Chapter 1129
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
Itâs a good thing she got out early, or who knows what wouldâve happened.
âYouâre amazing! How did you know Vanessa was gunning for you?â
âCome on, donât you see this white dress Iâm wearing?â
Sophie dropped her voice, pulling Sandy into a corner. âThis place isnât safe. Sooner or later, theyâll find us. Hereâs what you need to do.â
âWhat are we supposed to do?â
Sandy was scared, not quite getting what Sophie was hinting at.
Sophie quickly laid out her plan: âFirst, take off your high heels to save your energy. Second, the second floor is the safest place. Run there and find a spot to hide. Those hunters wonât get too close. Third, if any of the other socialites spot you, team up with them. Tell them youâre in on catching me.â
âHow can I do that?â
âRight now, everyoneâs out to capture me alive. If youâre the odd one out, theyâll think youâre a traitor and hand you over to the hunters. Youâd be toast.â
Sophie took a breath and continued, âVanessa wouldnât do something like this unless she wasnât planning on making it out alive. She says we just need to survive for three hours, but in reality, after three hours, weâre all toast! This is a deadly game, and she wonât spare any of us. So, our goal isnât to run. We need to take down the leader first!â
Sandy finally clicked.
Vanessa was this crazy?
Seeing Sophie about to step out from behind the curtain, Sandy quickly grabbed her. âWhere are you going?â
âObviously, Iâm going to distract them so you can make a run for it to the second floor.â
âWhat about you? That white dress is like a beacon. Youâll definitely get noticed. How will you escape? And running in that dress...â
Before Sandy could finish, Sophie tore a big slit in her dress.
Sandy was stunned.

âRemember what I said, staying alive is the priority.â
â...Okay.â
Sophie had timed it perfectly. Vanessaâs people shouldâve been intercepted outside the hotel.
She noticed the Minton familyâs people checking the outside, but the venue was mainly set up by the Gibbs family.
Daniel mustâve known what Vanessa was up to, but he didnât tip off Odie.
Earlier, Vanessa said sheâd spend her entire fortune on this trap. She probably wasnât talking about the venue costs. Maybe she had to bribe Daniel.
Or perhaps Vanessa was working with someone behind the scenes, trading life for life, wealth for life, to pull off this event.
The latter seemed more likely.
With Vanessaâs status, she couldnât have pulled off such a massive scheme on her own.
If Odieâs people were outside, theyâd definitely burst in if nothing happened inside after three hours.
Daniel was a flip-flopper. If he saw the plan was failing after three hours, heâd inform Odie first to save his skin.
So, she had to hold on until the third hour, to last until the end.
In the meantime, it was best to create a big enough ruckus to alert Odieâs people outside.
âWhereâs Sophie?!â
A womanâs scream snapped Sophie out of her thoughts.
Soon, the hunters emerged from one side of the first floor.
