Chapter 77
Billionaire’s Missing Darling
Yvonne knew well about how to behave. This time, she brought gifts for everyone, including a gift for Olivia.
It was a beautiful gemstone necklace which was quite expensive.
Upon seeing the gift, Amelia ed, âWhy did you bring her a gift? She doesnât deserve something so nice.â She was no longer hiding her disgust towards Olivia.
Yvonne glanced at Amelia and felt surprised. She didnât expect Emma to hold such a significant place in Ameliaâs heart. Amelia was willing to forgo even her pride just to slander Olivia and side with Emma.
Yvonne pretended to be embarrassed. âPreviously, because of me, Olivia was embarrassed and couldnât come home. I felt bad, so I thought of giving her a gift to apologize.â
âItâs not your fault,â Amelia comforted her. âFrom now on, Olivia has nothing to do with the Taylor family.
You donât have to care about what she thinks. There are only you and Emma as the granddaughters of the Taylor family.â
âWhat happened?â Yvonne pretended to be surprised.
Amelia reassured her and said, âItâs fine.â Then, she turned to Liam. âThat girl doesnât know how to appreciate favors. Sheâs also vicious and ungrateful. Keeping her in the Taylor family will only ruin our reputation. Itâs best to announce her dismissal in the newspaper and take back the shares she holds in the Taylor family.â
Worried that Liam might not agree, Amelia looked at Yvonne and added, âAfter retrieving the shares, we can distribute them to Emma and Yvonne.â
Liam sighed. âIt has only been half a year since the banquet was held to announce that we found Olivia and it was reported in the newspaper. If we announce her dismissal now, the Taylor family will become the laughingstock of the entire upperâclass society.â
âItâs better to endure shortâterm pain than prolonged suffering!â Amelia sneered. âIf we donât act now, with her wicked nature, she might do even more malicious things. When the time comes, the Taylor family will be implicated and it will be even more painful.â
Liam remained silent for a moment before saying, âItâs fine to retrieve the 10:32 shares, but letâs skip the newspaper announcement.â
Amelia smiled. âThatâs right. Of course, we have to give the Taylor familyâs shares to the granddaughters of the Taylor family. So, Yvonne and Emma will split it equally.â
Liam nodded. âOkay.â
Upon hearing this, Yvonne immediately refused. âItâs okay to give them to Emma. How am I supposed to be a member of the Taylor family and accept the shares? No, I canât accept them.â
Emma quickly echoed her. âI canât accept them either.â
Their modesty pleased Amelia, who clapped her hands with a smile. âThese are our daughters from the Taylor family. So magnanimous! Unlike the one upstairs, she is narrowâminded, with a small mentality, moneyâminded. She didnât even hesitate to accept it, without any show of modesty.â
The butler added with a smile, âResearchers might have prestigious titles, but theyâre often quite poor.
Relatives from my husbandâs family work in research institutes, with many impressive titles, but they canât even afford a down payment of 200 thousand dollars.â
Thinking of Oliviaâs shabby appearance and the cheap clothes she was wearing without even a brand, Amelia frowned.
She felt no heartache, but embarrassment.
Amelia expressed her concerns and told William, âI remember sheâs a shareholder of Charm, so she should have shares and shouldnât be short of money.â
William was not wellâversed in this matter and can only inferred based on experience. âHer shareholding might not be that substantial. Moreover, Charm has only been doing well for a couple of years. The dividends might not be that much.â
âSheâs not worthy of the limelight,â Amelia said coldly. âA pheasant canât become a phoenix even if it flies to the top. Sheâs not deserving of good things.â
As she spoke, she turned to Yvonne. âYvonne, keep the necklace, it would be a waste to give it to her.
By the way, after such a long flight, you must be tired. Go upstairs and rest.â
Yvonne elegantly ascended the stairs and entered the room that the butler had prepared for her. She leaned back in a chair and idly played 10:32 with the diamond necklace.
