhi! (Slowly!)" Youngjae laughed as Rumi closed the door shut behind her. "You must have seen her in different light today, huh?" Youngjae said making Wonwoo look at him. "That's rare side of her, which she rarely lets out." Youngjae smiled, Wonwoo smiled back thinking back to Rumi's pouty face from earlier. "She had to pretend to be grown up at very young age you know, trapping the child inside her. She never got live her childhood, had to be pretend to be strong, stiff to protect her loved ones." Youngjae explained with a sad smile on his face. "Sometimes I wish I had met her earlier so she wouldn't have to be in this shell of pretend. I feel so happy you know whenever she lets out, makes me feel like she's finally comfortable. I feel as if I am special person to her."
"You are hyung." Wonwoo said turning so he was fully facing Youngjae. "The other day Rumi-ssi was telling about how you are her everything. That you mean more to her than her real family." A smiled formed on Youngjae's face hear that.
"She said that?" He asked not being able to hide his happiness. "I didn't think she would talk about me." He laughed shaking his head as if not believing Wonwoo's words.
"Talk about who?" A very freshen up Rumi walked out. Dressed decently, not in men's boxer and some old t-shirt with holes. "Were you bitching about me?" She asked glancing at both men while making her way to kitchen counter.
"Rumi-ya!!!" Youngjae exclaimed throwing his arms around Rumi and squeezing her. "Rumi-ya do you know that oppa really, really loves you!" He said placing kisses on her head.
"Yah!" Rumi turned her face away avoiding his kisses. "Let go of me!" She yelled trying to put distance in them. "Kim Youngjae you better let go of me!"
"Wae? You weren't complaining earlier." Youngjae said teasingly but still letting her go because he wanted his balls. "You were all oppa, I am so tired..." He teased glancing Wonwoo who was trying to hide his laughter.
"Shut it." Rumi warned picking up the kettle to fill water in it. "Have had dinner yet?" She asked. "Of course, we did." Rumi nodded. "Hmm, I thought you would keep guest with empty stomach."
"Yah! What do you think of me? How can I keep him empty stomach? I would never! How many goods would I have to do get a chance like this? Its stupid of you to think that I would keep my favourite idol empty stomach." Youngjae started blabbering while Rumi looked at Wonwoo with smile and rolled her eyes at Youngjae's antics causing Wonwoo to chuckle. "And why are you making coffee at this time?"
"Uh? Karan (Because) I want to drink it?" Rumi answered turning on the kettle.
"Wae? Did you have dinner? You did text me you would but I don't believe you."Â Youngjae asked putting his hands on his waist. Rumi rolled her eyes. "I did with Hyun you ask him." Youngjae narrowed his eyes in suspicion. "Since when you started eating with others? Is there something I need to know? Did I guess right that night?!"
"Ugh! Stop it will you? Ka? Ka? Mala kalat nai. (Why? Why? I don't understand.) Everybody's behind my dating life. Why do I need to have someone at this age? And I had dinner with him because we both were hungry and I was with him that time." Rumi explained picking the kettle and pouring the water in instant coffee cup.
"You at age of almost thirty, you need have someone." Youngjae said following Rumi who plopped herself down on couch. Wonwoo stared at them fascinated. Hearing them quarrel was far more interesting than watching a movie, Youngjae hyung kept nagging at her like a mother would and Rumi-ssi, hearing her speak in her mother tongue felt-well Wonwoo didn't know how to explain that feeling. "You never eat with others!"
"That's rich coming out of your mouth." Rumi rolled her eyes. "And Wonwoo-ssi, tell me would like to have your food with someone whom you work with all day or would you prefer to have it alone in peace?" Wonwoo was little stunned being dragged into their conversation like that.
"Uh, I don't know, maybe eat alone in peace?" He answered not sure.
"See. But today I was hunger and couldn't leave the site, so we had dinner nearby." Rumi explained picking up her cup and sipped on her coffee. "Tula fakta karan pahije badbadayla. (You just need reason to nag at me.)" She murmured. Youngjae slapped her arm. "You better not curse at me young lady!" Rumi glared at him. "I did not!"
"I heard you muttering something under your breath!"
"But I did not curse at you!"
"How would I know that?!"
"Then why did you hit me?!" Rumi placed her cup back on the table and started twisting her wrist. "I have warned you. You do not hit me."
"Yah-yah-yah. Jamkkanman!" Youngjae backed away in fear. He was about jump away and run when Rumi caught his leg and pulled him back so he was on floor as Rumi held him in chokehold while casually siting on couch. Wonwoo stared at them wide eyed. "Rumi-ya mianhae. Oppa forgot. Oppa jinja mianhae!" Youngjae screamed tapping her arm asking her to let go. "AH! Rumi-ya you can't be doing this, not in front of my idol!" As if something smacked her head with realization. Rumi looked up to see Wonwoo staring at them with wide eyes.
"Ah! Hahaha!" Rumi laughed letting go Youngjae who feel on his knees head bowed to ground. "Joking. We were just joking." Rumi smiled before elegantly placing one leg over other and picking up her coffee cup.
"How can you do this to me?" Youngjae said he head still bowed in defeat.
