17. Indescribable feeling

Kelsey's POV

*****

Everything went on great after the talk I had with Ethan. He even helped me with some of the chores like he used to do before. He was really great at acting like all of that stuff didn't happen, especially in front of the girls.

With Meg and Noah gone, I thought that I would have felt alone, but Ethan somehow made it all better.

Sadly, that day wasn't going to be one of those amazing days when I felt like smiling from cheek to cheek.

Why?

It was that time of month where mother nature kindly decided to prove to me that I was not pregnant.

Mother nature even woke me up with huge pain in my back and huge cramps. Including a gigantic headache.

I tried to ignore the pain and cook breakfast for everyone like usual, but I couldn't do it. I fell on the floor, crying in pain and unable to get myself back up again.

"Kels, hey what's wrong?" Ethan asked, picking me up bridal style, concern evident in his voice.

"Nothing, I'm fine," I lied, my trembling voice giving me away.

He looked at me softly with worry in his eyes. "Kelsey, you're not fine, this does not look like fine. Let me take you to your room okay?" He gently said.

I nodded and he started walking towards the stairs.

I let him carry me upstairs to my room, laying me down on my bed and putting the covers on me.

"Now can you tell me what's wrong? Do you need to go to the hospital?" He asked, looking sincerely worried about me, making my heart tighten.

I found it really sweet how worried he looked.

"No Ethan, it's fine. It's just that mother nature decided to pay me a visit," I tried to explain.

It was awkward for me to admit. I had always found it difficult to tell my dad, let along Ethan.

"You could have just said so before giving me a panic attack," he replied letting out a loud sigh.

"You didn't give me a chance to," I replied with a small chuckle.

He looked at me softly, smiling slightly.

"Okay, well I think mom has some kind of medicine you mix with water to numb the pain, she said it works miracles," he said. "I'll go bring you some," he continued before running downstairs.

If I wasn't in so much pain I would have been swooning at how cute and caring Ethan was acting. Not even my dad ever acted that way.

"Here," Ethan said handing me a cup of water and the small packet as soon as he returned to my room.

"These aren't drugs are they?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him, half of me joking while the other half being completely and utterly serious.

It wasn't difficult to figure out that I had trust issues.

"Oh yeah, definitely," he sarcastically said making me laugh.

But when it came to Ethan, I knew that I could trust him.

"Thanks," I said after emptying the cup, cringing slightly as soon as the aftertaste kicked in.

"It's no problem. Now you stay here and rest, do you have any uhm..you know..?" he said scratching the back of his neck, something he always did when he got nervous or embarrassed.

"Yeah, I do, it's fine," I said before he took the glass from my hand.

"Okay then, great. I'll take care of everything today okay? You just stay here and get better," he said, looking at me intently with a really adorable smile, making me forget my pain for just a second.

Key word being just a second.

"Are you sure you can handle it on your own?" I asked.

I didn't want to put any extra pressure on Ethan. Babysitting was my job as much as it was his, and I felt bad leaving him to do everything on his own.

"I'm Ethan Walker, I can take care of two young girls on my own," he replied as he was about to leave.

"Thank you E," I sleepily said making him turn around and flashing me another smile.

"You're welcome. If you need anything, just ask," he said before he walking downstairs.

It was the little things like that that made me enjoy being in the company of Ethan. He thought that acting sweet makes him seem uncool, but to me it was those little sweet things that made me want to be friends with him, and not whenever he acted like a jerk.

****

"Kelsey, are you dead?" I heard a tiny voice say, waking me up from a deep sleep.

"No Ellie, I'm alive," I mumbled opening my eyes.

I rubbed my eyes slightly, taking in my surroundings.

"Oh thank goodness," she said. "Ethan told us that you weren't feeling well and that he was going to take care of me and Lara for today."

"Yeah, but I feel better now," I honestly said, sitting up on the bed.

The medicine that Ethan had given me had surprisingly worked. I needed to go and check what type of medicine it was, I knew that I could really use some every month.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"About five o'clock," she replied. "Ethie went to the supermarket with Lara. I didn't want to leave you alone so I stayed here to take care of you," Ellie said, flashing me one of those smiles that makes you want to squeeze her to death.

"I brought you some water, see?" She continued with a toothy grin, pointing at the plastic princess cup full of water on my bedside table. "Mom doesn't let me touch the glass cups," she said, explaining her choice of cups as her cheeks burned red.

"Aww Els, that's so sweet of you baby girl. Thank you, I love princesses" I replied, making her grin.

"I try," she cutely replied, making me chuckle slightly.

Ellie's innocence often made me want to go back to being a little child. No tension, no problems, just being able to be yourself.

"We're home," I heard Ethan announce from downstairs, the sound of his voice instinctively making me smile and my heart rate increase.

I slowly got up from the bed to go downstairs and help Ethan with the groceries. I was feeling a lot better, and I didn't want to take advantage of Ethan, leaving him to do everything.

"Are you sure you don't need to rest a while longer? I feel really bad for waking you," Ellie asked looking at me as she saw me walk out the door.

"Yes Els I'm sure, thank you," I replied as I sent her a smile.

She smiled back, taking my hand and walking me down the stairs, ensuring that I don't fall.

