Chapter 306
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 306
âEver since I was born, youâve pretty much been like family to me,â said Curtis, his voice tinged with disbelief. âNow that I canât marry Suzan, are you cutting your relationship with
me?â
âI didnât mean that,â Harrington quickly replied.
Despite the discomfort brewing within him, he knew better than to sour his long-standing relationship with the Richardson family. Pleasantries were necessary, even if just on the
surface.
Jennifer spoke with her usual poise, âEven though it didnât work out between you and Suzan, letâs not let this incident estrange our families after all these years.â
Claudine could only agree, murmuring, âYouâre right.â
âLast time, the caregiver who looked after grandma was excellent, attentive and efficient, with impeccable references. Mrs. Wright canât manage everything on her own. Iâve brought someone along to help out for the next few days.â Curtis added, âIâve got some free time these days. Iâll swing by in the evenings to pick up Leanne from work. Just call if you need anything.â
His offer seemed generous, but it was also a subtle warning.
Leanne pulled up Harringtonâs medical reports on her computer, quickly reviewing the results from the slit lamp examination and the fluorescein angiography photos.
After a brief review, she determined the severity and scope of Harringtonâs eye inflammation.
A few minutes later, she entered the hospital room where Curtis stood at the foot of the bed, hands in his trouser pockets, eyes fixed on her as she walked in.
She ignored his gaze and went straight to explaining the test results to Harrington. âSo far, thereâs no sign of infection, but we still need to run some tests on your rheumatic and immune systems. We canât rule out a masquerade syndrome. Iâll arrange for a vitreous fluid test tomorrow.â
Harrington had shifted his attitude drastically from the stern looks he gave her that morning to a more cooperative demeanor now. âGo ahead and arrange it,â he consented.
Leanne couldnât quite read their expressions, but she knew this wasnât a sudden tùrnaround. More like a temporary peace treaty, probably due to Curtis and Jennifer being present.
After leaving the hospital room, Jennifer gave her a few instructions before departing.
Curtis lingered by the wall, his eyes following Leanne. Jennifer, uninterested in his pitiful demeanor, left on her own.

Chapter 306
As Leanne was about to get back to work, Curtis strolled up behind her, casually inquiring, âI hear youâve become quite bold, even daring to scold your elders now.â
Knowing exactly where the gossip had stemmed from, Leanne dismissed it without explanation, âSmart people donât fall for rumors.â
Curtis studied her expression, finding no trace of distress.
âDid Mrs. Wright give you a hard time?â he asked.
Thinking back to Claudineâs speechless frustration in the office, it seemed she was the more aggrieved party.
The trouble brought by the Wright family often outweighed any personal grievances.
âItâs fine,â Leanne replied coolly. âNo worse than what youâve put me through.â
Curtis paused, then a smile spread across his face, perhaps pleased by her familiar tone.
He grabbed Leanneâs wrists and pulled her close, his eyes gleaming as he looked down at her. âIâm a villain deserving of the worst. Should you punish me then?â
Leanne thought to retort that she didnât care about punishing him.
Curtis sentenced himself, âHow about Iâm not allowed to kiss you for three days?â
What a ridiculous punishment!
Leanne retorted, âYou shouldnât be kissing me anyway.â
âDo you punish me or not?â Curtis asked.
Punishing him meant he could kiss her after three days?
Leanne wasnât foolish enough to play such flirtatious games. âNo punishment.â
Curtisâ smile got even bigger, his tone leisurely, âNo punishment? So, I can kiss you then.â
His words were a minefield of traps.
Leanne, not one to be outmaneuvered, shrugged him off and stuffed her hands in her lab coat pockets. As she turned to leave, she caught someoneâs gaze.
At the end of the hallway stood Suzan, who had appeared out of nowhere, her eyes deep and inscrutable, watching them.
Leanne paid her no mind and walked past, heading straight down the corridor.
