Elder Mei didn’t believe it at first, but what the paper crane did was beyond his expectations.

He studied the paper crane and calmly said, “Let’s follow it first.”

Mr. Xu found the whole thing ridiculous.

Sun Yu looked from Elder Mei to Mr. Xu and suggested, “It’s not like we have any other options. Let’s just follow the bird. What if it works?”

They followed the bird after that.

Before long, they saw a spot of light up ahead.

Mr. Xu shouted excitedly, “Look! There’s light!”

The underground tunnels were pitch-black, and they had been using torches to move around.

The light meant one thing.

“Is the exit up ahead?” Sun Yu was equally excited.

Elder Mei was astonished, but deep down, he knew this was going to happen.

He looked at the paper crane.

Just then, the bird seemed to have used up its energy. It swayed and turned into a little ball of flame.

Before they could do anything, the bird turned into a wisp of smoke and disappeared.

Elder Mei rushed forward, trying to grab it, but the smoke vanished into thin air.

“Elder Mei, Elder Mei! We found our way out! We’re going to live!” Mr. Xu said excitedly.

Seeing that Elder Mei was still standing there, he grabbed the old man’s arm and dragged him out of the tunnel.

The people outside jumped when they charged out of the door.

Zuo Qingluan was the most astonished of them all.

Her face went livid when she saw Elder Mei and the others.

Gongsun Mu and the tutors were thrilled to see Elder Mei. They immediately gathered around him.

“Elder Mei!”

He looked pale and weak.

“We still have three people inside!” Gongsun Mu had been looking for Feng Wu.

Sun Yu and the others were shocked. They stared at Zuo Qingluan and asked, “Did you see it?”

Zuo Qingluan didn’t answer.

Sun Yu was even more anxious. “Answer me! Did you see them getting buried?”

“Sun Yu, do you not know?” Gongsun Mu was confused.

Sun Yu said, “How are we supposed to know? We weren’t together.

“Elder Wu split us into two groups. Feng Wu and Ziyun were in one group, and the eight of us were in another group. Ziyun was in danger, so Elder Wu went to help him.”
