Chapter 4

"Honey, is there a problem?" Mum asks while I'm eating.

"Why would you think there's a problem?"

"You've been staring real hard at your food like it's a convict and you're trying to know whether it's innocent or not."

"Really? I didn't notice.

Nothing's wrong. I'm just thinking" I smile

"About what?"

"Mum." I stress, groaning.

"Fine, fine. Just checking on you." The door bell rings. "That must be Mia."

"Yeah." I stuff the remaining in my mouth, waving at mum.

I wouldn't want to talk with my mouth full else I'll be up for like two hours watching some dining etiquette movie. I open the door, wave at Mia and close it after coming outside.

"Good morning to you too and it would be best if you finished that before coming with me." She stands at a spot holding her phone.

"All good " I gulp down the remaining.

"Great, let's go before I become a late person like you." She drags my arm.

"Hey I thought we were over that; I'm not a late bird." I yell making her laugh.

"Is that even a thing?"

"I don't know but there's early bird so..."

"Right... Who was the black haired girl in the SR yesterday?" she asks changing the subject.

"I thought you went home." How did she know?

"Go home while you and Thomas were there? Heck no."

"Excuse me?" What is she trying to say?

"You two might have had a moment if not for that girl."

I roll my eyes. "I don't know who she is. I tried introducing myself but she totally ignored me and I could tell from the tone of her voice that she wasn't pleased."

"I've told you not everyone is worthy of kindness."

"Well sorry for not knowing that my co-worker would ignore me or something."

She sighs. "You have to be more harsh; have some guts."

"I've got guts." I defend.

"Sure you do. What was she doing?"

"Weren't you there?"

"Yeah, but I got a call from Jay Jay." She gives me a genuine smile.

"I see where he gets May May from." She keeps smiling. "Anyways, she called Thomas Thomy." I tell her earning a whole-hearted laugh.

"Th-o-m-y?" She keeps laughing.

"Yeah, it's not really funny."

"To you, it's not but to me, it's more than funny." She keeps laughing. I shake my head and roll my eyes before walking faster. She thinks it's a joke, but it's not. It's disgusting and he even answered her. Why would he, what kind of nickname is that?

I feel her grab my arm.

"Were you serious?" She asks, walking up to me.

"Yes?!" I yell making her flinch and I calm down. "Sorry." I don't even know what's wrong with me.

"It's ok. You just proved you've got guts." She smiles earning a chuckle from me.

8:30 am.

It's like time is standing still while I keep hoping Thomas doesn't come in. I don't think I'll be able to talk to him without blowing up for a reason I don't know. So I take out my phone, lay on the sofa, and start reading a book on wattpad.

"Hey." I look up to find Mia.

"Hey." I keep reading.

"Trying to pass time, yeah?" She asks sitting down.

"Yeah, it's so boring." I groan.

"You could join me talk to people."

"Thanks but no thanks. I'd rather stay here." Just as i say that, Thomas walks in. Uh oh. "Um I... "

"Yeah, I'll be going." She cuts me off walking away quickly.

What a great best friend she is.

"What's up with her?" He nods his head towards Mia's direction.

"Serious problems as always."

"I heard that." she yells from nowhere.

"You always do." I smile, shaking my head before I focus on the book I was reading.

"Whats up?" He asks siting down.

"I'm reading."

"About?" He urges on.

"Billionaire's ex-wife. Some billionaire had a wife whom he divorced because of some pictures his secretary showed him of her cheating so she has to live with her best friend. I just kinda started."

"I wasn't actually asking about the whole story."

"Sure you weren't." I state sarcastically.

"Ok... " he stresses giving me a questioning look. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, everything is just peachy, don't you think?" I half-yell making him frown and I sigh. "Sorry sorry." I pinch the bridge of my nos, taking a deep breath. I better ask now before i do something wrong. "Thomas?"

"Yeah?" His mood brightens.

"Who was the girl here yesterday?"

"Bailey." He smiles.

"Ok."

"She's a cook here." He continues.

"Sure." It's now or never.

Just ask mel it's no big deal. I take a deep breath

"Is she uh... Are you two you know... Dating?" I put my phone down.

"Um, yeah we are."

"Oh." That's all I'm able to say. I put my phone inside my bag while standing "I... I have to go." I start walking away but I'm stopped by him grabbing my arm.

"Is there a problem?" He asks.

I open my mouth but no words come out, so i close it and shake my head signifying there isn't a problem. After a while, he still doesn't let go of my arm "Uh Thomas?" I look our hands hoping he would get what I'm saying but he only tightens his grip. If he is trying to give me a heart attack, it's working.

"Are we cool? I mean I didn't do anything wrong so we're friends right?" Immediately he asks, Bailey walks in.

"Yeah." I put on a small smile and he let's go. I walk away as fast as I can heading to the bathroom.

What am i thinking?

Of course he's in a relationship and we're friends. Nothing more, nothing less. Besides, he's a cool person so I better not screw our friendship because of some stupid emotions.

I breathe in and out numerous times before leaving to start working.

I sigh, entering the SR with Mia to get our things. Bailey and Thomas are in a corner talking and laughing. Mia has a confused look on and I'll probably have to tell her about them.

"Hey." Thomas greets from the far end while bailey starts using her phone.

"Hey." I greet back.

"Hey?" Mia more of asks.

"You two heading home already?" Still Thomas.

"Yeah, we're done with work." Mia answers with a duh tone.

"So you don't do anything else or hang out with people?"

"We hang out with each other and Jay Jay." I stress his name teasing Mia, not missing the confused and slightly sad look on Thomas's face.

"He's James, my boyfriend." Mia speaks up. She probably noticed the look on Thomas's face.

"Oh, okay." He replies, his face slightly back to normal.

"Well, we'll be leaving now." I smile walking out with Mia.

"What was that?" Mia asks.

"What?"

"Him and the girl, the look on his face when you said Jay Jay, heck even you were acting like i don't... "

"I get it, I get it." I cut her off. "Firstly,  the girl's name is Bailey and they are dating but concerning his face and mine, I don't know what you're talking about."

"He looked like he just found out you were in a relationship and he wasn't happy about it." That doesn't make sense to me.

"You have a wild imagination I don't understand." Please stop explaining.

"Like he's not happy you are dating- that's if you were anyway and you were acting like you're reminding yoursel... "

"I get it!" I yell to make her stop and luckily, she stops. "Let's talk about something else or not talk at all." I think I'm losing it.

"Sorry." She apologizes and the walk home was silent.

She has got it BAD lol.

To think it's only been a few days they've known each other.

Will dianna be able to forget about her little crush on Thomy and be friends?

What's with Bailey against Mia and Dianna.
