Chapter 39
The Remorseful Brothers
Chapter 39 Madeline waited in the room.
The only thing left in the room about her was an hourglass.
She turned the hourglass and lay on the table, looking at the sand flowing down bit by bit.
âMadeline.â Thomas came in from outside.
Madelineâs heart skipped a beat, and she turned around.
âDid they finally agree?â she thought to herself.
She knew that there would always be a way to convince them with Winslet around.

Just sign it now.â Thomas told her. âYou can disown the Larson family. And weâll go to a lawyer to change our will tomorrow He continued to say, âIf you have any other ideas, feel free to bring them up. After all, I still see you as my daughter.â
Madeline looked at her fatherâs face with a hint of selfâmockery in her eyes. âI have nothing to ask for anymore,â âThis feels good.â
she said.
Madeline lay on the table, her inkâblack long hair cascading over her shoulders. She slightly turned her face, appearing to have a fair and lovely complexioni.
There was no hint of light in her eyes.
Behind her was the pitchâblack night, and she was wearing cheap clothes.
Thomas suddenly felt guilty. âMaddie, after following your wishes tomorrow, weâll take you to buy some clothes,â he said. âDuring the year you are going to the countryside, you will be given enough living expenses. As for the 20,000 dollars, I will still give it to you.â
He added, âAfter all, you still need money to live with your grandparents.â
Madeline answered faintly and closed her eyes, feeling a little tired.
âIâll sign the contract when you change your will. Take the contract with you tomorrow, Thomas offered.
Upon seeing that there would be no change anymore, Thomas didnât hurry to force her to sign.
The door was closed.
Layla also told the family that Madeline was going to leave them The family was sitting in the living room downstairs.
Winslet was in a good mood as Madeline, who she found annoying, was finally leaving. The former was so happy.
Every time she saw Madeline, it made her feel uneasy.
She wished Madeline could be driven away immediately.
As long as Madeline left, she would be the only little princess in her family. She didnât need to be afraid that someone would take away her love anymore.

He was completely disappointed with Madeline.

Î âItâs good for her to disown us. I can even provide her with monthly living expenses in the future. She shouldnât come back anymore,â he said. âHer existence is not good for anyone.â
Harley looked gentle and elegant, and it was the first time he had said such heavy words.
Henry was a little surprised even though he was on Winsletâs side But, at least, he still remembered the time when Madeline had brought him back.
Moreover, as a young girl, she had gone to appointments late at night and faced so many rich and spoiled brats alone.
Henry couldnât be merciless.
âI think this matter needs to be considered carefully. After all, Madeline is one of the Larson family. Are we just going to abandon her?â he suggested. Disagreement was evident in the depth of Henryâs eyes. âDad, think about it carefully.â
âItâs not that your father wants to drive her away; itâs that she wants to disown us herself,â Layla frowned. âYou donât even knowâ
right after she was denied for the movingâout plan, she even bullied Winnie. She added, âShe said that if she couldnât move out, she would drag Winnie to hell!â
She continued by saying, âItâs so scary!â
Winslet also nodded. Who knew what Madeline would do if she was cornered?
Now that Madeline was obviously at rock bottom, Winslet didnât dare to confront her directly. âWhat if she actually went crazy?â
Winslet thought to herself.
Henry wanted to say something but stopped. Then, he lowered his eyes, annoyed.
Jacob gave a faint smile, his clear and elegant face showing indifference. âIf she wants to move out, then letâs respect her decision,â he said. âSheâs already 18, and we no longer have an obligation toward her. Sheâs an adult, and whatever actions she takes, she needs to take responsibility for them.â
Henry said, âBut, Jacob, in your eyes, Winnie will always be a young girl who needs to be taken care ofâ
âHenry, how can you compare Maddie with Winnie? Youâre confused.â Joel frowned and sneered. âIn addition to Jacob, I also feel the same way.â He continued to say, âMadeline is already 18 years old. Who did she expect to keep protecting her?â
Lucas sighed. âItâs better that sheâs leaving. I hope she can turn over a new leaf in the future,â he voiced out. âSheâs a girl from the countryside; coming here probably clouded her judgment with jealousy. Once she goes back, sheâll find her rightful place.â
âWho knows, maybe sheâll rediscover kindness,â he mused.
Joel suddenly tutted. âLucas, youâre not usually this polite, are you? Honestly, you used to scold Madeline the most fiercely.â he remarked.
Lucas waved his hand and didnât want to say anything more.
He just found that Madelineâs voice was so similar to Lynnâs.
was a girl who had taken him out of underestimation He didnât want to say anything too harsh to someone similar.
Mainly because, in the end, she was leaving anyway.

Chapter 39 There was no need to say anything more.
As a a family, no one tried to persuade Madeline to stay-
It was as if she had been a redundant person.
Henry went upstairs and wandered around the staircase.
He was not an easygoing person. He was also quite stubborn and spoiled.
× × Feeling annoyed, he took out a cigarese from his pocket and lit it. Leaning against the stair railing, he rested his hands there, lost in thought.
The lights were off.
Madeline went out and saw a little light in the stairwell The air was filled with the smell of smoke.
She looked faint.
âMadeline. Henry pinched off the cigarette in his hand and fanned it. âHave you thought about it clearly?
âYesâ Madeline nodded. âIâm superfluous here.â
Henryâs heart skipped a beat.
His throat rolled as he spoke. âActually, we donât dislike you that much. We were also looking forward to your return before, He added, âIt was just that your attitude toward Winnie was just too bad.â
Henry tried to say something more. âYou know, weâve had 18 years âI know,â Madeline interrupted him. âEighteen years. Youâve been together all day long and watched her grow up and loved her so much. If it were me, I might not be able to achieve complete justice.â
She finally spoke what was on her mind. âBut... You all are so unfair to me.â
Madeline mocked herself in a low voice, and in the dark, no one could see the That was her last moment of weakness.
She knew.
Starting tomorrow, the Larson family would no longer have her as a daughter.
e tears in her eyes.
âAfter tomorrow, I will be as if I never existed,â she said. âYou think I was raised by my grandparents, but thatâs not true. I grew up in an orphanage.
Lo Arep adness in 1 Madeline sighed, a smile on her lips, but there was eyes.
She continued to say, âThe only thing the Larson familly have done wrong to me is...â
Henry fixed his eyes on her.
The little girl was too petite and slender.
Henry suddenly remembered that she was only 18.
She had been away from her parents since she was a child.

Chapter 39 He waited for her next sentence.
At that moment, the soundâcontrolled light was turned on.
Madelineâs eyes turned red as she said with a fragile smile, âYou shouldnât have given me hope.â
After saying that, Madeline turned around and entered her room.
Henry felt a little depressed.
Suddenly, there was a feeling that maybe Madeline moving our was just an omen.
She might never go back to the Larson family again.
He didnât think he would have thought about losing his sister at all.
But... He was a little confused, and he couldnât figure out why.â
She was not a little flower or grass that could be trampled on by people.
She was his sister, made of flesh and blood, who expected their love and care.
Henry couldnât sleep all night.
He found that he had never known Madeline before. Before leaving, he wanted to give her something but didnât know what she liked.
After thinking about it, he realized her clothes never exceeded 20 dollars.
Her shoes had been washed to a pale color, yet they were still the same pair of cheap white shoes bought for a little over 4 dollars on the roadside.
Henry suddenly got up and threw the pillow to the ground. âShe. She is also my sister!â
