Chapter 1093
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
"Sandy and Kiran were here earlier, did you know that?"
"Yeah, I heard."
"I think Kiran might be spying on us."
Sophie didn't beat around the bush, laying out her suspicions directly. "Kiran, being the heir to the Pollard family, wouldnât typically come himself. But seeing how close he is with Sandy, like they're real siblings, it throws me off. What's Kiran's angle in watching me?"
Despite everything, Burke Estate had been unusually calm.
If Kiran was truly as shrewd as the rumors suggested, how could he stay in Devonport for so long without making a move?
Sophie had let Kiran and Sandy stay at Burke Estate to keep an eye on them while they thought they were surveilling her.
But with time passing, nothing significant happened in Devonport.
"Havenât you started doubting Kiran's identity already?"
"Doubting is one thing, figuring out his motives is another, and uncovering his real identity is yet another challenge."
Sophie shook her head slightly. "I canât tell if heâs playing dumb or genuinely clueless. Looks like it's time to test him."
"Then letâs test him. Finding out what heâs really up to shouldnât be too hard."
Sophie and Colby exchanged knowing glances, understanding each other's thoughts perfectly.
Meanwhile...
"Achoo!"
Angelo sneezed out of nowhere. Sandy, who was fiddling with her phone in Angeloâs room, looked up and said, "The weather in Summerfield is terrible. Bro, are you catching a cold?"
"Not really."
Angelo rubbed his nose. "I just suddenly felt a chill down my spine."
"A chill?"
Sandy glanced around and then pointed at the air conditioner on the wall behind Angelo. "You mean...this?"
"No wonder I felt a draft on my back!"
Angelo promptly turned off the air conditioner.
Outside, Polly knocked and said, "Mr. Angelo, Ms. Sandy, itâs almost lunchtime. Would you prefer to dine in your room or..."
"In the..."
"Living room!"
Angelo cut Sandy off before she could finish.
Sandy frowned, clearly annoyed. "Why do we have to eat with them? I donât want to see Odie and that ice block he always has with him!"
"Come on, meals are more enjoyable with more people. It doesnât matter if you donât go; as long as I go, itâs fine."
With that, Angelo unexpectedly left the room.
Watching him go, Sandy was even more puzzled. "Whatâs gotten into him?"
In the living room, Angelo came downstairs to find the dining table empty. Polly had already set lunch, so Angelo asked, "Arenât Odie and Sophie coming down for lunch?"
Polly shook her head. "Ms. Sophie is taking care of Mr. Colby, so she wonât be coming down. Mr. Odie always eats in his room."
Hearing this, Angelo's enthusiasm deflated.
You could've told me sooner!
"Could you tell me what Ms. Sophie had for lunch today?"
"It was..."
"Wait a moment! Let me write it down!"
Angelo pulled out a notebook and pen he always carried with him.
James needed to know if Sophie was eating well and sleeping well. Angelo had to keep meticulous records!