"Kelsey what are you doing out of bed? You need to stay and rest," Ethan said as he noticed me, concern in his eyes once more.

"I feel a lot better Eth, I came downstairs to help you," I replied.

"Well Ellie and I are going to play upstairs now, see you guys later," Lara said grabbing her sister's hand and dragging her up the stairs with a grin on her face.

"But I wanted to stay and watch," Ellie protested, releasing her sister's grip from her hand.

"Hush up Ellie, we should leave them alone. Nothing's going to happen between them if we stay there and watch like creepy stalkers," Lara softly said as they walked up the stairs.

I looked at Ethan who was looking at the floor, his face as red as mine.

Lara seemed to be so engrossed in the fact that something had to happen between me and Ethan, and sometimes, I found myself doing the same thing.

"So, erm I bo-I mean we bought you some stuff," Ethan said, nervously scratching the back of his neck as he nodded towards the grocery bag.

"Ooo what'd you get me?" I curiously asked as I looked in to the bag.

My eyes widened in surprise as I saw everything that was inside. My favorite ice cream, candy, bath bombs, pads, and even a huge teddy bear.

"Oh my God Eth, this is adorable!" I squealed as I took out the large white fluffy bear with a red bow around it's neck.

It was the cutest thing I had ever seen.

"Erm, yeah. Lara saw it, she practically begged me to get it for you so I decided to make her happy, and you," he said as he looked directly at me, making my heart flutter at how cute he sounded in that moment.

"Thank you," I said as I hugged him. "You're amazing" I replied before I gave him a quick peck on the cheeks and ran upstairs to take a warm bath with one of the bath bombs.

****

After the bath, it had gotten pretty late so I decided to just get in my pajamas and take some pain killers that Ethan had brought me.

"Hi Kelsey, how are you feeling?" Lara asked me while knocking on the bedroom door to get my attention.

"I'm feeling a lot better Lar, thank you for asking," I replied.

She smiled at me adoringly, shaking her head before speaking.

"No Kels, thank you for everything you do for us. I know it's a lot of hard work and I appreciate everything you do for us," she said making my heart melt.

"Aww, Lara those were some beautiful words," I replied as I pulled her in for a hug.

Those kids surely knew how to make someone forget about their pain, even without trying.

"Did you like the bear Ethan got you?" Lara asked, sitting on my bed with a smile.

I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. Ethan had said that Lara had wanted me to have the bear, not him.

"Ethan got it for me?" I asked, wanting to clarify.

"Yeah, he saw it and when I asked what he was doing he said that he wanted to buy you something special," she said. "You should have seen the glow in his eyes. It made me remember that my brother actually has a heart. He has never done that. Not even for us."

It was sweet hearing that Ethan had thought about me and gotten me the bear. If the words were coming from Lara then it meant that they were probably true. I just didn't know why he lied about it, and that was something I was willing to find out.

*****

"Hey Eth," I said as I went downstairs to the living room.

"Hey Kels."

He was watching yet another episode of Riverdale.

"Mate that show has gotten you hooked," I said as I flopped down next to him, stealing some of his popcorn.

"It has a good story," he replied, glaring at me for the popcorn stealing.

"Yeah, until you reach the third season," I replied with a small laugh before dropping my gaze to my hands, preparing myself for what I was about to say.

"Eth, I need to tell you something," I told him, making him shift his gaze to me, giving me his fullest attention.

I had to ask him, no matter how awkward or embarrassing it was going to be, for either of us.

"Thank you. For the bear," I said sending him a small smile.

"I already told you that Lara got it for you, not me," he said, looking away from me and back to the T.V, clearly trying to hide his nervousness.

"Oh really? Because Lara said the complete opposite," I replied, smirking at him.

He sighed and looked down, a guilty look on his face.

"E why would you lie to me? You did something sweet, it's not like you did something that could get you in to trouble for," I said.

"I know, I know. But I thought you wouldn't like it as much if you knew it was from me," he replied, fidgeting with his fingers.

"That's the sweetest yet stupidest thing you have ever said to me," I replied with a small laugh. "E a gift is a gift, I'd love it either way. I think it was sweet that you thought about me and got it for me. I love it," I replied, placing my hand on his to make him stop fidgeting.

"You do?" He asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, I do."

We just stared at each other for a while, making me think that he hadn't completely believed me. His eyes shifted to our hands, which were still connected. I could feel my cheeks burning, my brain telling me to remove my hands from top of his.

Before I had the chance to do so, Ethan started leaning in, sending my heart in a frenzy.

Was he going to try and kiss me again?

Was I going to let him?

Before I had anytime to ask any more questions which I could overthink, his lips were on mine, sending sparks down my spine.

I was shocked at first, unsure of what was happening, before allowing my brain to shut down, my hands flying around his neck. His hands shot up to my waist, deepening the kiss, and all I could think about was the feeling of his soft lips against mine.

It was an indescribable feeling, one I had never felt before. Yet, I was certainly scared of what was going to happen next.

A/N: OOO Ethan finally kissed her! Guys I'm so sorry for making you wait so long I have some huge exams coming up and I had my graduation as here we graduate earlier, which kind of made me upset.
