Chapter 222 Archie let out a high–pitched scream, as if he had been electrocuted, and fell flat onto the ground.

“Stop!” Nyx was taken aback and quickly reprimanded Chubby.

She never expected Chubby to pull such a stunt. He had always behaved so obediently in front of her that she had momentarily forgotten his true nature.

This was the same mischievous little hatchling who had dared to sneak out of his eggshell to explore the outside world.

Archie’s legs had gone completely limp, his mind blank.

As soon as Chubby released him, Archie immediately looked like he had just survived a catastrophe. He gasped for breath, his body still cold, unable to recover for a long time.

The guilty little Chubby slinked back to Nyx, shrinking his head in a rare moment of sheepishness.

This was the first time he had ever seen someone afraid of him. He found it amusing and couldn’t resist teasing a little. But he clearly remembered that Archie used to like him a lot. He thought, ‘Why is he scared now? How strange.

“Apologies,” Erik sighed helplessly, reaching out to pull Archie off the floor, offering an apology on Chubby’s behalf.

“I–It’s fine,” Archie stammered, belatedly feeling embarrassed and humiliated. He forced a smile that looked even worse than crying, trying to change the topic. “Where’s Chubby?”

Just now, he vaguely heard Nyx call out that name.

Scanning the room, Archie landed his gaze on a hatchling incubator sitting on the table. Overjoyed, he rushed over and scooped it up–egg and all–into his arms. “Chubby! I missed you so much!”

It was only after holding up the incubator that he noticed another one placed right beside it.

“Sis, why is there another egg? Which one is Chubby?” Archie asked.

The living room fell into dead silence.

Nyx’s expression twitched as she struggled to hold back her laughter. In the end, she couldn’t help it and let out a snort.

Tilting his head, Chubby looked at Archie with a puzzled expression. “Chubby is right here.”

Archie stiffened. Slowly, with robotic stiffness, he turned his head toward the voice.

When his eyes met the gaze of the little python, his breath caught in his throat.

“The one you’re holding is Sky, and the one on the table is Ash. I’m Chubby,” Chubby patiently explained.

Archie felt like he was suffocating. Clutching his head, he had to sit down to process everything. He thought, ‘How did things end up like this?‘

“Chubby, apologize to Archie,” Nyx urged. “You scared him just now.”

If she hadn’t mentioned it, Archie might have been able to move on. But the moment she did, he wanted to cry even more.

He had never been so mortified in his life.

Chapter 222 shattered–he couldn’t hold onto even a shred of pride.

Archie felt helpless inside. He forced out a couple of laughs. “Chubby sure has grown big”

He thought, ‘It has only been a few months. How did Chubby go from a tiny little egg to such a massive python? An alien is terrifying beyond words.

“I’m sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have scared you on purpose,” Chubby admitted with a sincere attitude. “But I’m not big at all.

My dad is the big one. My dad is a huge python, super majestic. Do you want to see him?”

Following Chubby’s gesture, Archie looked towards Jaws. The moment his gaze met those gentle, smiling, and blood–red eyes, he shuddered and immediately looked away.

He didn’t even dare to imagine just how big Chubby’s so–called “huge” actually was.

Although Earth was fortunate to have established diplomatic relations with the Beastmen Empire, humanity still knew very little about them.

Before this, Archie had only vaguely understood that these extraterrestrials were called Beastmen, and in his mind, he had pictured them as something like werewolves–pretty cool in his eyes.

He had never imagined that Nyx would be so bold as to marry a giant python and have a child.

The commotion finally came to an end when Chubby transformed into his human form.

The moment Archie saw Chubby’s chubby little face and his soft, squishy body, his eyes lit up instantly. He was back in the game. “Chubby, come here, let me hug you-”

Before he could even touch Chubby, Layla pushed him aside without hesitation and scooped Chubby up in her arms, examining him from every angle and then grinning from ear to ear.

“Nyx, you really know how to give birth!” In all Layla’s years, Chubby was the cutest child she had ever seen.

Nyx’s colleagues were still trying to wrap their heads around the situation, but they had at least figured out one thing–this was Nyx’s child.

Feeling a little embarrassed, they patted their empty pockets. “Sorry, but we didn’t bring any gifts for the child.”

“It’s fine; come have a seat.” Nyx waved them over.

The male Beastmen naturally served drinks and snacks to the matron’s guests, which left the Earthlings feeling uneasy and on edge.

They had heard that these individuals all held extremely high statuses–so high that even Earth’s top officials had to show them the utmost respect.

The only reason they were able to sit here, chatting and having snacks, was purely thanks to Nyx’s influence.

In fact, it wasn’t just them–Earth as a whole owed its survival to Nyx after she saved them from the flood crisis.

“Ever since the flood stopped, order has been gradually returning to normal,” Bruce told Nyx about Earth’s current situation.

Initially, the arrival of alien spacecraft had caused a massive shock to Earth’s civilization. But as time passed and the aliens didn’t reappear, people gradually resumed their usual work and lives.

In the vast universe, a few billion people were nothing more than a drop in the ocean. The entire race would soon become fragmented, fade into obscurity, and eventually disappear.

“Earth isn’t ready to formally join the interstellar world just yet. At the very least, we need to develop into a galactic civilization before we can qualify for the Star Alliance.” Bruce adjusted his glasses, his tone both weary and hopeful. “I wonder if I’ll ever live to see that day.”

“Everyone is grateful to the Beastmen Empire for their help, and even more so to you,” he pressed his hands together and bowed his head solemnly in gratitude to Nyx.

Back when Nyx had ended up on Earth, she hadn’t exactly had an easy time. Although the family that mistreated her was now despised by all and hunted like rats in the streets, that still couldn’t erase the pain she had endured.

Yet, despite everything, Nyx never held a grudge against all of humanity. Her magnanimity was truly admirable in their eyes.

Nyx simply smiled and shook her head. To her, Earth wasn’t all bad, but it wasn’t great either. She had been abused there, but she had also made some friends–and, of course, there was the adorable Dollar.

She waved at the chubby Dollar. “Come here, Dollar, I’ve got some little fish for you.”

Hearing the call, Dollar immediately leaped out of his owner’s arms and trotted over eagerly, clinging to Nyx’s leg.

“Kitty.” Chubby’s eyes lit up.

Even though Aurelius was also a kitty, he never got a chance to play with Aurelius–only Nyx could. But he wanted to play with the kitty too.

Chubby mimicked a cat’s call, spreading his arms wide as he excitedly lunged at Dollar.

Out of respect for Nyx and just being generous to a cub, Dollar was very patient with him. He even retracted his claws completely and allowed Chubby to hug it.

The two chubby little guys tumbled together, creating an impossibly cute scene. Everyone couldn’t help but smile.

They ran around the living room, chasing and playing. Eventually, they outgrew the space and dashed straight into Nyx’s bedroom.

“Should we go get Dollar out of there?” The boss looked a little nervous.

“It’s fine; don’t worry about it.” Nyx reassured him. She never minded having fluffy visitors in her bedroom.

Just as she finished speaking, the sound of something shattering suddenly echoed from the room.

The boss sucked in a sharp breath, looking so embarrassed that he wished he could disappear into the floor.

“It’s okay; I’ll check it out.” Nyx waved him off. “I forgot I had things on my desk–that’s on me.”

Jaws stood up and gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze. “I’ll go.”

He pushed open the door and saw the broken bottle of catnip perfume on the floor. The air was thick with its scent. His brow twitched, and he immediately shut the door tight. But he was a step too late.
