Chapter 208
30 Days till I Divorce My Husband (Estrella and Jason)
Chapter 208 Their gazes locked, and as Kristin approached Estrella, she seemed oblivious to Isaacâs presence, her eyes filled with only her daughter-in-law.
With a radiant smile, Kristin reached Estrella and called out her name again. Estrella stood up from her chair and said, âHi Kristin.â
âYouâve been back for a while, havenât you? Iâve been meaning to invite you over for dinner but just couldnât find the right moment. When you were ill, I visited you twice at the hospital. You were sleeping both times. By the time I went again, you had already been. discharged.â
Kristin then asked, âBy the way, are you feeling better now? No more discomfort? Thereâs been a nasty flu going around lately.â
âThank you, Iâm all better. You and Landon should take care of yourselves,â Estrella advised, her concern genuine.
Kristinâs grip on Estrellaâs hand tightened with emotion. Kristin knew, deep down, that her son hadnât treated Estrella right over the years.
At this point, neither Kristin nor Landon knew about Estrellaâs pregnancy three years ago or that she had taken a fall at Sandalwood Oasis while waiting for Jason to return. If they had, Jason would have had some serious explaining to do.
Not even Autumn knew about it, or else she would have been devastated.
Holding onto Estrellaâs hand, Kristin studied her favorite daughter-in-law, and she remained blissfully unaware of Isaac standing quietly beside them.
Obligingly, Isaac stayed by Estrellaâs side, silently clutching her leg as she and Kristin chatted. His big eyes were fixed on the two of them, a picture of obdience.
Perhaps it was the absence of a father figure that made Isaac so well-behaved from a young age. Whenever Estrella took him out or engaged in conversation, heâd wait silently by her side.
If Estrella gave him something to eat, heâd eat quietly. If she didnât, heâd just watch her, never fussing or causing any disturbance.
âEstrella, Jason has actually been waiting for you all these years. Thatâs why heâs been reluctant to finalize any paperwork.
Maybe you could give him another chance? Iâm sure heâd cherish it.â
Before Estrella could respond, Kristin continued, âOh, and Jason mentioned that as long. as you donât divorce, heâs willing to give you all of the Nelson familyâs assets and shares. Estrella, I can tell that Jason still has feelings for you. I promise you, during the years you were away, Jason didnât have any relationship with either Holly or Serene. Canât you trust 1/3 Chapter 208 me on this, just once?â
Kristin had been fretting over Estrella and Jasonâs marriage since before their wedding day.
She couldnât understand it. Jason had grown up with several girls in their circle, and countless eligible young ladies longed to marry him. But it was Estrella who had caught Kristinâs eye since she was a child. Although Estrella seemed carefree, she was actually clear-headed and wise beyond her years.
Now, Estrella was a renowned international lawyer who had made her way without relying on her family. She had even become a pillar of support for Cole. Kristinâs affection for her only deepened. So when Kristin encountered Estrella, she didnât beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
As Kristin made her case, Estrella gently loosened her grip on Kristinâs hand, âJason and I... we canât go back.â
âNothing is irreversible in life, except death, Estrella. As long as weâre within the law and havenât committed any crimes, we can always start over. You must have had feelings for Jason once, and...â
Before Kristin could finish, Isaac, clinging to Estrellaâs leg, let out a tender âMommy.â
Hearing this, Kristin turned to look beside her, feeling that the voice didnât come from around them. Only then did she lower her gaze to the child at Estrellaâs feet.
Isaac looked up at Estrella and called out âMommyâ again.
In the next moment, Kristinâs mind went blank, her breath nearly caught in her throat.
A child calling Estrella âMommyâ? Could Isaac be Estrellaâs child? The thought nearly caused her to faint..
How could Estrella have a child? And one this big? Moreover, he bore a striking resemblance to Estrella as a child.
In just a few seconds, Kristinâs mind raced with melodramatic scenarios. Then swiftly. regaining her composure, she stared intently at Isaac, wondering if he could be Jasonâs child.
Estrella, hearing Isaacâs call, bent down and scooped him into her arms. Isaac.
c wrapped his little arms tightly around her neck and called out âMommyâ once more.
With each cry of âMommy, Kristin didnât know whether to be overjoyed or heartbroken.
Just as Estrella was about to speak, Kristin cut in, âEstrella, is this Jasonâs...â
Estrella interrupted her, âMom, Isaac has nothing to do with Jason. I left Ravenwood three years ago, and Isaac is only one year and ten months old.â
2/3 Chapter 208 Isaacâs delicate features and slightly smaller stature compared to other children his age made Estrellaâs claim plausible, and anyone could see he was barely two years old.
Estrellaâs words struck Kristin like a blade to the heart. She reached up to press a hand against her forehead and collapsed into a nearby chair.
Kristin had pieced it together now. The reason Estrella had said that they couldnât go back was that she already had a child of her own.
And looking at the little one, it was clear as day he was Estrellaâs flesh and blood â the spitting image of her at that age.
But if the child wasnât Jasonâs, what about all those fortune tellersâ predictions? Where on earth did Landon dig up that charlatan? Damn it, Kristin swore that she was going to get her money back from that so-called psychic.
Noticing Kristinâs distress as she sank into the chair, Estrella asked with concern, are you alright?â
Kristin frowned deeply, âDo I look alright to you? My lifeâs just been cut in half.â
âKristin, Estrella tried to reassure her, âDonât take it so hard. No matter how many grandkids you want, Jason can make it happen.â
Kristin lifted her head to gaze at Estrella. âThen I want you and Jason to have them. Would you?â
Estrella replied, resigned, âItâs just not in the cards for us.â Estrella had wanted children with all her heart back in the day, but Jason had been against it.
Kristinâs brow was furrowed as she gazed at Estrella and Isaac, her heart aching.
Estrella turned to Isaac and said, âIsaac, say âgrandmaâ.â
