Chapter 1762
Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)
The van was parked right in front of them.
And just like that, a police car rolled up.
There was an empty alley with no one around to call for help, yet somehow, the police car appeared.
These thoughts danced around in Alecâs mind, making him more certain than ever of his belief. Fiona seemed to have a guardian angel on her side;
no matter what danger she faced, she always found a way to come out unscathed.
The next morning, Alec and Fiona made their way to Seabay High School together.
Harold drove them there himself. As they neared the school, he gave them a serious talk: "From here on, I'll be at the school gate ten minutes early.
You two aren't to hang around outside the school, avoid the food stalls at the gate, and don't take food from classmates. Keep an eye out for anything suspicious, and remember to stay safe."
"Understood, Uncle."
Fiona and Alec stepped out of the car one by one. Alecâs expression turned serious. Clearly, from Mr. Aldridgeâs reaction, something sketchy was brewing near the school.
"Let's get moving."
Fiona led the way. Alec stayed quiet, his eyes scanning the crowd with extra caution. There were noticeably more guards at the entrance of Seabay High School than the previous day, along with some undercover officers blending into the scene.
Others might miss it, but Alec, having been trained from a young age, could see the security setup clearly. It was like a tight net cast around the school to keep everyone inside safe.
"Fiona!"
Betty hurried over, eager to show off a little figurine sheâd bought. But when she looked up, she spotted Alec trailing behind Fiona.
"Hey, Fiona, did you both come to school together? Are you guys related?" Betty asked, curiosity piqued.
"Kind of, he's my cousin."
"Cousin?"
Betty was taken aback. She and Fiona had been tight since their freshman orientation, and yet Fiona had never mentioned a cousin before.
"Anyway, Fiona, check out this cute figurine I got. Isnât it adorable?" Betty handed Fiona the pink figurine, holding an identical one herself. "This oneâs for you. We both get one!"
"Sure thing."
Fiona took the figurine. Betty went on, "Oh, and after school, swing by my place. I want to show you my collection of figurines, and we can knock out some homework together."
"Sounds good..."
"Nope!"
Before Fiona could finish, Alec stepped forward and pulled her hand away. Betty was taken aback by Alecâs sudden move.
With a cool tone, Alec said, "Sheâs not going anywhere for the next few days."
Betty stood there, stunned. Fiona was equally surprised.
"Come on, letâs go."
Alec tugged Fiona by the arm, leading her into the school.
"Alec! She's my best friend!" Fiona protested, "Canât you be a bit nicer?"
Alec didnât respond, just kept on walking.
"Alec! Iâm talking to you!" Fiona called out.
Alec stopped abruptly, making Fiona nearly bump into him.
"What did Mr. Aldridge just say?"
"......"
"Right now, visiting anyoneâs house is off the table."
Alec tapped Fiona lightly on the forehead, adding, "You need to be more cautious from now on."
