Chapter 42

Epilogue II

I Don't Need Love

He watched her like a hawk as she got ready.

It was Shubham's wedding, and today Meera was adorned like in the early days of their marriage. A sea-green embroidered saree complemented by beautiful tingling jewelry. His favorite waistband adorned her waist, and it made him groan.

Every time she was dressed like this, he couldn't keep his hands to himself. He didn't want to step out of their room, let alone go to the wedding. He just wanted to squeeze her in his arms and absorb all the sweetness of her body.

As usual, she picked up her perfume to sprinkle it around her. She matched her gaze with his. She was already aware of the looks he was giving her, but she deliberately ignored him. By any chance, if she gave him a green signal, he wouldn't wait even a second before pouncing on her, and then they would only reach Shubham's wedding tomorrow.

Satisfied with her look, she glided to the side. She walked to the bed, picked up her clutch, and tried to move away when he caught her waist chain.

Wrapping his finger around her waist chain, he pulled her to make her sit on his lap. "Where is my pretty Lilliput running?"

"Shubham's wedding," she said, trying to control her uneven breathing as he slowly traced her waist.

"You are just tempting me," he bit her cheek and pulled her even closer to himself.

"Rayaan," she groaned, trying to push him away, but he only tightened his hold on her. "You are so cute sometimes; I just want to eat you." He pecked where he bit her, found her blushing, and he knew what she was thinking. "My dirty Lilliput, not that kind of eat you, I mean that also, but right now, eat you like eat you, do you get it?" He pecked her cheek again, chuckling at her cute reaction.

Meera hid her face in his vibrating chest. "Let's go, my control is taking its last breath." He whispered, still holding her close to his chest. Meera quickly stood up, putting his heavy arms away and running down like a rabbit.

"Meera, slow down. You might hurt yourself, baby." He ran behind her, trying to keep her clumsy self safe.

They enjoyed the wedding to the fullest, and Aryan made sure of it. He specially planned some stupid but funny games for the couples. And then who could ignore his crazy dance?

All of it was too much fun for them. They enjoyed it until they were exhausted.

And when it was time to return home, Aryan made sure to tag along with Rayaan and Meera.

"So Bhabhi, how is everything going? Is my brother being a trouble to you?" Aryan asked casually, throwing his legs on the car seat.

Meera shook her head, giggling at his style and question while Rayaan only glared at him. "Put your dirty legs down if you don't want me to be a trouble for you," he sneered at Aryan, who just raised his legs up in the air away from the car seat but didn't put them down. "Chill bhai, I thought you would have changed into a sweet man in the company of my sweet bhabhi, but you're still the same." He sighed dejectedly.

Rayaan chose to ignore his words, only focusing on driving.

"By the way, when is junior Rayaan or Meera coming?" He asked excitedly, jumping and leaning on Meera's seat.

She choked on the air listening to his sudden question.

Rayaan also stopped the car immediately. "What nonsense are you talking, Aryan?" He rubbed her back, passing a water bottle to her.

"Sorry, sorry, I just got excited. I heard Mom saying that since it is going to be 3 years of your marriage, Bhabhi might be pregnant."

Meera, breathing fine, looked at Rayaan. They had talked about it, and both of them wanted to adopt a child. But they haven't talked about this with the family. Though they have always been supportive, it was a sensitive topic, and they didn't know how to talk about it with their parents.

Nobody explicitly ever asked them about having a child, but they knew there were speculations and anticipation of a child.

"No, Aryan, it's not your fault. We are just still thinking about it," Meera smiled at Aryan, who looked guilty about asking the question. He thought it was funny, he was just trying to tease them but didn't know it was this serious.

Rayaan looked at his face, and he knew what Aryan was thinking, "Aryan, it's a personal question. We shouldn't ask a couple when they are planning to have a kid. It's their choice, okay?" He explained in a gentle voice, and Aryan nodded at the gravity of the question.

"Okay, fine. How about a movie night?" Meera tried to distract the gloomy environment, and it worked perfectly. Soon they got busy selecting movies for their movie night.

As they reached home Aryan began preparing snacks and making all the arrangements, And the three of them again had a blasting fun. They slept early in the morning.

More days passed, and each day Meera and Rayaan found themselves getting closer. They couldn't be happier. There were more conversations, more understanding, and growing fondness. Now Meera used to share everything with him. He thought she was reserved, but once she opened up, her day wouldn't end without telling him about her whole day and asking about his. She was a cheerful and talkative person, not someone she portrayed in their early days of marriage. Rayaan loved every bit of her. She was an amazing partner, understanding, supportive, and caring just like how he wanted.

And Meera, she always described Rayaan as a prince charming who was actually her knight in shining armor. She got more than she wanted. She felt blessed to have met a person like Rayaan. And all she wanted now was to return his love with greater intensity.

As their marriage grew older, they put forward their wish of adopting a child in front of their parents, and needless to mention, they were supportive of it. They never asked a question and let the couple decide for themselves.

But they had to hold that decision because almost after 4 years of their marriage, Meera walked out of the washroom smiling, "Rayaan." She called him

He put all the work aside, looking at his gorgeous wife, "Yes?"

"What is 1+1?" She asked, and he looked at her confused.

"Meera, what is that?" He shook his head at her question.

"No, tell me." She demanded, and he rolled his eyes, "Of course, 2, Meera." He pulled his laptop back again, all ready to dive into it, but she held his hand.

"You are wrong, it's 3." She said, and his hand stopped working.

"Are you serious?" He chuckled at her answer, but then when he looked at her face, she just nodded happily, "Yes." She said, showing him a white strip.

He looked at her then at the thing in her hand. He kept gazing at her, completely silent. He was trying to settle with the fact that his wife was pregnant. She held his face between her palms, he looked at her like a lost child and then immediately pulled her into a hug, "Oh Meera." He whispered, caressing her belly.

"Thank you, Meera." He pecked her forehead, too overwhelmed to say anything else.

Now this silence was something of comfort. Both of them understood this silence.

Rayaan picked her up and twirled around, "My lilliput is going to have another lilliput." Both of them giggled. They felt their family was complete. It was a special news that made their day special. Very Special.

Soon everyone was informed, and the most excited one, Aryan, didn't waste a second ordering all the children's toys, clothes, and games.

If he could change anything, he would have demanded the kid to be born just in 9 days instead of 9 months.

More than Meera, it was a painful wait for him. First his studies in another continent and then his exams. Only he knows how he dealt with those stupid things to reach here to meet his niece, "Aadya."

Who looked just like Meera, her delicate hands pulled the strings of Rayaan's heart again.

"I love you, Meera." He repeated it again just like every time.

And did not wait for her to say anything. He already knew she loved him, she admired him. She didn't have to say this.

But today she did, "Your love has made me capable. Your love has made me win this quest for independence, Rayaan. I need your love. I need you, Rayaan. Throughout my whole life and every other life to come. I love you too, Rayaan." Tears glistened down her cheeks as she spoke every word from her heart.

Rayaan gathered both, Meera and Aadya, in his arms. He was happy with his life. He was too grateful to have them in their life. He couldn't demand anything more.

Everything was just perfect.

Complete and content.
