An Attack
Crime Boss' Unwilling Wife
Orion~
About fifty men have blitzed through my estateâs security and are roaming the woods of my land as if they own the damn place. The audacity of that alone has me hungry for blood, and this is a hunger I know that I will be able to satisfy.
After first and foremost ensuring my girl is safe and protected, Iâve moved on with my men to remove the threat to our people and take them down one by one. We have done this so many times, just never on our own land.
When the alarm was first called, I assumed it to be a mistake, someone lost in the area, but numbers like that arenât gathered by accident and now I can see that some are even engaging before we make the first move.
Emma is in my mind constantly as I push them back and tear them down. I canât believe that she let me get so close to her just now, all for it to be ruined by this invasion.
Never in all my time as a leader has anyone dared to cross my territory uninvited, and thereâs got to be someone behind it. Theyâre messy and unorganized, but theyâre grouped together which makes no sense. Someone has to be pulling the strings behind the scenes and I canât for the life of me think of a motive.
I have many an enemy but none that would risk something so stupid as to trust this lot with their attempt. They have loyalty to the highest bidder, that much is clear when interrogating a few and perhaps thatâs why my men and I are all so shocked by it.
My section is dwindling down quickly as I let my instincts act for me and this side of me thrives in taking out the threat to my people, my land, and most of all my wife. Iâm just furious that something like this could have happened.
Where were our guards and how did they break through our barriers? I know how Emma did it, but my little fiancée is smart and this group clearly isnât.
Theyâre falling all over each other to try and get to the front and fight us ahead of the next, while nothing is practiced in their formation. I mean, Iâd go as far as to say that if there werenât so many of them, this attack would be pitiful.
Perhaps I need to look at bulking up my security and finally investing in the technology my father had been avoiding during his reign. He always said that a good leader doesnât need a camera to tell him when an enemy is afoot, but if we had that, maybe I could get a shot of their leader and how they got through in the first place.
Damn it, when will I learn to stop listening to that man, as even from the grave heâs fucking with my leadership. Never again, this will never happen again, I vow it.
When my section is empty, I turn to help Marcus finish off his as we are holding the hole in the border at this point. It feels good to let some of the anger out and I almost donât hear Donovan when he reports an update down to me through a radio pinned to my chest.
âOur side is all clear but for one thatâs escaped. Weâre coming to you now for a final pushback.â
His words grate at me and I take a second to breathe in a deep breath. The assumption here is clearly that this guy has run off, but one thing that life has taught me recently is that I shouldnât be making assumptions. Especially not when my wife is concerned.
âI want them found.â I yell back down to him and donât care if Iâve left it open for all of my men to hear.
Let them know that their boss is pissed and wants revenge, maybe it will even give them that extra motivation we need to find them.
With this, Marcus and I head back to the main house. Iâve ordered all non-engaged guards to come back and surrounded it, and honestly, I just want to make sure that Emma is still okay.
Any way of contacting her is blocked by the metal of the bunker, and it pains me to know that I canât reach out even for just one second to make sure that sheâs in one piece. I donât know why Iâm worrying though, itâs not like I left the place unguarded, and the metal that holds it in is ten inches thick.
Without the key, Iâd struggle to get in there myself.
When the main house comes into view, I charge forward with another burst of speed. Weâre almost there now, but as we keep going, I stumble onto the body of Jack, one of the guards left to defend the bunker.
âMan down!â I yell down the line and check to see if heâs still breathing, only to be disappointed.
âAnother here, Sir.â Marcus calls to me from a few hundred yards away, signaling that the other guard has fallen to a similar fate.
I roar in anger and we run to the door, praying to find it still in one piece... And it is.
Thank fuck!
I unlock it with the key only myself and a few senior members have a copy of, and charge into the room with all the passion built up over the span of the last few hours.
The kids are all gathered in one corner, and the women are forming a line around them as if to protect them from an oncoming attack. Each of their complexions is paler than usual, and while my eyes search for her, I fail to find Emma among them.
Where is she?
