chapter - 6

Past :

Author POV:

Two families geared up for a relaxing weekend at the park.

They settled themselves in the big car.

Veer took driver's seat with Raghu beside him.While the ladies along with Naina and Sri ,occupied the back. Arjun and Arun settled in the seats behind them, surrounded by picnic baskets .

"Raghu, I got a call from Spoorthi." States Veer .

"What's the matter?"

"We received a tender."

"That's good news. In which city Delhi?"

"No , Mumbai. Meena and I are thinking not to go there."

"Bhaiya, that's a wonderful opportunity for your company. You guys should go." Interrupted Sumithra with a concern.

"How can we go? We're bound, and the children too. We don't want to leave from here." responded Meena to Sumithra .

"Even though it's profitable, we can't leave our family, right, bhabiji?"

[Veer winked at Sumi through the rearview mirror.]

"I know we're family but..." Starts Sumithra to say but Meena cuts her and says "There are no buts ,Sumi. We're not going, and that's final."

" Fine , we just want good for  you guys but the final call is yours even if you go or stay with us nothing changes , but I think you should consider it Veer " Raghu said looking at veer .

" Okay we will consider it but not now , we have a lot of time for it we can discuss it later but now let's have fun " said Veer to end the discussion here as they have reached their location.

Getting out from the car the males take out the baskets from the car and females try to spot a good place in the park .

They got a good place  in the park where they have a fountain . It seemed like a busy day in the park as there were many people with their families to enjoy.

Meena and Sumithra took the blankets from the bag and spread it over the ground . Naina and Sri took out all the food items which was prepared , early in the morning for this picnic .

Everyone have their favourite cakes , chips , drinks , chocolates , biriyani, curry, kheer .

The families enjoyed their meal with jokes and laughter.

After completing the lunch they decided to have a walk around the park .

Arjun and Arun were running here and there when they found there was a running competition going on for the kids .

The Anchor of the game approached their parents and said

"We are  conducting a running race for the boys and as a part of it we have a  prize  . It's a gear cycle which has been launched newly in the market . The competition is going get started in a few minutes, would you like your children to participate in it ?"

Arun and Arjun got excited by listening to the word  cycle. They quickly ran towards the racing line.

It was a running competition of 100 metres around the park

Sri also wanted to participate " Naina and I also want to play the game."

"yes we are interested too" joined Naina.

But the anchor refused and said "girls  it's only for boys . there is a girls competition in next street  if you want you guys can participate there .

The girls were enthusiastic to join the competition , so Meena and Sumithra decided they will take the girls to the next Street after boys competition .

Veer and Raghu stayed with the boys .

There were 15 boys who were participating in the game . The game master shot the gun and the race began and  boys started to run .

It was a neck to neck competition between Arjun and Arun who were leading the race .

Then at the end Arjun won the race beating Arun .

Announcement: Arjun seghal won the competition and won the sports cycle.

Arjun was happy as he won the cycle.

All family members are happy but Arun was disappointed.

Sri came to Arun and encouraged him "don't worry Arun  it's just a game."

Arun smiled and they went to back to their picnic spot.

The next day:

In the early morning, the clock  showed 6 , Arjun wanted to ride the bicycle. He got up and made Sri to wake up and to join him with her little cycle ,which Naina and Sri bought together with different colours.

Meanwhile Arun and Naina also got up for a cycle ride.

"Naina are you ready , lets go now "

" Yeah bhai chalo".

Sri and Naina were cycling near their home where as Arun and Arjun decided it move little further to the next street crossing the main road .

While riding their bicycles, no one uttered a word.

Arjun's POV:

I know I'm being stubborn, but I don't want to talk to Arun. Everyone was happy yesterday. Arun didn't even come to congratulate me. If he wanted the bicycle, he should have won the competition. I want him to initiate the conversation.

Arun's POV:

We used to share everything. Arjun didn't even come yesterday to console me. He knows how much I liked that cycle. I thought , in the morning he would come to me, and we could ride that cycle together, but no, he didn't even talk to me . I want him to initiate the conversation.

Author POV :

Two trucks kept honking from behind when Arjun and Arun were cycling. Arjun moved to the right to give way to the two trucks, and Arun followed suit. However, on the muddy, rain-soaked road, Arun lost his balance and accidentally pushed Arjun.

Arjun and his cycle lost their balance and fell into muddy sludge. This made him angry .

"I know you don't want to see me happy, you envy me, right Arun?" Shouted Arjun at Arun.

Arun got off his cycle and wanted to help Arjun, but the words Arjun spoke shocked him and made him hault at his steps.

Arjun was  trying to retrieve the cycle from the mud, he found that the handle was stuck.

