Extra bonus chapter 4: Lara Walker

~Lara's POV~

"Laraaaaa"

"Joshhhhhhh" I reply to my annoying best friend that decided to just come in to my dorm without even knocking.

I should really start closing that door.

He could have been a burglar!

"Do you want to come to a party with me tonight?" He asks as he sits next to me on the couch, stealing some of my chips.

"Josh, you know I don't like parties. They're always full of drunk people making out. Like no thanks" I reply.

"This is going to be an innocent party, I swear. It's going to be held outside and it's going to be like a barbecue thing" He says trying to convince me.

"An innocent party? Is there such a thing? Apart from a 10 year old's party? And not all of those are innocent. I still remember Ethan making out with Kelsey during Ellie's party. So much for being good chaperones." I say recalling that scarring moment.

"Sophie will be there" He says mentioning our other best friend.

When I look at him with a straight face showing that I'm still not interested, he decides to give it another shot.

"And Jack"

"I'm in" I instantly say.

Jack may or may not be the guy I like, who Kelsey totally approves of and who, in her opinion, totally likes me back.

"Wow, I should've started with him" He says, lowly chuckling.

"Yes, you should have" I agree.

"Now, I've accepted to come with you to this party, but what the heck am I going to wear?" I ask.

"Just ask your sister, she's good at this stuff" Josh says.

"You really think Ellie is going to come all the way over here? It would take her over an hour, she loves me but I'm sure she doesn't love me that much" I say.

"Call Sophie then, sorry Lar, can't really help you with this stuff." He says, stealing some more chips.

"Can you stop stealing my junk food?" I scold him as I get up from the couch and hide the chips away from the monster.

"Fine, I'll call Sophie. This party better be fun" I say, pointing a finger at him.

"It will be, I swear Lara" He says. "Now I have to go get some stuff done, see you later, bye, love you" He says before leaving.

"Love you too" I mumble angrily.

I'm already starting to regret saying yes to him.

At least Jack will be there.

"I have to admit, I was surprised when Josh told me you were tagging along" Sophie says as she does my makeup. "Then he said that Jack will be there and I suddenly understood" She says.

"But are you sure you really want to go?" She asks, looking straight at me.

"Yeah, I mean he did say it's going to be an innocent party" I said trying to defend my decision.

"If you say so" She mumbles before finishing my make up and choosing an outfit for me to wear.

She's acting really strange, but her fashion sense is still good.

Since I don't have many 'appropriate outfits for a party', Sophie let me borrow some of her clothes and thus she lent me a cute black skirt that flowed beautifully to a little bit above my knees and a white top with sleeves of mid length that have like a cute design on them.

I refused to wear heels and so she let me wear her cute sneakers which she had bought from abroad, which was white with graffiti like designs on it.

"Didn't you say this was going to be an innocent party?" I scold Josh as I take a look at the scene around me.

Teenagers everywhere dancing a bit inappropriately with their boyfriends....Or guys who decided to just ask them to dance who they've probably never met before.

Either way it's scarring.

"I thought it would be. Ms. Mulligan was going to chaperone. Where the heck is she?" He asks.

"Dancing with Mr. Robertson. Okay I'm so getting out of here" I say with a disgusted look on my face.

"No, now that we're here we should stay" He says, grabbing my wrist as I try to leave.

"I don't know Josh, if she wants to leave maybe she should. She's never drank, something bad could happen to her" Sophie says all worriedly.

"Don't worry Soph, we'll take good care of her" Josh says trying to reassure her, which by the looks of it doesn't work.

"Fine, I'm going to go have a drink" I say as I start making my way towards the snack table, only to be stopped once again by Josh.

"Wait, I have a bag, and inside this bag I have your favourite juice. I brought it just in case the drinks would be spiked, and by the looks of it I think they are." He says.

"Here, take it go grab a cup and drink from this, and only this" He continues.

"Yes, dad" I say getting slightly annoyed at both Josh and Sophie babying me.

I'm 19 for heaven's sake.

I walk towards the snack table and grab a red cup, filling it with the tropical juice Josh brought. I guess it was sweet of him to bring me my favorite juice so I wouldn't get drunk.

"Hey Lara" I hear someone calling.

Jack

"Hi" I reply.

"It's really a good idea to bring your own drink to a party" He chuckles, placing his hand behind his head.

Can he get any cuter?

"Yeah, Josh brought it for me, he thought the drinks would be spiked, don't know if he's right or not but I don't really want to find out" I chuckle.

"Right, Josh" He mumbles angrily.

Aww, is he jealous?

"So, erm, do you want to dance?" I ask him as a slow song starts playing. Hopefully  there'll be no people straddling each other now.

"Yeah, I'd lo-" He starts saying before being cut off.

"Hey babe" A girl says as she kisses Jack's cheek, leaving me frozen in my spot.

"Hey Kelly" He says.

"Lara, this is my..girlfriend, Kelly" He says, not even able to look straight in my eyes.

He has a girlfriend?

"Girlfriend?" I manage to let out.

