Chapter 18- Lucas

I plopped on the comfortable bed as I exited the shower. Hudson went in the bathroom. Archer was

sitting on the desk chair, reading a book he found somewhere.

This is the most relaxed I have felt since the attack. I can tell by looking that Archer and Hudson felt

the same.

There is a sense of security in this house. A sort of warmth and hominess that I didn't knew I missed

so much.

In all this running and surviving, I had missed these simple gestures of taking a shower, laying on

your bed and staring at the ceiling thinking random things and some other things like having a full

house and dinner with family.

These things seem so modest but they are really important and we seem to take it for granted. We

only realize how important they are to us, once we lose them.

"What are you thinking?” Archer asked breaking me out of my pondering

"About how much our lives changed in one day. Before the attack we didn't have a slightest idea of

this world and now we are living in the middle of it. We lost everything but found something new.”

"Yeah. It has been a whirlwind. I just hope that our parents were still alive. I miss them. I didn’t even

get to say goodbye to them.” Archer said giving me a sad smile.

“I want to help them with the attack. It will at least bring some sort of justice and peace to our

parents and the other people we lost.” Hudson said as he exited the bathroom.

He must have heard us talking.

“l want to as well but I don’t know how it will work.” I voiced.

"What do you mean?” Archer asked.

"See from what I collected, our Alpha is dead and that must be the chief's son. A pack needs an

Alpha to function and we don't have him. We do have a beta which is one of us but we still need an

Alpha. Even if we did shift, who will lead us? Who will take charge of us? What if they thought that

we shouldn't be shifting as we don’t have an Alpha? The spirit walker has total control over the

shifting process. What if she decides that we shouldn't shift due to lack of a leader? We won't be

able to help and get justice. We will be too weak to fight against those monsters anyways. I just

hope they let us in this. I want to give it my all to save the people I have left with me.” I told them.

Archer and Hudson looked stunned for a moment.

Yup! We didn’t know about the shifter world till the day we were attacked but from what we

concluded, it must have been kept in the chief's family. The day of the attack was a total shock and

chaos. We didn’t know anything at all about the creatures that were killing us nor did we know that

we were a part of their world in some way.

When the chief shifted into a massive wolf, we were shocked but we ran as instructed by his wife

and sons. They were trying to help us but they got killed in the process.

Nobody anticipated an attack of that sorts. Not even in their dreams. There was confusion

everywhere. The parents took over for the chief's family and the children ran but they came after us

too until we were saved and told about the way out.

We were pushed into a new world headlong without any warning but we wanted revenge so we

made it our mission to survive and fight back when we get a chance. Seems like we have that

chance now but there is a possibility that it can be taken away from us.

"We will figure something out. We will kill as many demons as we can before dying. I am not going

to sit around and watch people defend me and lose their lives. This time I will fight too and no one

is going to stop me from doing that.” Archer said standing up from his chair.

“Yeah! We will fight. With or without being shifters, it doesn't matter if we don’t have extra

properties to us. We will fight with what we got.” Hudson said plopping beside me.

A knock broke us out of our heated discussion and we went downstairs to eat. The Astley’s were

waiting for us with a table full of delicious looking food but my mind was solely wondering to our

talk earlier.

We will fight no matter what and with everything we have got. We won't rest peacefully till we get

to the bottom of this and eradicate the people responsible for the demise of our people.
