Extra bonus chapter 3: Maya Walker

This extra bonus chapter is about Kelsey and Ethan's daughter Maya. Now this was supposed to be a surprise but I guess I'm telling you now, I'm going to be writing a book about Maya, and so, this is going to be a kind of sneak peek to her book (Coming soon to a wattpad near you)

~Maya's POV~

"Maya, you've been crushing on the guy ever since you first saw him, you need to finally talk to him" My best friend Ella says as we enter our English classroom.

Let me catch you up, I'm Maya Walker.

And I have a crush.

On  a guy.

His name's Alex and he has a couple of classes with me and I guess I've liked him ever since the first time I saw him, opening his locker. Which is right next to mine might I add.

I don't get all those people who have the guts to talk to their crush, or those lucky people who's crush likes them back.

I would die if I ever talked to him.

"No way Ella, I'm good enough with just watching him" I say, taking out my stuff.

"Sure, if you're okay with just being a stalker for the rest of your life" She says.

As I take out my notebook I feel a nudge on my shoulder, I look at Ella and see her glancing towards the door.

My heart stops in when he just walks in.

Why does this always happen to me when I'm around him?

Stupid heart.

Maybe I shouldn't call the thing that keeps me alive stupid....

Sorry hearty.

"Okay class, I think everyone's here" Mrs Parker says looking around our small class.

I guess not many people were interested in English literature and so the result was this.

A very small number of students in class.

I prefer it like this honestly, less people to annoy you and the teacher can actually remember your name.

Though I don't know if that's such a good thing.

"So, today I'm sure you'll quite enjoy the lesson, I've decided to have you working in pairs on a piece of text, you're going to find a way how to turn this piece alive, by finding a way to act it out and making it seem realistic" She says.

I get confused because I never thought we would get to act during English literature, maybe it's to help us 'connect' with the piece? Or help us get in the zone?

Well how should I know?

Well I guess this is better then having her read us stuff that no one actually listens to because they would have fallen asleep.

This woman has a really relaxing voice, she should go work in one of those sleep therapy classes.

But she's a great teacher and I've learned a lot from her, you know, when I actually manage to stay awake.

I turn my head towards Ella, like to tell her that she's going to be my partner. I love being able to choose my own partner, I can just choose a friend and not risk being paired up with anyone annoying.

Or worse....

ALEX!

"Not this time babes" She says to me. I just give her a confused look as she looks at the back towards Ben grinning.

Oh no.

"Hey Luke, would you be my partner?" Ella quickly asks Luke as she goes to the empty seat next to his, before Alex gets the chance to ask him.

Here's the thing, none of Alex's friends actually joined this class and he always sits alone, but when it comes to pair work he goes to Luke, they are kind of friends, I guess.

That's why I suddenly panic at what Ella's doing.

I'm not ready for this.

"Okay so does everyone have a partner?" Mrs Parker asks.

"Maya doesn't have one I think mrs" Ella says, winking at me.

No.

No no NO.

"Oh, well I thought that you two were-, oh whatever, Maya you can stay with Alex."

Hearing those words just made things a hundred times worse.

I could barely hear my thoughts at how fast my heart was beating.

I'm going to end up making a fool out of myself.

What if I choke on my words?

What if I say something stupid?

What if I fart?

I try not to look towards Ella's former seat when I hear someone sitting on her chair.

Kill me now!

"Okay, that's settled. I'll be passing out the piece you're all going to be working on, we have about 3 lessons working on it so don't worry about not managing. Then everyone will show me what they came up with by acting out, but remember we're not in drama class, please be original" Mrs Parker says excitedly in her calming voice as she passes the papers around.

Breathe Maya.

You've worked with guys before.

Alex is no different.

You know, except for the fact that he's really cute and you just want to hug him all the time.

And he has Shawn Mendes's hair.

Calm down Maya, don't you dare hug him or touch his hair.

Some boys consider that creepy for some reason.

I know right?!

"Hello?" He say.

I take a deep breath before turning towards him.

"Yes, hi" I say nervously before I feel my phone buzz, and notice Ella looking at me with a grin.

I discreetly unlock my phone and open the text I had received from Ella.

It's fine, I've read about this on wattpad before. The guy and the girl always get together after being paired up for an assignment, talk about cliche', but it seems to work. Love you

She did this because of something she read on a book?!

ELLAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

"So should we read this thing first?" He asks, unsure of what he's doing.

Of course we have to read it first!

"I guess" I say, as unsure as him.

Nice going Maya.

As I start reading the text I instantly realize that it's from the book 'square root of summer' that I had read, surprise surprise, in summer.

I loved that book.

It was different,

yet intriguing,

it was weird,

yet at the same time relatable,

it was also sweet,

but I'm not here to give any spoilers.

"Square root of summer" Ben and I both say at the same time.

"Have you read it before?" He asks, looking at me intently making my heart start racing and my cheeks to heat up.

"I-I erm, y-yeah" I stutter.

Wow, way to play it cool Maya.

"I've heard about it, my little sister read it sometime last year. She likes to talk about the books she reads sometimes" He says.

Is it weird to say that he has an amazing voice?

"It is a great book" I say, feeling slightly more confident.

I mean, I do like talking about books.

"Great, that might help make things easier. Do you know this scene?" He asks smiling at me, making it once again harder for me to act cool.

"Yeah, it's one of my favourites" I state.

"Well, I guess this will be a bit easier. You're going to have to give me a crash course about what it's about though, my sister talks too much I don't really listen to everything she says" He says chuckling.

"Sure, I'd love to" I say, exactly as the bell rings.

"Oh shoot, how about you come to my house later?" He says, making my eyes widen.

"To continue working on this thing" He says, to make things clear.

"I-yeah, sure. But we have 3 lessons to work on it" I say, not understanding the reason of why we have to his house.

This is the first time I've ever talked to the guy, even if he is my neighbor and I kind of stalk him from my window every night.

What?

Nothing.

"Doesn't hurt to get more done. I don't think we could come up with everything in just 3 hours" He says smiling.

"Anyways, have to go to my next class, catch ya later" He says before he walks out, leaving me there stunned as Ella walks up to me.

"You're welcome" She says, smiling triumphantly.

"What have you done?!" I say sending her a death glare.

Relax Maya, you're just going to a guy's house, the guy who happens to be your crush, the really cute guy who happens to be your crush.

What's the worst that could happen?

Right?

A/N: He he he. Leaving you on a cliff hanger that won't be answered until I actually start writing the book.

By the way.

A bunch of people told me to write a sequel and I thought, why not a story about their daughter whose beginning is really relatable as almost all of us get a crush on someone when we see them standing there looking so....

Okay I should probably stop now, this isn't good for me!

Also I wanted to inform you that I had to mute notifications for my wattpad inbox because I was away for the weekend and didn't have wifi and when I switched it on, my notification box just burst and my poor phone ended up freezing because the phone I use for apps and stuff isn't exactly....new?

And well yeah, I had a fright because it froze for a while and I couldn't even restart and thought that it was done for, and since I'm a person that suffers from a LOOOT of anxiety, when my phone unfroze I had to mute all notifications (not just those of wattpad....Welp) and therefore if I don't reply to your message it is probably because I didn't get the notification, unless I happen to be on my laptop and your message happens to be the most recent, in fact, I did manage to read the message from the last person who messaged me and I would like to thank bobbatea350 for their kind message, and don't worry I'm working on the conversations thing while I'm editing, because I kind of realized as well and in fact some are already fixed, I guess I need to find the time to edit all but it is certainly under construction!
