Chapter 208
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 208
Curtis made her both frustrated and amused, âI donât know what you are saying right now.â Leanne, trying to cut to the chase with sheer determination, said, âMeet me at the city hall tomorrow at 3 PM.â
Curtis, leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window with his hands in his pockets, shot. back, âNo.â
Leanne, exasperated, asked, âHow long are you planning to drag this out?â
âIâm genuinely busy tomorrow,â Curtis replied, his tone surprisingly serious this time, âDay after works for me.â
But before Leanne could feel any relief, she frowned, âIâm on shift the day after.â
âAw, that sucks,â Curtis said, adopting a helpless demeanor, âDay after is the only time Iâm
free.â
Getting the divorce papers was now Leanneâs top priority. She bit her lip, thinking it over, âI might be able to get a colleague to cover for me for a bit in the afternoon, so maybe we
canâ¦â
Before she could finish, Curtis, unfazed, interrupted, âOh, didnât catch that. Iâm only free in the morning the day after.â
Leanne choked, âYou knew I was on shift that day on purpose, didnât you?â
Curtisâ deep voice carried a hint of amusement, making him even more infuriating, âLeanne, silly girl, anyone could pull the wool over your
your eyes!â
Leanne hung up the phone, fuming.
Perhaps fearing that she would corner him and drag him to city hall, Curtis disappeared for the next two days.
On Christmas Eve, the hospitalâs usually bustling corridors quieted down in the afternoon, though many patients still couldnât be discharged, spending the holiday amidst the smell of disinfectant with the on-duty medical staff.
After her shift, the colleagues not on duty gradually left.
Amy offered her food to Leanne, âI doubt weâll get any delivery tonight. How âbout I grab you some of my momâs homemade tacos? They taste good. I bet youâll love it!â
Leanne answered back, âNo worries, go have a good time. The hospital always hooks us up with grub, and Donnaâs got me sorted with a microwaveable lasagna.â
Mary had video called Leanne a few days earlier, insisting she come back to the

Richardsons for the holiday.
As soon as Leanne tried to decline, Mary pouted, âWho said that? Even if youâre divorcing Curtis, youâre still my granddaughter, separate issues. It hasnât been that long, and youâre already abandoning me?â
Leanne couldnât help but laugh, knowing Mary was just worried she would be lonely spending the holiday alone.
If not for her duty, she really would have found it hard to refuse, a fact that left Mary
without retort.
âYou hospitals are so heartless!â
Before 7 PM, Leanne received a call from the Richardsonsâ family driver, who, following the matriarchâs orders, delivered the prepared Christmas Eve dinner to the hospital.
Holding two four-layered food containers, Leanne almost couldnât manage.
Her on-duty colleagues were already gathered around, with various kinds of food on the table, alongside dishes from the hospital and those sent by other colleaguesâ families, creating a diverse feast.
When Leanne brought in her food containers, her colleagues gasped in admiration.
Roast chicken with crispy skin, roast lamb, mashed potatoes, and beef stew⦠With dessert included, there were twelve dishes in total, instantly elevating the level of their
Christmas Eve dinner.
âHanging with Dr. Castillo means weâre in for a treat!â
âCome on, everyone.â A colleague lifted their juice, âLetâs toast to Dr. Castillo.â
Leanne raised her glass, smiling, âEnjoy, everyone.â