He was fuming in angry and bursted on  Arun "Because of you, my new cycle's handle got stuck. It's not moving. Why, Arun? You always wanted me in the back. Days ago, in the finals, you said you didn't study but still became the topper of the class. Yesterday, everyone was happy, but you didn't even come to me. You just went off to your home. I thought you would talk during our morning ride."

"You have intentionally pushed  me into the mud , thinking that my cycle would be broken so you could be happy, right Arun?"

"Stop it, Arjun. I didn't do it intentionally. My cycle slipped, and I lost my balance." Arun was feeling bad as Arjun's words hurt him .

"what a kahani , bro." Arjun was not in a position to trust Arun and was trying to take his cycle out of the mud.

While all this was happening Naina and Sri arrived at the place. But seeing them both arguing they got tensed and Sri asked Arjun

"Bhaiya, what happened? O my god Come let's go home. Your knee is bleeding." Said Sri as she saw his knee covered with blood.

Between this argument Arjun didn't even realise he got hurt and his knee was bleeding .  Sri and Arjun left from there making Arjun's cycle free from the mud.

Arun was just standing there like a rock , shocked at Arjun words and his thinking.

Naina, after seeing all this approached Arun and asked "What happened, bhaiya? Arjun is injured, and you're just standing there, not taking care of him , did anything happen ?"

Arun came out of his thinking at Naina's question "we had a little fight leave it naina let's go home."

"but bhaiya he is ble-." Before she could even complete Arun  spoke in anger "i said lets go home naina , come" .

After reaching the home , Sri quickly took Arjun to her mother .

" Mom see Arjun bhaiya feel down and his knee is bleeding. "

Seeing the knee bleed Sumithra got frightened as Arjun was deeply hurt . She quickly grabbed the first-aid box and started to clean the wound.

" Arjun , how did this happen "

Arjun wasn't speaking anything and was lost in his thoughts. His mind was still thinking, why did Arun do this .

" Mom , I think Arjun Bhai and Arun had a fight " said Sri.

" Arjun , what is this ? You both fought. Did you guys beat eachother. Is this the reason behind your wound"

As Sumithra was asking Arjun , Naina entered and Seghals house and was shocked to know that Arjun and Arun got into a fight with each other .

" No mom we didn't fight , Arun has pushed me . He was unhappy because I won the competition and got the cycle. I was observing him from yesterday. He did this intentionally to hurt me . Even my cycle broke . All this is because of him . " Said Arjun in anger .

" Shut up Arjun , why do you think Arun will do this . I think you are imagining a lot . Now go to your room and take rest I have applied the ointment to it  , I ll bring you medicine. Don't even think like that " said Sumithra who was fed up with Arjun.

Arjun's anger rose after listening to this and he bashed towards his room.

"Naina beta , when did you come ? " Asked Sumitra who saw Naina standing at the entrance.

" Just now aunty , i came to check Arjun. Is he good now ?"

" Yes beta , i applied some medicine to him , come sit "

" No aunty, I ll go to home , i came to just check him , i ll go "

Naina left from the Seghals and ran into her home.

She approached her mother and said ,

" Mumma , Arjun got hurt and his knee is bleeding "

Meena came from the kitchen and asked Naina " how did that happen beta , is he ok now "

" Yes ma he is ok , but I think Arun Bhai and Arjun fought , Arjun said that bhaiya has intentionally pushed Arjun as he was not happy at Arjun's win. "

" No Naina this can't happen , Arun isn't like that , but if it is true then I will definitely punish him , but where is Arun?"

" When we returned from cycling he was in anger and went inside his room " said Naina showing Arun's room .

" Ok I will talk to him , you don't think about this "

Deep inside everyone was thinking, why  Arun and Arjun suddenly started to behave different?

(After a few days in the school)

Author POV:

It sounds like a busy day in the science lab .It's great to see everyone engaged in different activities, exploring and experimenting.

In the lab Arun is busy in microscope while Arjun with test tubes, chemicals.

Anjan and his gang,  who  are envious of Arjun and Arun's friendship  had devised a plan to ruin their bond.

After the lab period ended, all the students left. Arjun and Arun were the last to leave, taking their experiment books from the table. Seeing them leave the room ,Anjan and his gang entered the lab.

In one corner of the lab, there was a projector and a screen. They broke the connection wire and support for the projector, causing the projector to crash down with a loud thud.

Since it was a new room located on the last floor of the building, the windows were closed, prevented the sound from moving  out. Then they all left the room. Anjan deliberately closed the doors to ensure no one would discover their mischief and they moved back to their classroom without anybody's knowledge.

After an hour, a male teacher entered the lab and noticed the broken projector. He approached the teacher who had conducted the class earlier.

"Madam, you have conducted the class an hour ago right? . Do you have any idea why and  how  the projector is broken and some test tubes are shattered?"

She was in disbelief listening to it"No, sir. When I left the lab, everything was fine. Let me check."

