Chapter 27
Unfortunate Friends 1: My Best Frenemy
Georgina
After deciding that the booster seats for his little sisters wonât fit in my little Bug, AJ reluctantly hands over his car keys to me as well as his house keys.
I settle myself into the driverâs seat.
âSo, where am I going?â I find myself gazing into his deep brown eyes for a second too long.
He seems to notice, and his cheeks turn a light shade of pink, blinking his eyes a few times to bring himself out of his daze.
â~Ahem~â¦I-uh Iâll justâ¦â AJ leans over me, his firm chest pressed against my thigh, and programs in the address for his sistersâ pre-school into the sat nav.
Even through his T-shirt, I can feel the defined muscles, and I feel a tingling in the apex of my thighs. âThere. Iâll come find you after the game?â
âYeah. Iâll be the one with the kids!â I mentally facepalm myself when he gives me a quizzical look. âGood luck tonight.â

Lottie and Sammy are very excited to see me when I collect them. After taking them home and feeding them, we get ourselves ready to watch the football game.
As we are about to leave the house, Sammy starts crying.
âWhatâs wrong, sweetheart?â I crouch down in front of her, anxiously scanning her for anything obviously wrong.
âIâ¦Iâ¦~hic~â¦~â ~She can barely get her words out through the sobs.
âShhh, shh. Itâs okay.â I rub her arms, trying to comfort her.
âIâ¦w-wet myself!â Sammy wails. I bite my lips to stop from smiling.
~Thank the lord itâs nothing serious!~

I then notice the dark stain on her jean dungarees Iâd just changed her into.
âThatâs okay, sweetie. Letâs go get you cleaned up, hey? It doesnât matter if weâre a few minutes late to see your brother.
âAnd Iâm sure heâll take you out for ice cream to cheer you up afterward if you ask nicely.â The mention of ice cream stops the tears, and a wobbly smile appears on her pink lips.

As I walk up the bleachers to take a seat, Sammyâs hand grasped on one side, and Lottie held onto my hip on the other, AJ waves to us from the field.
His little sisters both frantically wave back, and Drew, PJ, and Jake all see them and wave too, eliciting excited giggles from the little girls.
The team does amazing. Thanks to Jake and AJ, we steal the game in the last quarter. They really are the dynamic duo on the field.
I hang around near the doors to the changing rooms, watching Sammy and Lottie play with one of the footballs that had been overlooked.
Before too long, AJ emerges, freshly showered. His wet hair looks even blacker than usual, falling into his eyes like a GQ model, and his cologne swirls around him in an amazing scented cloud.
âHey! Whereâre my two beautiful girls?â
Heâs so adorable with his sisters, picking them both up and swinging them around while they both smack little kisses onto his cheeks.
~I can almost feel my ovaries swoon~.

âHey Gina, thanks for doing this. Itâsâ¦uh, well, itâs really cool of you.â
âItâs whatever. I did it to help your mom out.â I shrug, trying to act nonchalant, but the rapidly spreading blush I can feel working its way up from my chest isnât really helping.
âI had an accident, Andy.â Sammy pouts.
âOh no! Not a bad one, I hope.â AJ does the same scan of her little figure that I did.
âShe wet herself,â I whisper.
âBut Gina made me better. And she said youâd take us all out for ice cream!â Sammy grins at me.
âOh, Gina said that, did she?â AJ grins at me, too, one eyebrow raised. My cheeks are on fire now.
âWellâ¦I meant youâd take your sisters outâ¦â The floor suddenly becomes very interesting to me. AJ walks over to me and leans closer to my ear, his breath on my skin making me shiver slightly.
âIf you wanted me to go on a date, you couldâve just asked. You didnât have to use my little sisters.â He pulls back and winks at me.
âI wasnât!â My indignant rant is interrupted by Lottie slipping her little hand into mine.
âIce-keem! Geeena come ice-keem!â
âWell, the master has spoken! Youâre coming for ice cream with us.â AJ chuckles, pressing a kiss on Lottieâs chubby cheek. I roll my eyes.
âWell, if itâs an order, I guess Iâll have to!â
