Chapter 363
Hold My Tear, I’m Getting My Wife Back! ( Leanne Castillo )
Chapter 363
A young officer, overly transparent for his own good, blurted out, âWeâve got body cams rolling, itâs all recordedâ¦â only to be elbowed sharply by his partner who shot him a warning glance that made him awkwardly clear his throat and fall silent.
Curtis, done with teasing Leanne, said, âHang tight for a moment,â and stepped aside to talk to the detective in charge.
Scuffles were common here, an incident such as this would often be brushed off as trivial family squabbles-just relatives hashing it out. But this particular case had drawn unexpected attention. As soon as the suspect was brought in, the chief of police himself called to emphasize careful handling of the matter, hinting at the importance of the
individuals involved.
The officers, warned that the parties involved had significant influence, meticulously documented the case instead of settling it with a quick chat, as was usual. They even held the three employees from Uplink Credit Solutions for an extended interrogation.
Curtis, whose status was unclear to the policemen but whose presence alone-underscored by the Rolls Royce parked outside-suggested high pedigree, was briefed on the case details. The employees from Uplink had confessed that Carl owed them three million and couldnât pay up. They had tried to collect from his niece, Ms. Castillo, a respected doctor at a top-tier hospital, but left empty-handed when she threatened to call the police. Upon hearing Car was home, theyâd rushed to confront him. Curtis remained silent, glancing over at Leanne, who was oblivious to the ongoing conversation. As their eyes met under the bright station lights, the meaning hidden in his gaze was cryptic.
After a while, Curtis casually took Leanneâs hand and said, âLetâs go.â
âCan we leave now?â Leanne asked, having just finished giving her statement and not fully understanding the procedure due to it being her first ever visit to a police station.
âWhat, havenât had enough fun here?â Curtis joked lightly. âHavenât tried the interrogation room yet? How about I get some handcuffs, and play cop for a bit?â
Leanne, who had never been in an interrogation room but had seen enough movies, was slightly flustered by his teasing tone.
âCan you be serious for a moment?â she whispered fiercely.
âSure,â he replied solemnly, âweâll bring the interrogation home.â
The female officer handling their case spoke up, âYour aunt already explained everything to us. Carl was the instigator, and you acted in self-defense. Plus, the injuries arenât severe enough to warrant charges.â

âYour aunt, as a family member, has also expressed forgiveness and wonât press any charges. Youâre free to go.â
As Curtis and Leanne left the station, Violet was waiting anxiously outside, her left cheek swollen and a cut on her lip darkened with dried blood-it was clear Carl had been harsh.
Violet started to approach, but Curtisâ cool glance made her hesitate and stop in her tracks, wary of coming closer.
âDid the police give you any trouble?â Violet asked timidly.
Leanne turned to Curtis, âI need to speak with her for a moment.â
âGo ahead,â he said, releasing her hand. âIâll wait here.â
Leanneâs feelings towards Violet were complex, a mix of past affection and subsequent abandonment. After her parents died, Violet was all she had, and she cherished that bond. However, being left alone when she needed her most taught Leanne the hard
lesson of self-reliance.
Understanding Violetâs predicament yet resenting her weakness, Leanneâs feelings had faded over time, her once beloved aunt becoming a stranger.
Twenty years had aged Violet significantly, the hardships etched deeply in her face.
Leanne approached, pulling out some emergency cash she kept on hand, âYou should buy some medicine.â
Violet quickly tried to refuse, âNo, no, thatâs not necessaryâ¦â
