Chapter 3: Walking

Author: As I started school a 3 weeks ago, I will be taking longer to post and write so please bare with me ಥ_ಥ

Arius POV:

It's been a year and 5 months since I was reincarnated into this world. The horrible thing is, I still can't walk.I kept on wondering and thought, don't babies start walking at 12 months old?Well I didn't.

No one POV:

Currently, Arius is still trying to learn how to walk. Arius had to try first standing up with some support of the maids which he eventually did.

"Arius you did it! You stood up!"Lilith cheered Arius on as he finally stood up.

'I did it! But now's the hard part..'Arius thought worriedly. What if he could not walk? What if he failed?

"Young master lets take a few steps forward" Julia said with a encouraging tone.

THUD

Just when Arius took few steps forward, he had slipped on the carpet and fell.

"Arius...How about we stop here for today?" Lilith said in a worried manner.

'I can't give up here!'

Arius slowly stood up and tried to balance himself first. After he stood up, he took a few tiny steps forward to his mother. When he was confident, he took a bigger step and continued to walk forward without hesitating.

'I did it!"

"Arius you did it!"

Arius saw tears in Lilith eyes as she was hugging him. All the maids suddenly felt relieved as Arius could walk. They were ecstatic when they saw their young master finally walk.

A Few Days Later

"Mother! Look! Arius is walking confidently!" Lillian shouted gleefully.

Lilith giggled as she saw her two kids bonding together. She was relieved that Arius was finally able to walk. She was scared and worried thinking if Arius would ever walk.

"Arius! Can you say Lillian?"

However, here comes the next part. Would Arius be able to talk? That was the part that they were worried about as while. If he couldn't talk it would be a huge problem. How would his family be able to communicate with him? Before Arius reincarnated, Japan and the other countries of course had some mute people. Therefore, the world created sign language. But in this world they didn't have it as it was not common to have mute people. If Arius could not talk he would have to use parchment to communicate with others.

'Lillian... Will I be able to talk? I won't know until I try..'

"Li...Liwillian?.."

Upon hearing what Arius said, Lillian immediately hugged Arius and carried him. She smiled and kissed Arius on the forehead. Tears of joy dripped down Arius cheek. Had he talk? He knew he talked in his past life but this time he experienced it with a straight mind.

"Baby?..Why are you crying?"Lilith looked at Arius with a smile on her face.

"Mawma.."

"Yes baby? I'm here.."

"Dear! We're ba-..."

Damien had a shocked look on his face as he saw Arius standing. Damien and Sebastian had been away as the king of Strass had sent them away to deal with some issues. Issues meaning dealing with the other nobles from the other families. The reason why they had been sent out was because the Chester family was in charge of solving the bandit problem. For example, the Solvata family were mostly in charge of taking care of politics. Damien walked to Lillian and picked up Arius.

"Arius, make sure you grow up to be a strong man." Damien wiped away Arius tears.

4 Years Later:

"Young master! Where are you!" A servant yelled.

"Master please come out! It's time for you to change!"

The mansion was having a huge problem as Arius went missing. Arius usually sneaked out as he didn't want to change or be woken up from bed. He would usually hide and sleep in places such as the garden, the kitchen, the library and many more. As he was small he would also hide in cabinets that didn't have anything in them. Fortunately, whenever the servants couldn't find Arius, Marcus would step in and would always be able to find him within 3 minutes. People always thought that Marcus had some kind of ability that was able to sense people.

"I've found him. Resume your duties like usual."Marcus said in a serious tone.All of them felt shivers down their spines and nodded their head and went to their designated area.

While Marcus was carrying Arius to his room to get ready for the day, he finally woke up and realised that he had been found by Marcus again.

"Young Master, please refrain from sneaking out. It's you third time this week. Your parents have entrusted you with me and I could not bare seeing you get hurt."

"I'm sorry Marcus..."Arius apologised and looked at Marcus.

"There's no need for you to apologise, if you want to go anywhere please tell me. However you must change before going out."

