Chapter sixty three

His Mate: Prince Asher

Gideon and the rest of the alphas rushed outside to see everywhere in commotion. The watch wolves were trying to prevent something or rather someone from approaching further but they seem to be failing woefully at it because whoever they were trying to stop was picking them out one by one and slamming away.

“Enough!” Liam’s voice sounded and everywhere stilled. The Guards on seeing their alpha stopped and moved aside. Gideon gasped when he saw the man in the middle of the guards. Asher’s blue eyes landed on him and Gideon shivered and involuntarily took a step back. “Who are you?” Laim asked.

“How dare a rogue to question me?” Asher asked, his eyes going to Laim now. “You have no fear, you dared lay a hand on her?”

From his words, the alphas had recognized who he was from Gideon’s description of him. “High Alpha, of what do we owe this…visit?” Laim asked, offering a smile even though he could feel his inside breaking down in fear. This is the Alpha king, but he is so young. He doesn’t look over twenty, how could he be the alpha king?

Alpha Joe and the rest of the alphas seem to be thinking the same thing and they refused to believe that the man in front of them was over two hundred years old as alpha king’s powers are being passed down every two hundred years and it was just a boy in front of them. Perhaps Gideon had mistaken him for the alpha king. And so because of that, they forgot their fear and looked at Asher in a condescending manner. “Little boy, have you no respect coming here and attacking the Moonstone pack, did we look like a pushover to you?”

“Alpha Joe, please, don’t,” Gideon said fearfully.

Right at that moment, the future alphas and warriors of the other four packs arrived. Joe smiled when he saw his son and the warriors, now, let him see how this young boy will cower at such army. The five packs of Eastwood may not be plenty but they are still formidable, especially their hidden ability of not being weakened by wolfsbane.

“Who are you?” Laim asked.

Asher glanced around him and at the army that has been formed for him and he scoffed before looking at the elderly men. “You think you can defeat me?” he raised an eyebrow.

“What insolent!” Joe was enraged, “who do you think you are?”

“All of you combined are not even worth my pinky finger,” Asher insisted, “and yet you think that this measly army can defeat me?”

“Alpha Asher, please calm down. I am sure we can talk this out,” Gideon said. He doesn’t want to engage in a fight with Asher, not only because he knew he won’t win but because Anita seemed to be very close to him and the last thing he would want is reducing his worth more in her eyes.

“You should have thought of that before kidnapping her.” Asher said. “I warned you did I not? I gave you a proposition before, let her go and I will let your little packs go but yet, you kidnapped her, what did you think I would do if I found out?”

“Please, listen. I did not mean to do it, we were forced to.”

“Gideon, why are you explaining to him, who does he think he is?” One of the alphas asked angrily and the rest seconded.

“Who am I?” Asher raised an eyebrow with an eerie smile before his eyes flashed blue, “I’m your worst nightmare.” And with that, he started attacking. Everyone was surprised, they didn’t expect him to start the fight by himself and was shocked to see how everything was turning out. Asher, unexpectedly, wasn’t fighting to kill but he was injuring them as well. Any guard that came in contact with him are thrown meters away and they would clutch a part of them and be groaning in pain.

“Fuck,” Gideon cursed, he could see that Asher was being lenient with them, after all, he has not forgotten how effortless he had fought those creatures that night. He was thinking fast about how to end the whole fight before Asher got really angry. The only option would be to present Naomi to him, but he can’t do that. That cloak woman holds the antidote to his father’s poison and Naomi was like the ticket to his father surviving. He believed that if given the chance he could explain to Asher and if Goddess is on their side, he would listen and agree to just let them hold Naomi her for some time. Although he thinks that, he knew it still won’t be possible. Which Male would allow his mate to be held captive even if she would be treated like an honored guest?

He was still lost in his thought when he heard one of the alphas say, “he is strong, he would be done with them in less than five minutes. What are we going to do?”

Joe clenched his teeth in anger before saying, “I think it’s time to use our secret weapon.”

“Secret weapon?” Gideon asked, surprised.

“Wolfsbane,” Laim answered.

“No, we can’t do that. It’s fatal to wolves.”

“It’s the only way we can win this unplanned battle.” Laim said with a defeated sigh.

“But…but…” Gideon wanted to protest some more and Joe glared at him.

“Would you rather your father died then? Fine, give him the girl, he would leave and then that woman would come, she would kill your father and not just that, the rest of the packs would suffer. Is that better, huh Gideon, is it better?”

Gideon bit his lip, no matter what, he knew that was not the option he wanted. Everything he does was for the betterment of the Eastwood packs and now he will just throw everything away? He glanced at Asher where he was fighting the warriors, a fight he would win in the next three minutes and he knew that once Asher was done with the warriors, he would be coming for them. So throwing caution into the wind, he dashed to their store to get the supplies. Asher would just be weakened, he won’t die and he would take his weakened state to explain everything to him. Hopefully, when Asher finally recovers, he wouldn’t take it against them.

He wondered if the plan would work though, but he recalled that night when Asher chased them, just biting him had weakened him. He had wondered what happened to Asher then but now he thinks it was because of the wolfbane in his blood. Grabbing the bag of wolfbane, he rushed back to the fight scene. The Eastwood wolves would be fine in exposure to wolfbane and so without thinking, he tore open the bag and threw the wolfbane in the air. It was like dust, silver colored dust and it soon covered them, contaminating the air. His eyes stung but it was the only thing it would do to him and his people because of the direct exposure but the same can’t be said about Asher and fair enough, he started coughing, his strength draining from him.

“Finally, let’s see how arrogant he can be now,” Joe hissed.

Asher couldn’t understand what was happening, one minute he was fine and in the next, he was feeling so weak like every strength has been drained from him. He glanced around him, the whole ground was covered in silver dust and it was then it occurred to him: Wolfsbane. He turned and glared at Gideon and seeing the bag in his hand, he knew he was the one that released the toxic dust. However, what he couldn’t understand was why Gideon would do that if they are all wolves. But seeing how erect they were all still standing and how he was the only one affected, he realized that the wolfsbane doesn’t affect them because they are mutants.

How possible? How could he have never known about mutant wolves?

“Restrain him,” Joe’s voice sounded and the warriors approached Asher. He tried to fight them off but his strength was gone and he could feel the pain burning down his throat from breathing in the dust. All his life, he has never been exposed to that amount of wolfsbane before and definitely not even in the dust form. His mind was getting disoriented but at that moment, he noticed something, he couldn’t feel Naomi again.

The fear made his eyes widened as he searched for her, although she didn’t mark him, he was connected to her, could always feel her but now, it was like she doesn’t exist, like she had left the surface of the world. The fear of what could have happened to her and what pain the pack could have subjected her to enraged him and before the warriors could lay a hand on him, a gust of wind burst out of him, blowing the warriors yards away from him.

Gideon was shocked, where could such energy had come from? But when he looked in front of him, instead of seeing Asher, what he saw was a ten feet beast with red face.
