Chapter 790
Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies
Chapter 790
Anne noticed his teasing tone and retorted, âYeah. I spoke from my experience. Who do I have to
thank for such experiences but the almighty Mr. Marwood?â
Anthony signaled for her to come closer.
Anne did not want to move, but weighed her choices as she met his eyes, before walking over.
He dragged her down to sit on his lap and she gasped. âWe are still in the office. Control yourself.â
"What exactly do you think I'm about to do?â He stared at her pointedly.
She pursed her lips in silence.
"Whatever you want, I will satisfy you.â
Feeling chills down her spine, she said, âI don't want to do anything! Just say what you need to say
already!â She could not understand why they had to be so close for him to speak.
"What are you going to do?â Anthony asked.
Anne thought about it and said, âI will have to perform another paternity test on Corentin and if
there's an issue, we can only be careful since there's a penalty for breaking the contract. If his target
is Ashlynn, this won't affect the company. If everything checks out, however..."
âThen you will stay out of it.â
Anne gaped at him. âStay out of it? And just leave Ashlynn to handle this on her own?â
âThat's between the two of them.â
âNo way!â She struggled to get up and insisted, âShe's my employee and this happened under my
watch. I'm not going to stand idly by.â
She went to sit down on her chair with a dark, but determined look on her face.
Apart from the responsibility on her as Ashlynnâs employer, she reminded Anne of what had
happened to herself and Anne could not say that Ashlynn had it any easier.
Anne still had people around to help her and even if it was all in vain in the end, she still had
someone to talk to, whereas for Ashlynn, she stayed in Luton alone with no friends or family to
support her. Without any help, she would be rendered helpless.
Anne could not imagine that Ashlynn would have a husband like that...
âGo back. I need to get back to work,â she said.
Anthony's expression darkened as he glared at her. âWhy are you upset?â
âI'm not. I just wasted an hour. You must be busy as well, so don't just stay here...â
He grabbed her by the jaw and forced her to look up to face his sharp, dark eyes. âYou think she's
going through the same thing as you?â
"So what if I do? Do you want to deny it?â Anne looked into his eyes fearlessly.
She was merely stating the facts, but she could sense Anthony's hand on her jaw shaking and she
realized it was the result of him suppressing the urge to crush her jaw.
"What? You can't stand me mentioning something that you did? Or do you want to erase the past?
Unless I lose all my memories, or that's never going to happen. Are you capable of that?â
Anthony's expression darkened further as he narrowed his eyes dangerously. âYou are dredging
stuff up from the past.â
âAnthony Marwood, if it wasn't for the kids, I would have never allowed you to trap me in this city,
even if it means death.â Anne shoved his hand away and lowered her head to stare at the
documents on the desk.
Anthony tensed and withdrew his hand, before uttering coldly, âWhat a shame that there's no âif'"
He turned to leave, slamming the door behind him.
Anne fell backward and thought to herself, âYeah. There's no âif, so what's the point in talking about
this? Just to fight him? How pointless!"
After Ashlynn returned home, she remembered that her dog was still at the pet store. She had left it
there before her business trip and paid them to look after it for a week.
