Chapter 159 - The Magical Effect of Spirit Rice
Rebirth: Ghost Exorciser
Mother Zhu wanted more. She couldnât wait to go broke and spend all her money on this rice. It was simply a tremendous miracle that her mother, who had terminal stomach cancer, could recover after eating this rice and without taking any medication.
One could imagine how precious the rice was. Where did her precious son get this treasure from?
The more Mother Zhu thought about it, the more convinced she was. She was just about to continue talking to her son, when Father Zhou called again. Mother Zhu hurriedly picked up the call and told Zhu Bocheng to stay put and not move. âChengcheng, your grandpa is calling. Mom will answer the call first!â
Only then did she get up to answer the phone. âDad!â
Father Zhou was no less excited than Mother Zhu at that moment, and maybe even more so. Father Zhou now confirmed that it was the rice sent by his daughter. Ever since his daughter sent him the rice, Mother Zhouâs appetite improved.
Thanks to their daughter, Mother Zhou loved to eat this porridge. Every time it was cooked, Father Zhou would eat it with her. So these days, not only did Mother Zhouâs health improve noticeably, even Father Zhouâs physique improved. He was old and somewhat lacking in energy in the past, but these days, Father Zhou clearly felt his energy improving. His body was also getting better and better, even better than when he was younger.
Father Zhou had a deep understanding of the benefits of this bag of rice, so when he heard Mother Zhuâs words, he stuttered excitedly, âMy⦠my daughter, where did you get that rice? Do you have more? I accompanied your mother to the hospital today specially for a doctor to examine her. He said that her body is completely fine and sheâll continue to do well. Itâs all thanks to your bag of rice!â
Although Mother Zhu had heard that her mother had recovered from her illness, she was still in a daze when she heard from Father Zhou that her motherâs late-stage stomach cancer really had disappeared, just like that, and she couldnât react for a while.
After some time, Mother Zhu replied, âDad, it was Chengcheng who bought that bag of rice. I⦠Iâll go ask that kid where he bought that treasure from right now!â
Father Zhou replied, âOkay, bring Chengcheng over to see his grandma the day after tomorrow.â He paused, then suddenly said, âThis child has always been obedient. Talk nicely to Chengcheng and donât scold him anymore!â
Mother Zhu thought in her heart that her son wasnât worthy of the word âobedient.â Although she thought so, she quickly agreed. âI understand, Dad!â
After hanging up, Mother Zhu went over anxiously to her son and hurriedly asked, âChengcheng, where did you buy that bag of rice from before? Hurry and tell me! Thatâs right, can you still buy it? Am I delaying you from getting more by talking to you now?â
Zhu Bocheng stared blankly at his mother who was itching for him to immediately buy more rice. His mind was still blank and he had yet to snap back to reality. Mother Zhu was afraid that her son didnât know what a good thing he had gotten, and she quickly recounted her motherâs recovery from eating the porridge.
Zhu Bocheng was in fact still very close to his grandma. He also knew that his grandma had terminal stomach cancer. If it wasnât for the mishap with Qi Hao and the other rascals, he would have been spending time with his grandma now.
So, when he heard that both his motherâs hand and his grandmaâs illness had been cured because of the bag of rice that he had bought, Zhu Bocheng was stupefied. He even thought that his mother was joking with him.
His grandma had a terminal illness; it wasnât a minor cold.
Could a bowl of porridge make her better?
Zhu Bocheng didnât believe it at all, but his mother didnât look like she was joking at all. Besides, his mother wouldnât joke about his grandmaâs illness.
After listening to his motherâs explanation, he was taken to see his grandma a couple of days later. He heard that the hospital had confirmed that his grandma hadnât been misdiagnosed, and the entire hospital was in an uproar because of his grandmaâs recovery. If the hospital hadnât kept a lid on the news, his grandmaâs recovery would probably have made the headlines by now.
Zhu Bochengâs lips trembled. He had to believe his motherâs words now.
Spacing out, he suddenly remembered the bag of rice which he had asked Sister Shuyan to send to him some time ago. Back then, he had just been a glutton and hadnât thought much of it. After waiting for a few days and seeing that Sister Shuyan hadnât sent it, he thought she had forgotten.
Who would have thought that his mother had sent the rice from Sister Shuyan to his grandma?