"Yeah, we've been going out for almost a month now" kelly says, taking his hand in hers.

"A month" I mumble more to myself.

"I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you but I didn't know how" He says.

"Why are you apologizing to her?" Kelly asks.

"It's fine. I have to go" I say quickly, before turning away and leaving the lovely couple there.

How could he not tell me he had a girlfriend?

A month.

He has had a girlfriend for a month.

He has been leading me on for a month while he had a girlfriend.

So much for him being jealous, and for Kelsey being right.

"Hey are you okay?" Josh asks, stopping me from my train of thoughts.

"I want to leave" I choke out.

"You" I say looking at Sophie who looked guilty.

"You knew and didn't tell me! That's why you didn't want me coming here and being around Jack. You knew all along" I say, tears falling down nonstop.

"I'm sorry Lar, I didn't know how to tell you. I caught them kissing a couple of weeks ago. He told me not to tell you anything. He said he'll be the one to do it, but he never did. I didn't want to hurt you" She says, desperately trying to explain.

"You're my best friend Soph, you knew how much I liked him and you didn't say anything. I can't believe you'd do this to me" I say before rushing out and run towards my dorm.

How could she?

We always share everything.

Doesn't she realize that she hurt me more by not telling me?

As I arrive in to my dorm, my hands instantly find my phone and call Kelsey.

"Hey Lar what's up?" She asks.

"Jack has a girlfriend" I cry.

"Oh no honey, that's horrible. Look baby, anyone who does that to you isn't worth your tears. You'll find someone who will always be there for you and love you for who you are who wouldn't hurt you" She says in that sweet motherly voice of her that always finds a way to calm me down.

"Actually Lara, you should just stay single and not let any boy in, they're all jerks, they will all break your heart, you shouldn't trust them. If you want I can come and turn the guy who hurt you in to minced meat" I hear Ethan's voice saying from the phone.

"May I remind you that you're a guy Eth" I hear Kelsey tell him.

"I know, but I'm just saying, we're all jerks" He says.

"Don't listen to your brother Lara, you know how over protective he gets. Listen honey, just don't think about it too much. Think about all the nice things you have, all the people who love you. Don't waste your time thinking on someone who would do that to you okay?" She says.

"Yeah, thanks Kels" I reply feeling slightly a bit better.

"Lara, open up" I hear Josh calling from my now locked dorm room door.

"I have to go, I'll call you later" I say before hanging up.

"The one time I need to come in is the one time you lock this thing?" He says as I open the door for him.

"Well I opened didn't I?" I say a bit too bitterly.

"Lara what happened? I'm really confused right now" He says.

"J-Jack has a g-girlfriend, they've been going out for a month" I say.

"I'm so sorry Lar" He says hugging me.

"Sophie knew this whole time and never told me" I say.

"Sophie is your best friend Lara, I'm sure that if you were in her shoes you would have found it difficult to tell her too. What best friends want to give news that break their best friend's heart?" He says trying to reason with me.

"I guess you're right" I say as I slide down and sit with my back resting on the door.

"I just don't know, why would someone do that to you, you're amazing Lara, in every single thing you do. You're a great singer, you just have something about you that makes people love being around you. You're like this ray of sunshine" He says sliding down next to me, looking directly at me.

"Well, Jack doesn't seem to think so" I sigh.

"Well Jack is an idiot if he chose someone else over an amazing person like you. Seriously Lar, don't waste your time on that guy, it's hard, I know, but there are so many other people who are dying to be with you" He says as I rest my head on his shoulder.

"Oh yeah? Like who?" I ask, not able to believe his words.

"Like me" He whispers, his eyes meeting mine.

"I really like you Lara, I always have" He says, his eyes flickering from my eyes to my lips.

He slowly starts leaning in and I find myself doing the same thing.

When his lips finally meet mine I feel my stomach churn and my heart start beating faster.

"I've always liked you, but you have always been busy noticing Jack to even notice me" He says, pain evident in his voice.

I find myself kissing him again.

I don't know why I did it, but no one had ever made me feel the way he made me feel in that moment, the way he always made me feel.

That was when I realized that I do like Josh.

It's just like Kelsey said, Josh is a person who has never hurt me, he has always helped me, he always helped me when I freaked out because of Jack, and now I'm finding out he liked me.

Maybe, without realizing it, deep down, I liked him too.

"I like you too Josh" I say, resting my forehead against his.

"Are you sure I'm not just a rebound?" He asks, looking in to my eyes.

"I like you Josh. Maybe I never realized it, but I've always liked you, I was just too busy following Jack to notice the way you've always made me feel" I reply, making him smile as he leans in again, kissing me one more time.

In that moment, Noah's words he had once told me replay in my head.

"Are you sure you don't have feelings for Josh? I don't think I've ever seen Jack make you smile the way Josh does, I've never seen anyone who makes you happy as much as he does"

Ain't it sad when my 4 year old sister already has a really cute boy who's her best friend sending her cards with an 'I love you' written on them while I'm here alone and single? ;-;

I don't need a boy to be happy!!!