She then proceeded to the lab to investigate.

Anjan and his gang were happy that their plan was implemented successfully .One of the members of his group remarked, "Anjan, we destroyed the projector, but you accidentally knocked over the test tubes. What will you tell the teacher?"

Anjan replied confidently, "Don't worry, I'll pin it on Arun and Arjun."

Another boy asked, "How?"

Anjan grinned and said, "Just wait and watch ."Anjan approached Arun and said, "Arun, do you know when you guys left, Arjun broke the projector?"

Arun, got  surprised and responded, "What? How did he do that? And when did he do it?"

Anjan replied, "After you left the room with the lab books, Arjun was still in the lab. I saw him, but I didn't tell the teacher. Instead, I came to you directly."

Arun said, "Please don't say anything to anyone. I'll take care of it."

Meanwhile, Anjan's friend approached Arjun and said, "Arjun, do you know when you guys left, Arun broke the projector?"

Arjun, puzzled, asked, "When did this happen?"

His friend replied, "After you left the room with the lab books."

Arjun countered, "But I was behind Arun, and I was the last one to exit."

His friend insisted, "No, after some time, he came back to the lab and broke the projector."

Arjun sighed, "Okay, don't tell anyone i will take care of it . "

Arun and Arjun were both confused.

Both Arun and Arjun were thinking the same thing . "Why would he break the projector? I know we've been avoiding each other since the last incident, but that doesn't mean he can damage the  school property."

Then Arun and Arjun crossed paths in the library during the free period.

"Why did you do that?" Arjun asked him in a anger tone .

"I should be the one asking you .Why are you behaving like this?"

"Are you crazy, Arun? Why did you break the projector?"

"Are you serious, Arjun? You're the one who broke it and now you're pinning it on me."

"Don't lie, Arun. Why are you blaming me for something you did?"

"Stop it, Arun."

Arun got pissed off by the balme game "Arjun, let's calm down. Why did you do that?"

"Arey, how many times do I have to say it? Don't blame me for something you did."

They began arguing, and soon grabbed each other collars. And in less time argument became a fight.  One big fight .

On the other side, the teacher learned from Anjan that Arun and Arjun were involved in the incident. She hurried to the library to address the matter, only to find them engaged in a physical altercation.

She hurried to them and broke their fight .

The teacher decided to take Arun and Arjun to the principal's room.

In the principal's room, they called Raghu and Veer to the school.

When both the parents came to the principal's office, he started to state the problem to them .

"I have never seen Arun and Arjun fighting like this. They were both well behaved children and best friends too. However, they also destroyed lab equipment. I think you should talk with your children. You should also pay the fine, sir."

The teacher added " I know sir both are good mannered students but I have been observing them from a few days . Both the students are either misbehaving with eachother or fighting over a pity reason. Even I have solved few arguments of them in the class . I think now it's getting worse " .

Veer after listening to the complaint responded to the principal "Sorry for our children's behavior, sir. We will ensure they don't make the same mistake again and will pay the fine."

Raghu added "Thank you for not punishing our children. We will take care of it. Thank you, sir. We'll take our leave now."

After leaving the school, they all gathered in the garden.

Meena was in anger and she started to scold them "What is this, Arjun and Arun? Why are you behaving like kids? You're grown-up boys now ."

"Ma, I didn't do anything. Arjun is the one who destroyed the lab equipment."

"Shut up, Arun. Don't you dare to explain yourself.

Veer then calmed Meena "leave them Meena . It's a waste of time to discuss this issue. Just behave  yourselves, kids. Never try to become bad people. Just remember, our reputation will be decided by your behaviour in society. Don't repeat this again and solve your problems "

Arjun's POV:

Why, why, why Arun... Why are you doing this? You're the one who destroyed it and threw the blame on me. I don't know what to say .We're breaking our bond, Arun.

Arun's POV:

I don't know why Arjun is lying about me. Why does he want to ruin our friendship? He's the one doing everything and then he is putting the blame on me.

Author POV:

Arun and Arjun parted ways, maintaining distance between them. Things got even worse between them . Then the teacher decided to change their sections.

A few days passed , Arun found new friends , while Arjun also made new friends.

One night, Naina and Sri were playing together. Many things have changed in these few days between Arjun and Arun but Naina and Sri were the same .

Naina then asked sri "Is Arjun okay?"

"Yeah, bro is fine. And I also want to ask about Arun. How is he?"

"He's good, still angry at Arjun."

"Will they become friends again?"

"Yeah, they will become friends again, don't worry."

"If not?"

"We are there, na."

"Haha."

Smiling sheepishly, they both gave a high-five. Then they promised each other that they would reunite their brothers.

Little did they know that one incident was going to happen, which would further distance their brothers from each other.
