“I'm glad that you like it.” He narrowed his eyes dangerously.

Her phone rang and she instinctively wanted to hide her phone when she saw Beth's name on the

display.

"Answer it,” Corentin commanded.

Ashlynn wanted to say that she was not that close to Beth, but could not excuse herself when she

had already saved Beth's number. She was confused as to why Beth would call her two days in a row

and answered, "Hello..."

“Ashlynn, what are you doing now? Are you busy? Let's have a meal together,” Beth asked.

“I... am outside,” Ashlynn shuttered.

“With Corentin?”

"Yeah."

“Hand your phone over to him.”

Ashlynn glanced at Corentin and passed the phone to him.

He accepted the phone with a dark look in his eyes. “What?”

"Ashlynn said that she’s with you. I assume that you haven't eaten, so why don't you

two join us for a meal? Marshall is here, too. I will reserve the table.”

“No.” Corentin hung up, before tossing the phone back to Ashlynn’s lap.

She put her phone away without another word.

“Do not go anywhere near Beth ever again,” he ordered furiously.

“She means well.”

"Do you really not understand what I'm telling you?”

Ashlynn remained quiet. She knew that Corentin would have Beth killed for their lost child if he had

the chance, but she did not want that to happen.

“It's in the past. No matter what you do, your child won't come back to life,” she said.

“He was your child as well. You sure are forgiving,” he said darkly.

Ashlynn was sent back to the mansion and Corentin headed back to Lloyd Group to

work.

She snuck into the study room when she was alone and found a laptop locked with a password.

She tried the same password on Corentin’s phone and it was wrong; the laptop displayed that she

had made two attempts and the laptop would be locked if she made one more failed attempt, so

she could only give up.

For as long as Corentin held those photos and videos, she would remain under his control with no

hope of escaping and she would have to obey his every command.

At night, Corentin came back for dinner and the two ate without a word. Ashlynn kept her eyes on

Corentin, searching for signs to see if he knew about her visit to the study room.

Just then, they heard the engine noises of a car outside the door.

Ashlynn had thought that it was Meredith, and was surprised when she saw Cory storming into the

dining room. “What have you done?”

“I've done plenty. Which one are you talking about?” Corentin asked expressionlessly.

“I'm talking about Alexis! Did you go to visit her in the asylum?” Cory questioned angrily.

Ashlynn immediately realized who they were talking about at the mention of the asylum.

'So her name is Alexis. It's a shame that someone with such beauty was driven mad,’ Ashlynn

thought to herself. “l supposed Cory got what's coming for him after what he did to Alexis since his

sons died in the end.’
