Chapter 368
The Heiress Strikes Back
368 Hesitation
âDamn it!â Caleb cursed himself ruthlessly. He originally wanted to ignore that crazy woman, Sharon, but for some weird reason he didnât know, he actually ran back in.
He had searched almost every corner to confirm Sharonâs location. Unfortunately, even till the firefighters walked in, he couldnât find any traces of the latter. In order not to expose his whereabouts, he could only retreat at the same time Wallace carried Sharon out.
If that girl knew that Wallace had saved her, she would probably be so happy that she would be speechless! Thinking of this, Caleb suddenly revealed a lonely expression. However, this only lasted for an instant before he quickly regained his composure and drove away without saying anything else.
As for Sharon, she felt as if she was immersed in a dream and couldnât wake up no matter what.
The dream was filled with gray smoke. She walked in it and didnât know where her end was. She seemed to be looking for something, but she couldnât get any response.
In her daze, she seemed to have seen a figure that looked like Wallace rush over instantly, and she shouted, âWallace!â
Then, Sharon suddenly sat up from the bed and looked at the unfamiliar surroundings in shock.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âSharon! Youâre finally awake!â Yumi hugged Sharon in surprise, and there were still some tears in her eyes.
Whitney-who had been sleeping by the bed-also woke up slowly. When she saw Sharon, she was obviously stunned, and tears then flowed down her face.
âWhitney, Yumi!â Sharonâs body was very heavy. She could feel that she was very tired, but she still asked nervously, âWallace! Whereâs Wallace? Did you see him?â
Perhaps it was her bodyâs instinctive reaction, but the first thing Sharon could think of was Wallace.
âHeâs fine! I saw him with the woman from the ball.â Whitney comforted Sharon, touched the latterâs tightly furrowed forehead, and said in a comforting tone, âWhy are you so worried? Do you know that youâve inhaled a lot of carbon monoxide? If the firefighters hadnât saved you in time, you wouldâve become a fool or a vegetable.â
Sharon smiled apologetically and shook her head lightly. âIâm fine. Donât worry too much.â
Then, Sharon slowly lay down. Her heart was filled with Whitneyâs words: âThe fireman saved her.â
However, I clearly remembered hearing Wallaceâs voice in the fire. Why isnât he at the scene now? Was everything just my imagination? Thinking of this, Sharon slowly closed her eyes. She really was too tired.
âIâll go tell the doctor that youâre awake,â Whitney said as she dragged Yumi out the door.
The moment the two of them went out, they saw Wallace sitting on the chair with a dejected expression. He seemed to have fallen into guilt and didnât know how to face Sharon.
âDonât you want to visit her?â Whitneyâs voice turned cold.
Only then did Wallace slowly stand up. He couldnât bear to look into the ward, so he said with a helpless and bitter tone, âI donât know how to explain it to her, but I hope she believes me. Thereâs nothing between Crystal and me... Besides, I didnât expect her to be at the scene either. She even rushed back into the fire to save me...â
âWhatâs the point of telling us? You should explain to Sharon why youâre dancing so intimately with another woman.â Although Whitney didnât know much about the things this b*stard had done, she had frantically investigated him after she had met him.
Although this man had many scandals, none of them were true. Hence, Whitney didnât dare to make any judgment.
There was a hint of sadness in Wallaceâs eyes. I had clearly promised Sharon that I wouldnât make her sad again. I have a reason for accompanying Crystal, but I donât know if Sharon will listen to my explanation calmly or if she will treat my explanation as a lie.
âDonât worry. Sharon will definitely understand you. She just asked us about your situation, so instead of thinking so much, why donât you hurry up and see how she is? She has already woken up.â Yumi noticed the awkward atmosphere between the two of them and quickly spoke, wanting to ease the atmosphere.
Unexpectedly, Wallace was a little nervous. I havenât thought about how to tell Sharon at all, so I have to wait for this matter to be settled. After the companyâs listing is settled and after I find out more about how Xenia had harmed Sharonâs eyes, I will explain it to her properly.
