Ruby!

At 10:00 am

"Dia, in my office now!" Asher demanded.

"Okay sir!" she said immediately.

"rescheduled the meeting? " he asked. He was sure that she will forget giving him more reasons to be angry at her.

"I did sir, you'll have your meeting in the next two hours. And you have to call Mr. Gilbert too!" she said.

"o..okay, call Zed, I need a translator," Asher said.

"uh...you sent him out of the city yesterday " she answered.

"oh shit, he was my translator, where will I get someone who can translate German in the next two hours, we have to cancel it today too."

"Who did before him, I can call him if you want," she said.

"the lady who worked before you, never mind we have to cancel it, but he won't have any meeting now after I have declined him for past two months," he said.

"I can go if you want, I took German in my high school as my extra curriculum. " dia offered to help and he agreed.

The meeting was not smooth, Dia tried her 100 percent and it was a successful session. After meeting she smiled at him while Asher had his signature resting bitch face. Oh, why can't he be just nice to her for once? The meeting was over now.

"do you need anything else sir?" Dia voiced.

"no, have your lunch and good work today." he finally said. He looked at her for a second and noticed her brown-cognac eyes which reminded him of something or...someone.

"Can I ask you anything, sir?" she stuttered when he raised one of his eyebrows.

"Since I am going to die anyway, I think I should clear this out." she quaked.

"go on," he commanded.

"I know you have a company of your own, a very remarkable and known one but what happened the other day why did you do that? Why did you kill him? And then you were about to kill me then you didn't." she asked with confused eyes.

"sit down!

This company is not the only thing I own," he paused and realized he should not say anything further about it, she is not in the inner circle. She is just here to pay my money back and if she tries to be over-smart I'll kill her immediately.

"Mr. Changretta has thrown a party in the success of our meeting, so you are coming with me."

"like the mafia party?" she interrupted.

"no, it's not the mafia one,"

"so it does mean you are one of the Mafias," she said.

"you are fast, be ready at 8, Zed will pick you up from your hotel room" he appreciated.

"Can I ask you something, since you are making me go with you and I don't want to go, so" she immediately stopped when she saw his furious eyes?

"Okay, I should get going." she blurted.

"no, continue," Asher said.

"They didn't bring Ruby from my apartment, can she also come with me?" she said with puppy eyes which he even can't ignore.

"Ruby?" he questioned.

"my tortoise!" she shrieked. He threw the most confused look on his face ever. He was a mafia and did she even dare to ask such a stupid thing? He was not sure whether he should laugh or be angry at her.

"you know I could kill you, right?" Asher claimed.

"you could do a lot of things but I am alive," she responded.

"yet!" he said with blazing eyes.

"Okay, I should go." she immediately got in her cabin. Dia realized how stupid it was to go there and for such a thing but Ruby meant a lot to her and she missed her deeply.

"so you didn't kill the girl!" Asher's grandpa interrupted. "none of your business, grandpa!" he whispered. "I'm happy, for the first time you did something right. Is it anything particular about the girl?" he asked curiously. "what? No. She is just here to pay my debt. That's all. Now please go, I have some work," he said loudly. His grandpa left after two minutes.

"you called me, Asher?" said Zed.

"yes, I have a party at 8 I need you to pick up my assistant and drop her there," Asher explained.

"ah I see, new assistant!" he exclaimed. Zed was still wondering how Asher let her live after she saw everything, and now she was working in his very office. It's too much, there is something special about the girl that only after could see.

"what"

"Nothing, just curious about this new assistant of yours," uttered Zed.

Zed Black was able to talk to him like that because he was his brother, not by blood but by their bond.

"Asher, you know we don't bring any of those things into this business, right? We can't risk it. I'm happy you didn't kill her but she has seen you shooting James," he was cut off by Asher.

"what do you want to say?"

"I'm just saying it's okay if you saw something in her and didn't kill her but she can't be he..."

"why is everybody so obsessed with her, she is nothing to me, I don't see anything in her, she is just here to pay my debt, I can kill her now too if you want that," he said loudly.

"I'm just saying it's high time you should move on, think about Jaxon, she would have wanted you to.."

"Don't tell me what to do!" said Asher. He was so angry at this point that he might shoot Dia then and there.

"right, who am I? I'm just an employee who works for you. I'm the sorry boss!" he said almost having tears in his eyes.

"Dia! Dia!" he shouted. Dia came running, she was terrified of what did she do wrong, and she was almost shivering when heard her name. Asher was not in his sense but when he saw her so scared he simply said.

"Don't come at the party tonight!"

" did I do something wrong, sir?" she quaked. She had no idea why he was angry at her, she did everything he asked for and the meeting went well too.

"just get out of my office." He saw tears forming in her eyes and for the first time, he didn't feel right when he hurt somebody. It just didn't!

"What did he say?" Zed offered a handkerchief for her to wipe her tears. She looked at him and smiled warmly. "thank you,"

"of course,"

"did he yell at you too?" he asked. Zed was quite friendly the complete opposite of Asher. When she nodded he let out a small smile.

"Don't worry he is always like that," he said.

"yes, he treats me like a stupid and dumb person, he doesn't think of my feelings, I did whatever he asked for, I even did translating part too, but he, he can't even thank me, he is always so angry at me. He yells at me like an old man. I hate him so much," she went on.

"trust me, I know that feeling,"

"you know a lot about him how long have you been working here for him?" she asked.

"I don't work here, he is my brother."

Dia'a pov

What? brother? I said a lot of things, really mean things in front of his brother. Why does everybody have to be his family member what's next a grandfather? I'm so dead now, he will tell all about me to his brother and then I'll be dead without saying goodbye to Ruby. I'm sorry Ruby, I'll miss you forever.

"Okay, I should get to my work" she immediately turned on her heels and ran back to her cabin.

"Hey, it's alright, I won't tell anything to him. Truth be told you are right, he is always in a bad mood," he said.

"you promise?"

"I'll keep my mouth shut. But you have to cut him some slack he is going through a lot of things,"

"I understand"

"I should go pick up Jaxon. Bye. It was great talking to you." he said while leaving.,

"Yeah, you too." Dia smiled and wondered where Jaxon's mother was. Did she leave him as soon as she found out his husband is a don boss. To be honest I would have done the same.

Dia was exhausted, she returned to her room at 6 o'clock she found a box and she let out the happiest sound when she saw Ruby. Asher had a smirk too when he saw her from the camera that she smiling widely.