Their conversation stopped as they finally reached Arius room. Marcus walked into the bathroom and got Arius into the tub. Marcus told Arius to close his eyes as he was going to pour water on him and wash his hair. As Arius hair was a bit longer it would probably take longer. When Marcus was done washing Arius hair, he started to wash his body.

When everything was done, Marcus immediately got Arius out of the tub and wrapped a towel around him. After cleaning him dry, Marcus got his clothes and helped him wear it.

(Arius is wearing this)

Once Marcus had got Arius changed, the door suddenly creaked opened. It was Damien. They were shocked to see Damien as he had blood on his face. Perhaps he tortured someone?..

"Sire.. You have blood on your face...." Marcus bowed down to show respect.

"Ah. I didn't notice that. Those disgus-"Damien had a disgusted look on his face as he remembered those rats that he had just dealt with.

"Sire, young master Arius is here." Marcus reminded Arius as Arius had a been a bit startled from seeing him.

"...Arius, I'm sorry did I scare you? Sometimes I forget to wipe the blood off."

Damien walked to Arius and carried him. Signalling Marcus to leave home and Arius alone. Once Marcus left the room, Damien fixed Arius outfit just a bit.

"Arius, tell me, did you perhaps notice anything strange or anyone trying to do something to you?"

Arius tilted his head and answered with a confused face he wondered why Damien asked him this. Had something happen?

Yesterday

Before Midnight

As it was almost midnight, the children were obviously asleep in bed. However, Damien and Lilith were still awake doing work.

.

"Sir, the cost is clear. Shall we proceed?"

"Yes. Be careful of guards. Remember, our main goal is Arius Edward Chester. He stays at the east-wing of the castle (mansion). Proceed with caution."

The assassins silently sneaked into the castle, not letting their guard down for even a moment. As they walked down the hallway, they saw the previous monarchs of the Chester family. There were also paintings of some of the old Chester family.

"Where do w-...agh!-"

"Everyone! Be on guard!"

"You really thought you could sneak into here without going undetected? How hilarious." It was Lillian! What could she be doing up at this hour?

"Lillian, don't injure them. Father would scold us if we did."

"Hmph! They tried to assassinate Arius! I could never forgive that!"

"Lilith, Sebastian. Go back to bed."

"Father you're here! However... what are you going to do with them?" Sebastian questioned.

"Torture them."

That being said, Lilith and Sebastian had shivers sent down their spines. They never had seen this side of their father before. Damien had always cared about them as he wanted to give them a good childhood to remember for their entire life. He always ensured that they were safe.

"Sire! Should we bring them to the dungeon?"

"Go ahead."A glint of red flickered in Damien's eyes.

In The Dungeon

Screams of pain could be heard down below the castle(mansion) of the Chester family. However they could not be heard from above.

"Who sent you here?" Damien asked, putting on his gloves.

"..."

Silence were all Damien could hear. Damien signaled the guards to torture them until they got an answer.

"Ngh!- F-ine! I'll ta-lk!-..." One of the assassins finally spoke up and gave in. The pain was so unbearable that he could not take it anymore.

"Tell me then."

Damien was shocked by the truth. He could not believe that somebody commissioned them to assassinate Arius. Who could've done such a thing? No one ever dared to hurt their family. Not even the imperial family. From that day onwards, Damien increased the number of guards on duty.

Present

"Dwid somethwing hapwen?"

"No, everything's alright. Just focus on growing up." Damien smiled and kissed Arius forehead.

'He's lying..' Arius was worried about what happened. How did it concern him.

Sorry for posting this so late it's been so busy with school coming up! I literally have a choir competition in two days! It's Saturday and my competition is on Tuesday! I'm so nervous.

(Edit: We won gold!)

Anyways! Once again, I'm sorry for posting so late 😭 I'll try my best to post new chapters once in awhile.

However, it may take awhile as sometimes I need to think of ideas for the chapters! I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter!
