12.| I think about you.
Girl In The City
After two hours of driving the car's fuel tank becomes empty. Luckily to my dismay a gas station comes in view and I pull up there.
I switch the car engine off and notice that there's no men or people to fill my car up.
"That's weird. In SA there's no self-assistance at petrol stations." I sigh and walk into the station's store.
The doors make a ding dong type of sound when I enter.
I look to the cashier and there's a woman on her phone eating bubblegum like a Camel.
"Hi." I say to the lady but she ignores more. I sigh in frustration. "Hi, I need assistance." I say and she continues to ignore my presence.
I read her name tag and it reads Patricia. "Patricia, I said I need assistance!" I shout harshly and she looks up from her phone with a bored expression on her face.
"What do you want?" She says flatly.
I give her a small smile. "Do you have a phone I can borrow? I'm kind of in danger." I say with an innocent voice.
She hands me her phone and I quickly dial Mr. Richardson's number.
The phone rings twice before he answer's.
"Keegan, Keegan. It's Letta. Please come get me." I say when he answers.
I tell Keegan which gas station I'm at and I wait in the station afraid that Jake will see Derrick's car and assume I'm here or something.
After an hour of munching of snacks in the store, Richardson finally arrives.
"Letta." He says standing by the door. A feeling of joy and relief overwhelms me and I rush to Mr. Richardson, hugging him tightly as though I hadn't seen him in forever.
He hugs be back tightly. "I'm so sorry Letta, it's all my fault." He murmers and I shake my head.
Tears begin to build up now, descending from my eyes like rain drops sliding down a window.
"No it's not." I murmur into his stone hard chest.
"I shouldn't have involved you in all this." He admits and I pull from the hug, staring at his hypnotizing eyes. He's eyes showed so much guilt.
"I got involved the moment Derrick told me things I didn't need to know." I said. "No matter how much I hate this whole thing, I'm now a part of it and it's quite personal for me because of Jake." I said flatly.

Keegan took us to one of his houses that's in Tribeca thinking that it's no longer safe for us to go back to the apartment building.
When we got there, I had no time to admire the beautiful, large home as I went straight to the shower and settled in Keegan's clothing because I have nothing else to wear.
The FBI agents soon came to talk to me about what happened and how I escaped. It was a bit hard explaining my experience at the barn because it was a terrifying experience.
How I managed to escape? It beats me too.
Growing up I used to be a very athletically active learner in school. I played netball, chess, hockey, and athletics. Once I reached high school I decided to take on a new sport. Shooting. They called it 'Skiet' which was in Afrikaans.
I guess it came in handy in the situation I was in when I was at the barn. As lucky as I was to escape I can't shake the feeling that the kidnapping was just a scare or warning for something big.
When the federal agents left, I tried to catch some Zzzs but that seemed pretty impossible.
Now it was 12 am and I'd just been tossing and turning the whole night, trying my best to fall asleep but all that kept crawling in my mind was Jake's sick smile.
At a point I gave up my pathetic attempt at falling asleep and went to the kitchen to maybe get a late night snack.
I walk into the kitchen and nearly get a stroke when I find Keegan sitting in the dark by the island eating cereal.
"Can't sleep?" He asked and I nodded heading towards the cabinet for a bowl.
"Nightmares." I said as I sit next to him and pour a bowl full of cereal with some milk.
"For some reason I feel like this kidnapping was just some kind of warning for something worse." I admitted my fears.
He sighed exasperatedly. "Honestly as long as Jake's still breathing, things are bound to only get worse." He rubbed his hand across his face.
"Why can't you sleep?" I asked taking a bit of my cereal.
"I don't know." He sighed and bites his lip like his holding something back. "I just...I just don't want Jake's filthy hands on you." He said.
"I think about you." I blab without even noticing my words.
He faces me, stunned. "What do you mean you think about me?" He draws his full attention to me.
"I think about you in ways I shouldn't because you're my boss." I bow my head in shame.
He places his finger under my chin, gently forcing me to look up at him.
I stare into his eyes and a smirk forms on his lips making me blush a little.
Next thing I know, he crashes his lips onto mine. At first I'm taken aback by his sudden move but eventually I ease into the kiss and kiss him back. He kisses me with his soft lips, gentle as though I might break but he then deepens the kiss.
His hands snake to my waist and my arms wrap around his neck, tugging at his hair.
He bites my bottom lip making me gasp, giving him the chance to snake his tongue into my mouth.
As we kiss all I hear are fireworks and all I feel is the butterflies moving around crazily in my stomach as though they had taken ecstasy.
He eventually breaks from the kiss, leaving my lips longing for his to touch mine again. Our breathing is as though we had just ran a marathon.
He leans his forehead against mine.
"I think about you too."