She couldnât help but think that Olivia was truly in trouble this time. She thought that even the god seemed to be favoring her. She felt lucky to invite the renowned doctor, Isaac, and obtain the precious pill that was hard to come by. Speaking of which, even she was surprised.
Initially, she did not have much expectation. She was surprised that she managed to obtain it in the end. She hadnât expected Isaac to agree so readily and even offer her the precious pill, claiming it was beneficial for human health.
She was well aware that the one truly in charge of the Taylor family was Liam. So she needed his support.
But why would he abandon his own granddaughter and support an outsider like her?
Yvonne knew she needed to make herself more valuable to sway Liamâs favor away from Olivia.
And now, she had succeeded.
With Isaacâs assistance and the precious pill, her position was rockâsolid. No one could threaten her status in Liamâs heart, not even William.
She chuckled inwardly. Well, it was Williamâs incapability for not being able to invite Isaac.
Amelia had been waiting for embarrassing photos of Olivia all day and into the night. But there was no sign of any activity from her room. She couldnât wait any longer and pushed the door open.
Upon entering, she saw a slender figure sitting on the bed. The personâs back was very thin and seemed to be fragile. Her arms were so slender as if they could break with a slight fold. But her waist remained straight as if she was leaning against the wall.
The posture was casual yet elegant.
Amelia came from a prominent family, so she had seen many debutantes. Under this influence, she had high standards for a womanâs posture and was quite picky about it.
But no matter how critical she was, she couldnât find any fault in Oliviaâs posture.
She was pleased with what she saw and instinctively nodded. However, her gaze then fell upon the coat by the bed, and her expression turned to disgust.
10:33 She was wearing even a nonâbranded coat, something she couldnât even recognize. It was like a street market purchase.
To Amelia, it seemed to lower the decorum of the entire room.
Normally, Olivia should have some money on hand. Apart from the research bonuses she gained, she also received dividends from Charm. Yet, she remained so frugal and unwilling to even buy a decent piece of clothing.
Her stinginess was extreme, and Amelia couldnât help but disdain Olivia for this.
She found her destitute, miserly, and timid.
âDo you want to go to the washroom?â Amelia asked. She leaned against the doorframe, anticipating to witness Oliviaâs pleading expression.
However, Olivia only raised her head slightly and showed no signs of the expected begging. Her expression remained icy cold.
âArenât you the one who forbade me from going?â Olivia countered.
âYouâre somewhat clever.â Amelia chuckled softly. âI wanted to humiliate you. This is what you deserve.
You should have anticipated this day when you harmed Emma. If you are willing to kneel down and apologize to her, Iâll consider letting you off.â
Olivia seemed unaffected by Ameliaâs words, keeping her head lowered and remaining silent.
Ameliaâs brows furrowed, and her patience waned. âDid you hear what I said? If you donât want to be humiliated, then kneel down and beg Emma for forgiveness! Youâ¦â
Before she could finish her sentence, she felt a sudden shadow before her. Before she could comprehend what was happening, her body was forcefully pinned against the wall, and a hand was gripping her throat tightly.
Amelia was startled, her pupils dilating as she stared fixedly at Olivia. right in front of her.
What was she trying to do?
Oliviaâs right hand was pressed against her neck. Her arms were so thin that it seemed they could snap with a gentle twist, yet at this moment, they felt like iron limbs, exerting a pressuring force with a howling intensity.
âYouâ¦â Amelia was shocked.
Olivia gazed at her calmly. âDid you think the Taylor family could really lock me up? Amelia, youâre underestimating me too much!
âAs long as I want to, the Taylor family canât stop me at all. As long as I want to, Emma wonât be able to see the sun tomorrow. The reason Iâm not resisting, surrendering willingly to your bullying, is because you bestowed the gift of life upon me. Because I still held illusions about you. I believed that maternal bond was inherent, that all mothers in the world love their children.â
