Chapter 229
30 Days till I Divorce My Husband (Estrella and Jason)
Chapter 229 Estrella shot Jason a look of disdain as she noticed his influence over Isaac. It had only been a short while, and Jason had already won Isaac over. Isaac was now keeping secrets from her, avoiding telling the truth.
Skeptically, she sized Jason up from head to toe as he rose languidly from the couch. âI shouldâve known youâre not just good at charming women, but you can also sweet-talk kids,â she remarked.
Isaac was her flesh and blood; no one knew her son better than she did. Sweet as Isaac was, he was not one to easily let people into his heart. Yet, Jason had managed to sway him so effortlessly.
Jason bristled at Estrellaâs words, shooting her a frosty glance. âIf I were that persuasive, would you still be hell-bent on divorcing me?â
After a moment of silence, Estrella waved off the verbal sparring. âCut the chitchat, Jason. Donât you have to head to the office?
You go on.â
Jason, with his hands buried in his pockets, gazed casually at Estrella. Some things never changed.
He stared blankly at her for a while before his gaze shifted to Isaac. The more Jason watched Isaac, the more he saw Isaac as a two-year-old toddler, especially after their recent interaction. He found Isaac to be brighter than most kids his age, recognizing many words and reading simple messages on his own.
Estrella tensed up as Jason fixed his serious gaze on Isaac, a protective instinct kicking in. She crossed her arms and chuckled, âAre you doubting Isaacâs identity? Thinking that heâs your son?â
Before Jason could respond, Estrella plucked two strands of Isaacâs hair and handed them to him. âIf you donât believe me, go test these yourself.â
Isaac yelped in pain as his hair was plucked, covering his head with his hands.
Jason looked at Estrella as if she were a fool, making no move to take the strands of hair from her.
As Isaac continued to cry out, Estrellaâs attention was diverted, and the hairs were whisked away by a gust of wind. Seeing this, Estrella sighed. âHoney, the hair blew away. Let me pluck two more for uncle.â
Isaac, however, retreated several steps, hands still shielding his head, adamantly refusing to let Estrella pluck any more.
The commotion between mother and child prompted Jason to speak. âEstrella, cut it out. Besides, would a hospital test even matter?â He remembered taking her to the hospital 1/3 08:38 Chapter 229 years ago where they failed to detect her pregnancy. A DNA test now seemed just as pointless.
Jasonâs words left Estrella speechless. Looking down at Isaac, she saw her son shaking his head, signaling âNo more, mommy.â
Isaacâs fear of pain tugged at Estrellaâs heartstrings, and she gently pinched his cheek. âSweetie, mommy didnât mean to hurt you. I just wanted to see if this mister could be your daddy.â
Upon hearing Estrellaâs words, Isaac firmly stated, âHe is.â
Estrella glanced up at Jason with a look that blamed him for enchanting her son.
Jason felt his heart warm at Isaacâs affirmation. He reached into his pocket, ruffled Isaacâs hair affectionately, and then turned back to Estrella. âEstrella, I donât need any tests. And frankly, it doesnât matter anymore.â The child was already born and brought home. Even if Isaac wasnât his, Jason had accepted him.
Estrella didnât reply, simply urging, âItâs getting late. You should go to work.â
Glancing at his watch, Jason said goodbye to Isaac and left.
Once he was gone, Estrella, limping slightly, sat on the couch and asked Isaac, âWhat were you and that mister laughing about earlier?â
Isaac was always cheerful but he seldom laughed as freely as he had been. He gave a secretive smile. âMommy.â
Estrella understood he had been talking about her with Jason but didnât grasp that Jason had shown Isaac photos and videos of her own childhood, which had delighted the child so much.
No matter how good others were to him, Isaacâs favorite was always his mother, and he was happiest when he resembled her.
Estrella pinched his chin, a bit saddened. âDo you really want a daddy that badly?â
Isaac nodded earnestly, his eyes brimming with hope.
Estrellaâs brow furrowed in thought, then she murmured, âIâll figure something out.â For the first time in her tough life, Estrella felt at a loss without a solution.
Isaac looked at her seriously and said, âHe is daddy.â
Estrella shook her head in disapproval. âThat wonât do. Mommy doesnât like that man anymore.â
Isaac insisted, âLike him.â
Estrella ruffled Isaacâs hair. âWhat do you know, kiddo? Anyway, Iâll find you the best daddy in the whole world.â
2/3 08:38 Chapter 229 Chapter 22 Isaac persisted, âHe is good.â
Estrella grumbled under her breath, âWhat kind of spell have you cast on my son, you snake?â
Despite her words, Estrella knew deep down Isaac was yearning for a father figure.
In his Maybach, Jason sneezed out of the blue. Despite that, the memory of the pleasant chat with Isaac brought a smile to his face.
Back in the ward, after a heart-to-heart with Isaac, Estrella got down to business on her laptop. Isaac didnât disturb her but dutifully peeled an orange, tiptoeing to offer her a slice. When Estrella refused more oranges, Isaac cracked nuts to snack on instead.
Watching little Isaac pound on the walnuts with her tiny fists, Estrellaâs heart ached. She quickly set aside her work, grabbed his hand, and gently whispered, âHoney, Mommy is not hungry, okay? You go play or read your book.â
But Isaac, with a stern look in his eyes, demanded, âEat.â After a brief pause, he added, âGood, fast.â
Estrellaâs heart melted. Her son was truly a blessing. She promptly abandoned her tasks to peel the nuts for him.
In the midst of their tender care for each other, Jesse arrived, her arms laden with all sorts of treats.
Upon seeing him, Isaac blurted out, âJesse.â
Jesseâs handsome face darkened. âLittle brat, not calling me Daddy anymore?â
Isaac shook his head solemnly, refusing to call Jesse âDaddy.â Isaac had made a promise to Jason that no one else would hold that title but him.
Jesse stepped closer, set down the stuff, and said, âBy the way, Estrella, did you hear about what happened last night?â
