Chapter 276
The Remorseful Brothers
Chapter 207 âDonât get too cocky. I really misjudged you, thinking you were fragile. Who knew your scheming would be this deep, Helen chuckled at herself.
Yvette covered her mouth, markering as she slowly stood up. âHelen, Iâll be leaving now?
âYouâre not going anywhere!â Helen shouted desperately. But Yvette had already left.
As the seconds ticked by, three days after Yasmine woke up, she was discharged from the hospital. Back at the Sanchez residence, Geneva had prepared a sumptuous meal to help Yasmine regain her strength. During dinner, Morgan was glued to his tablet, his brow furrowed, as if something serious was on his mind.
Yaurine asked, âWhatâs wrong Trecently cumbled upon a piece of land, the Emerald Isle property. Itâs a goldmine if we can get it, but who knows if the owner will sell to us, Morgan said, sounding a bit worried.
Yasmine didnât really understand these things, so she just listened, finished her meal, and went back to sleep.
The next day, just after work. Yasmine bumped into Yonas as she was leaving the campus. Trying to avoid him, she was stopped by Yonas.
âYasmine âMr. Russell is there something you need? If not, Iâll get going.â Yasmine said, turning to leave.
âYasmine, can we talk? Yonas sked Yasmineâs tensed spine slowly eased. She studied him intently, her eyes clear with curiosity. âCan I ask you a few questions?â
she asked softly.
Yonas looked into her eyes and found himself unable to refuse, after a long pause, he nodded, âAlright.â
âNo lying, no deceit, you have to answer truthfully, Yasmine added.
Though Yonus could almost guess what she was about to ask, he still nodded, âGo ahead.â
Yasmine slowly started, âWhat exactly are you hiding from me! You must know about that photo of Yoselin and me, right?â
Vonas parted his lips slightly but couldnât utter a word. He swallowed a few times, âI canât tell you now.â
âThen when can you tell me?â she asked anxiously âYasmine.â He gently called her naine.
Yasmine chuckled selfâmockingly, âhâs not the right time yet, right?â
Sorry Yonas said.
Im sorry Yasmine was momentarily distracted; she wanted to hear more, but his answer silenced her. She tried to speak several times but ended up saying nothing. Avoiding his gaze, Yasmine said. âForget it. If you donât want to answer, you donât have to. If you want to keep secrets from me, wonât askâ
After a long silence, she suddenly seemed to remember something and said, âDid you plan this all along?â
âNo,â Yonas replied.
Yasmine didnât even know what to feel. She had just wanted to get closer, but now it was like someone had thrown cold water over her. âGot it, Iâm going out then.â
As she turned to leave, just stepping out, Yorias caught her wrist, but as swiftly as heâd grabbed it, he let go like heâd been burned. âIm sorry.â Yonas said This left Yasmine a bit puzzled, âWhatâs going on!â
âI want to take you somewhere, You said, averting his eyes and no longer looking at her.
âWhere Yasmine asked curiously Yonas led her to the car, opening the passenger door for her. âGet in Even though Yasmine had no idea what Yonas was planning, she still got into the car West Street in Sourity is the busiest street, yet itâs also very in traditional. The items sold here have a classic charms, and the shop names are quite VAJAM Chapter 207 elegant too. The best tailor is Tailorâs Timeless Threads, the most renowned jewelry store is Heritage Jewels, and the most exquisite bakery is Grandmaâs Secret Recipe Bakery-
Yonas led Yasmine into a narrow alley with high walls and decorative caves. The cobblestones were cool underfoot, and a few wild red flowers bloomed at the corner. At the end of the path, Yonas opened a small door and ushered Yasmine inside.
The winding grassy path was all too familiar to Yasmine. This backyard was wellâtended, with a sycamore tree on the far west end. As they entered a tall building from the backyard, she instantly recognized where they were.
Anteque Curios & Relics? This place is a famous antique shop, housing items from a thousand years ago up to the Republic era.
However, due to the unique nature of antiques, the items here are replicasâtreasures of major collectors put on display. Should anyone wish to purchase, the collectors would be contacted. But she was quite curiousâwhy had Yonas brought her here?
âWhy are we here?â she asked softly.
Yonas replied in a low voice. The White family has recently set their sights on Mr. Hunter Ellisâs property.â
âYou mean En Emerald Isle?â A glint of interest sparkled in Yasmineâs eyes.
âYes.â Yonas confirmed.
Emerald Isle is a picturesque island adjacent to Soucrity, surrounded by the sea on all sides, but it has always been held firmly by Hunter Ellis, the chairman of the Constant Sunrise Group. Originally, no one cared much for this piece of land, but recently the national shipping routes were planned, conveniently passing by Emerald Isle. To support the tourism industry in Soucrity, the local tourism bureau has just announced a new subsidy policy. If Emerald Isle were turned into a resort island now, it would certainly bring in a fortune. Everyone in Soucrity had their eyes on this piece of land, and Irene was no exception.
Yasmine looked at Yonas cautiously and asked, âWhat does Anteque Curios & Relics have to do with Emerald Isle!â
âCountless people have contacted Mr. Ellis these past days, but few have been able to meet him. His birthday is coming up soon, which is a perfect opportunity Mr. Ellis loves collecting antiques, and Irene has been looking for antiques lately.â Yonas said with a slight smile.
Yasmineâs expression relaxed. âAre you trying to make the Sanchez family compete with the White family?â
âYour cousin has been researching g this piece of land for quite e some time, Yonas added.
âSo you want me to buy antiques here to give to Mr. Ellis?â Yasmine asked.
Yonas continued, âMr. Ellis is a Christian and loves all sorts of rosary beadsâ
Yasmine glanced at the various antiques in Anteque Curios & Relics, trying to find the rosary beads among them.
The atmosphere grew heavy as a dark cloud drifted across the eastern sky, blocking the sunlight. Inside Anteque Curios &
Relics, there were over twenty elaborately carved rosewood treasure racks, each compartment filled with a precious item.
Yonas was warmly w welcomed by the shop owner himself, âMr. Russell, we have a new collection of antiques that just arrived. Please take a lookâ
Yasmine followed them to another treasure room, equally packed with numerous treasure racks.
Yonas asked, âDo you have anything related to God?â
The owner laughed and said, âItâs quite strange lately; people have been asking about antiques related to God for several days now. Just a few days ago, we sold a painting of God: He whispered, âBut honestly, many things have been sold, yet not much of the really good stuff. You know, these antiques donât come with a price tag, and the best items are displayed on the top floor. We donât usually bring them out, but since youâre here and have the means, we can make an exception.â
Yasmine understood that he was right. Not many people could afford truly priceless items, so they didnât even bother showcasing them Bot Yomas was different; he had wealth and power.
âLetâs go take a look, Yonas said