"Hyung, gwenchana? Rumi-ssi?" Wonwoo looked at Rumi worriedly who waved her hand. "He's being overdramatic, don't mind him. Yah! Get up you are worrying him." She said nudging Youngjae. Youngjae let out a huge sigh before getting up and placing himself back no couch.
"I am fine Wonwoo-ssi, just little embarrassed."Â Youngjae said putting on a smile while throwing a glare at Rumi's direction who shrugged her shoulders in return. "How are you gonna sleep after drinking coffee"
"I have to go-" Rumi stopped and glanced at Wonwoo and corrected her words. "-do. I have lot of work to do which would need staying up all night." She explained. Wonwoo glanced at the pair of tom and jerry suddenly acting weird not that they already weren't but weirder. Rumi-ssi was doing some head movements and Youngjae was copying them? What was happening here? Wonwoo looked from one to another before giving up.
"Umm, can I use the washroom?" He asked stopping their weird head dance.
"Oh, why not please." Youngjae said getting up. "Do you need help finding?"
"No." That came out quicker than he wanted it to. To be honest, the washroom reminded him of the unfortunate events but he still to go. "I know from the other day." Wonwoo smiled. Youngjae nodded smiling. "Right." Wonwoo nodded back before quickly walking away feeling the urgency.
As soon as he was out of there, Rumi pulled Youngjae back on couch. "What is he doing here?"
"What do you mean what is he doing here? I invited him over." Youngjae replied with are you dumb tone in his voice.
"I invited him over." Rumi imitated him. "Are you dumb or what? Do you how dangerous this situation is for me? Do you want me to die from suffocation?" Rumi asked grabbing Youngjae by his t-shirt.
"But it's not that dangerous. You are doing well." Youngjae reasoned.
"Oppa."
"Ara but really, it's fine. He is a nice guy and you need some friends."
"Oppa, he asked Gu Hwa about me. The one who protected them that night. What if he recognizes me?! What am I to do then?"
"Mwo?" Youngjae's eyebrow shot up. "If he still hasn't than I think we are okay." Youngjae smiled patting her shoulder.
"You are just going to sacrifice me for spending time with your idol, aren't you?" Youngjae giggled nodding his head in answer. "Oppaaa..." Rumi whined as Youngjae engulfed her in his arms thanking her.
"Umm, I should leave now." Wonwoo walked out taking in the change of scenario. These two are really weird, one moment they are quarreling like cat and dog and other they are this loving pair.
Hearing his voice, Rumi pushed Youngjae away, quite hard to be mentioned. Youngjae again found himself on floor head bowed. "Ah, really? Let me walk you out." Rumi stood up stiffly and stepped over Youngjae making her way to the door. "Have you brought any jacket with you, it's quite cold outside." Rumi asked. Wonwoo smiled picking up his jacket from the couch.
"Hyung, I'm leaving." Wonwoo side looking at very dejected Youngjae, who smiled and nodded his head. Wonwoo not knowing how to respond just decided to leave. Rumi helped him with door before herself following behind. "You don't need to." Wonwoo said as she closed the door behind her.
"Oh, it's fine." Rumi smiled pressing elevator button; doors opened, she put her hand out for Wonwoo to walk. Wonwoo muttered a thank you while stepping inside. "How are you getting back? Did you call for a taxi or did you drive here?" Rumi asked turning to look at him. Wonwoo had pulled out his gloves and was putting them on. Rumi smiled. "Do they fit well?"
Wonwoo glanced at her a smile forming on his face too. "Yes, they do. Thank you for such a thoughtful gift." Wonwoo replied trying to put on the other glove. "Let me." Rumi said taking his hand in hers. "I was little hesitant if they will fit or not. You've got quite slender fingers, long and beautiful." She said admiring long fingers. They were quite beautiful compared to hers. Realizing what she said, she quickly apologized before helping him and letting go of his hand.
"Did you make these?" Wonwoo asked clearing his throat. Suddenly he felt his cheeks heating up and he need to divert his attention.
"I did." Rumi apologetically smiled. "Actually, made them months ago, I was trying to quit smoking by letting out my stress through knitting but I just picked up another hobby instead of quitting a bad one." Rumi laughed shaking her head.
"They are quite nice. Keeps me warm." Wonwoo smiled looking at her. Suddenly Rumi's laughter was gone, she felt this ticklish feeling in her chest. Kay? He kay ahe? (What? What is this feeling?) She asked herself as her hand went to her chest. "Rumi-ssi? Rumi-ssi?" Wonwoo called waving his hand.
"Ah. De? De?" Rumi blinked her eyes getting out of the trance. They have reached their destination and Wonwoo was holding the doors open by his foot. "Yeah, lets go." Rumi nodded stepping out.
"Are you okay?"
"What me? I am fine! I am very good." Rumi replied forcing out a laugh. "Hahaha."
"Okay, then. My taxi is waiting." Wonwoo side nodding towards the taxi waiting outside the gate.
"Ah ye. Please. Have a safe journey and text oppa when you reach home. He might get worried if you don't." Rumi smiled. "Then, bye." She bowed towards him in ninety degrees before turning around and leaving not even waiting for Wonwoo's response.
"Ha." Wonwoo laughed. "What a cutie."
