Chapter 247
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 247
Curtis let out a long sigh, his eyes filled with resignation and disbelief as he looked at her, âSo, tell me. What should I do? How can I make it so we donât divorce?â
âWhy even bother?â Leanne responded, her voice tinged with sadness and frustration. âWe had our moments, sure, but itâs all broken now. Patching things up wonât bring back what we had. Whatâs the point in settling for something less?â
Each word felt like a needle pricking at the most vulnerable parts of Curtisâ heart.
So, that was what it felt like to be told to settle.
She was standing so close, across the coffee table, yet it felt like she was miles away.
âCurtis, you can have any woman you want. Beauty fades, and besides that, I donât have much else. Iâm not kind or thoughtful and donât know how to cheer you up. You really shouldnât waste your time on me.â
The tightness in Curtisâ chest was unbearable, and he scoffed. âYeah, what woman canât I have? The world is full of women more understanding and charming than you, eager for a hug or a kiss, ready to jump into my lap with just a wave of my hand. Why did I fall for you, of all people? Iâd like to know that, too, Leanne. Maybe you can tell me why. Why is it that I want you and nobody else?â
Leanne turned her head away, taking a moment to steady her breathing and swallow the lump forming in her throat.
âThat is it, and thereâs no turning back,â She warned herself.
âItâs because youâve been spoiled since childhood, getting whatever you wanted effortlessly. Youâve never faced real setbacks. Our marriage is the only failure youâve encountered, and you canât accept it.â
âYou donât want me. You just canât handle failure.â
Curtis sat in the sunlight, feeling as cold and bleak as a freezing wasteland.
His eyes darkened, and he managed a bitter smile. âTalk about karma. I once hurt you, and now, itâs your turn to stab me in the heart.â
âLetâs call it even,â Leanne said calmly. âI only need half an hour of your time. Letâs go to the courthouse and get the papers.â
Curtis felt choked by the stifling sensation, loosening his tie but finding little relief.
âDonât kid yourself. You wouldnât get the papers even if you dragged me to the courthouse today. Didnât you read the agreement after taking it back?â
Leanne was stunned. âWhat do you mean?â

Chapter 247
In Curtisâ enigmatic gaze, her heart sank.
She had reviewed the agreement carefully before signing, confident there were no issues.
But with Curtisâ seasoned legal team behind him, there was always the chance theyâd find some loophole to trap her.
The more she thought about it, the heavier her heart felt. She pulled her copy of the agreement from her bag and flipped through it quickly.
The words seemed to morph into menacing shapes as she went page by page to the end, still unable to identify the problem.
Until her eyes landed on the signature for Party B. Curtisâ bold and fluid handwriting read,
âForgive me.â
It took Leanne a while to process, finally realizing she had been played from the beginning.
Her grip on the agreement tightened, her knuckles turning white.
Still in disbelief, she looked at the man sitting on the couch.
The man whom she had once shared a bed with and who could hurt her with ease deceived her effortlessly.
She had trusted him with everything, even when signing the divorce agreement, believing he wouldnât betray her.
She thought she had been cautious, reviewing every clause, only to be caught off guard by an unexpected twist.
âAre you playing games with me, Curtis?â
âIâm sorry,â Curtis said with regret and apology. âForgive me.â
Leanne threw the agreement at his face.
Curtis closed his eyes, sitting motionlessly, taking the hit.
The agreement struck his face with a thud, a numb pain spreading across his skin like a slap.
