Chapter 23 - Jordan

Jordan was in his trailer putting the finishing touches on a gift for Alex. She had been traveling across the country doing promotion and he was missing her. He'd watched and listened to all of her television and radio appearances between filming scenes for D.C. Undercover and was disappointed he would still be on set when she got back to L.A. the following night.

"Come in," Jordan said when he heard a knock at the door. He smiled when he saw Darcy, one of the production interns, poke her head in with a clipboard in hand. She was a rising star on set, always anticipating what the staff and actors would need for the day. Because she was so organized and upbeat, they would sometimes call her Cadet Darcy.

"Hey, Jordan. We're all ready for you. Can you be down in about ten minutes?"

"Yeah, no problem."

"I see you have a package. Would you like me to make delivery arrangements?"

Jordan hesitated a moment before realizing if the package was not sent out immediately, it wouldn't get to Alex's apartment in time for her arrival. He figured if he couldn't be there to greet her, she should at least come home to something nice.

"Yes, that'd actually be very helpful Darcy. I appreciate you."

"My pleasure," she said with a smile, taking the package from Jordan.

The rest of the day was long and hectic. Jordan had a street chase scene that the director re-shot eight times. By the time he got back to his trailer, he was ready to pass out. The last thing he wanted to see was Vince seated patiently inside, waiting for Jordan to walk in.

"What's going on, Vince?"

Vince tossed a large manila envelope onto the table. Jordan looked at the envelope for a long time. He knew inside was the answer to who had been leaking stories. He also knew once he learned the answer, he'd have to share it with Alex.

Jordan took a seat across from Vince and picked up the envelope, surprised at how heavy it was. He spilled the contents out onto the table and his head dropped once recognition hit.

Several of the pictures captured Pamila Montgomery clad in large shades and a wide-brimmed hat. In the images, she was speaking with a man, presumably Anthony Wiggins, looking into his camera and occasionally looking over her shoulder.

Jordan sat in shocked silence. She is out of her mind! How long has this been going on and why is she doing this? Jordan felt like if he at least understood her motives he could figure out a way to stop her. However, there was no way he could go toe to toe with a delusional person and, at this point, Pamila Montgomery seemed delusional.

"I think you need to call Alex," Vince said, gathering the pictures back up and placing them inside of the envelope.

Jordan thought for a moment then shook his head, no. "I need to tell her in person. She still has a few more appearances to make and I don't want to throw her off her game. She's really been amazing this week and doesn't deserve to have that messed up. I'll wait until I see her tomorrow night."
