Chapter 221
Married in a Flash Embarking on the Journey to Wealth
Chapter 221
Aurelia stared at the unfamiliar contact name on her phone, bewildered.
âOh right, Ms. Linda said she wanted to use my phone to watch a drama, and thatâs probably when it got changed,â she recalled.
The person who helped her in front of the hotel couldnât unlock her phone.
So, they likely started going through her emergency contacts.
Normally, you would start with oneâs parents.
But, her father passed away, and her mother was unconscious, so calling them was definitely futile.
That left only her boyfriend or her husband.
Looking at the word âHusbandâ on the screen, Aureliaâs face turned crimson.
Seeing her blush, Leslie said casually, âAm I not your husband?â
Aurelia was startled and nodded as she muttered, âYes.â
Leslie felt a strange sense of relief and carefully handed her a glass of water.
âHave some water.â
âThank you. Did I not delay your work?â Aurelia asked cautiously.
âWe had overtime and plenty of holidays before. It doesnât matter,â he said.
He adjusted his trousers before sitting down.
His movements were so effortless and graceful, and he appeared incredibly elegant.
She immediately lowered her head to sip on the water and finally regained her composure.
Seeing her complexion improve, Leslie asked, âWhy did you faint in front of that hotel?â
Aurelia hesitated whether to tell him.
She didnât want Leslie to think that she had managed to secure One Technologyâs proposal, only to
end up in this situation.
However, she remembered Leslieâs advice not to be overly stubborn.
Otherwise, not only would things go wrong, but she would also be in a worse situation.
After a moment of hesitation, she said, âThe venue was taken. Kimberly did something. Sheâs claiming to be sick at home so I canât prove her involvement in this. Her fiancé seems to be quite wealthy and he booked all my backup venues.â
As she spoke, Aurelia felt a bit aggrieved.

She was just an ordinary person, working hard, and couldnât understand why these things always happened to her.
Did having money really give them the right to do whatever they wanted?
They casually waved their hands and rendered a month of someone elseâs efforts in vain.
Doing all of this just to see her beg for mercy.
Why should she comply?
Aurelia looked up at Leslie, tears welling in her eyes.
Leslie stared at those teary eyes and was once again overwhelmed by a feeling he couldnât describe.
He frowned and shoved a piece of tissue paper into her hand.
âWhy are you crying? You look weird.â
She pouted.
âYou sure have an innovative way of comforting people.â
Leslieâs frown deepened because he had never been good at comforting others.
The only person he had ever tried to comfort was his mother.
His mom used to chuckle at whatever he said, but started covering his mouth later on in his life, saying, âLeslie, when you meet a girl you like, just shut your mouth.â
He finally started to understand why she said that.
Seeing as he fell into silence, Aurelia said, âThank you. I feel much better now, but I still have to look for a venue. Iâll let you get back to work now.â
Leslie paused, wondering if he was being chased away again.
Aurelia was the only woman who repeatedly pushed him away.
Though it shouldnât be a big deal, he felt weird about it.
âWhere are you going?â Leslie asked.
Aurelia didnât intend to lie and showed her phone to him, with a few searches for hotels.
âWhat do you think of these? Would your boss like it? They arenât big venues, but the event halls look
luxurious.â
âMost people are adamant that ceremonies should be held in grand hotels to make it look extravagant. But just think about it. Which theme-based shows are actually held in a hotel?â Leslie
said.
Aurelia paused.
