Chapter 141
The Remorseful Brothers
Chapter 141 Madelineâs face darkened when she heard Jennyâs insults. She looked at Jenny coldly. âYou think you are superior to others, donât you?â
Sering Madelineâs gare. Jenny subconsciously froze and did not refate.
âIt is not like Maddie has taken advantage of you. Why are you so harsh?â Harper trembled with anger and covered her aching cheek.
âBah! It serves you right that Jasmineâs missing. She must have behaved just like you, offended someone out there, and been retaliated against by them.â Harper rarely argued with others, but Sean and Jenny had gone too far.
âBitch! Youâve got the nerve to mention Jasmineâ Jenny raised her hand and was going to slap Harper again But this time, Madeline grabbed Jennyâs hand. âThatâs enoughâ Then, she threw Jenny to the ground.
âAh! Jenny fell on her buttocks onto the cold floor, and her tailbone hurt so badly that it felt like it was about to crack. She was about to get up and get even with Madeline. How dare this country bumpkin push me? she thought.
âWhat are you doing? Do you want to be detained for hitting someone without proof?â The guard inside came out and yelled at Jenny. Then, he glanced at Madeline with a complicated look and said, âMs. Larson, I am sorry to have wasted your time. You can go now.â
âYou can get away with it for now but not forever. Jenny was furious, her eyes vicious. âI will teach you a lesson once the matter is clear!â
Madeline took a deep breath and secretly remembered the Zook family.
After Sean and Jenny went in, Madeline quickly checked Harperâs face. On Harperâs tender face was a red palm print Madeline pursed her lips and said, âTheyâve gone too far. Does it hun?
âI am fine.â Harper sighed. âIt is all but you were also scolded.â
| my fault. I shouldnât have argued with Jasmine in the underground parking lot. Not only was I implicated now, Harper took Madelineâs arm and said, âMaddie, donât take it personally. Family background is just their excuse to belittle othersâ
âIt is okay. I donât care what they say Madeline raised her hand and stroked Harperâs check, frowning. âShall I buy some medicine for you!â
Harper shook her head. Tam tough. I can bear the pain.â She forced a smile, but her cheek hurt, and she grimaced in pain. That woman slapped me so hard. It really hurts she exclaimed inwardly Madeline was amused.
Harper said, âI will wait for my parents here. You can go home first. It is boring here, anyway. From what they said, it should have nothing to do with youâ She stuck her tongue out. âDonât worry about me. I am not capable of making someone go missing. I will be fine soon.â
Madeline said a few more words to Harper, then left the police station and walked to the side of the road.
When Madeline was about to call a taxi with her phone, a shadow suddenly cast over her head. A tall man blocked her way Madeline looked up up in confusion and met a pair of cold, worried eyes. She was slightly stunned. âNolan!â She smiled. âNolan, donât you dislike basking in the sun? Why are you out?â
She put down her phone and looked Nolan up and down in puzzlement. âYou did not bring any assistants today, nor did you hold an umbrella. How did you know Iâm here!â
Nolanâs expression was not as gentle as usual. He held Madelineâs head and stroked her hair as if he were petting a frightened kitten.
Madelineâs nose was filled with Nolanâs medicine scent. She patted his arm and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Nolan said, âMaddie, I am late. Sorry to make you suffer Madeline shook her head. âI did not suffer. I just came here to assist in in the investigation. It is not a big deal. Donât worry about it.â
Nolan breathed a sigh of relief. He had sold the police to let Madeline out. He took Madelineâs hand and stroked the back of her hand with his thumb. âI will be fine. The missing person will be sent back in a few daysâ
Hearing this, Madeline was shocked. âNolan, do you know the whereabouts of Jasmine?â
Nolan twitched the corners of his mouth. âI did not tell you for your own good. Donât get involved, or I will be angry.â
âOkayâ Madeline pursed her lips and followed Nolan into the car obediently.
Harper also ca came out of the police station. She saw from afar the tall, pale, and gloomy Nolan take Madeline into th the car. When she was about to Chapter 141 say hello, Nolan glanced back at her indifferently.
not In an instant. Harper swallowed her words. Nolan did not look like someone to be messed with, and his eyes were unfathomable.
Harper could help but fear him out of instinct. This guy is so intimate with Maddie. I seem to have seen him before. It seems that Gavin has a lot of love rivals.
Several days passed without any news of Jasmine as if she had disappeared from the world. All the evidence seemed to have been deliberately erased.
Jenny paced back and forth at home in anxiety. Their youngest son, Oliver Zook, was chattering nearby, unaware that Jasmine was in danger.
Jenny said, âHarper must have deliberately done this because sheâs jealous that Jasmine is better than her in every way. Is there nothing we can do about her without evidence! Canât we deal with the Xenos family and force them to surrender?â
Sean shook his head. âI have terminated all cooperation with the Xenos family and secretly asked someone to make trouble for them. Their business is in a in a mess now. If they were the culprit, they would have handed Jasmine over by now. I am afraid it was not them.â
Jenny sharply retorted, âThen it must be that country bumpkin! She must be jealous and resentful of Jasmine.â
The sky gradually darkened, and it was cloudy outside again. The air was hot and stuffy. The weather forecast had predicted rain at night. Jenny looked at the dark clouds outside the window worriedly. She was about to say something when the doorbell suddenly rang. Her heart skipped a beat, and she rushed to open the door.
Jasmine collapsed, lying limply on the floor in a mess. Her usually smooth and beautiful hair was dirty, and so were her clothes.
âJasmine! Itâs Jasmine! Where have you been! We are all worried about you. What happened to you?â Jenny hurriedly helped Jasmine up. When she lifted Jasmineâs head, she could not help but scream, There was an ugly scar on Jasmineâs pretty face, and the blood on it had not even dried yet. Her proud demeanor in the past had now been replaced. by timidity, confusion, and even a little neurosis.
Jasmine lowered her head and said, âMom... I donât want to gamble anymore. Please help me!â
